Chapter 477: The Altar of Calamity

[To all monsters of the Wilwatikta Kingdom. I am KU Moku, the strongest monster.]

The atmosphere in the Capital of Wilwatikta froze instantly. Millions of pairs of ears—from the sentries on the highest watchtowers to the laborers in the deepest trenches—vibrated violently. Moku’s voice did not merely bounce off the stone walls; it crawled into their very bloodstream, resonating with the heartbeat of every living creature there.

[I’m using the Pandava Power to address all monsters of the Wilwatikta Kingdom. I have mastered the power gained from opening the Sixth Evolution Gate, and with it, I have become the equal of a Level 9 Constellation Mage. My goal is to protect the monster species, my family, and my kind. However, the world wants to exterminate my people. They will not stop until every last one of the monster species is dead. I refuse to let them!]

The voice carried a rage so pure that, paradoxically, it provided a strange sense of calm to the inhabitants. Whatever they were doing, they abandoned it to listen to the voice of the strongest monster.

[Tell the world today, my brothers and sisters, that even though we face difficulties today and tomorrow, I have a dream. A dream rooted deep within the soul of every monster. Not just the Asura, not just Wilwatikta, but the entire monster species.]

[Twenty years ago, before the Orcs—whose lives were considered no more than vermin in the eyes of the Mana Species—I dreamed and I promised. That was my vow to the rising sun. MY OATH OF DAWN!]

[My brothers and sisters... My name is Moku. I am your ’Ku’. I am no vermin. I am no weakling. I was born to be the strongest! I was born to leap higher than the birds in flight! I was born to shatter mountains into splinters! I was born to run through the sound itself! I was born an Orc. I was born a fighter. I was born to die on the battlefield! I was born to create oceans of blood and mountains of corpses from my enemies! I was born so that every creature on the Meer Continent would remember my name! The name KuMoku will become a terrifying narrative. The name KuMoku will bring nightmares to their sleep. I was born to be their fear! I was born to be their nightmare! AND I WILL!!]

[That morning, beneath the rising sun and above the drifting white mist—I named you the Dawnmist Tribe and I SWORE!! I would make the Orcs the masters of the entire Bog Forest! I WOULD MAKE THE ORC RACE THE STRONGEST CREATURES ON THE MEER CONTINENT!]

Boku lowered his gaze, remembering that moment when Moku had gathered them all after winning against Goku in the Palaka and becoming the Ku. He remembered feeling the same way then as he did now. The despair and the ache of realizing how weak they truly were. But Moku’s voice had pierced the darkness of the night and the cold of the forest, providing a light to guide their path and warmth for their frozen hearts.

[Now I ask you, my brothers and sisters of the Wilwatikta Kingdom: Are we the masters of the Bog Forest? Have the Orcs become the strongest race on the Meer Continent? Have my dream and my oath been fulfilled?]

Boku, Swa, Mige, and all the first-generation Asuras smiled.

It was true. Moku had kept his promise. They were the masters of the Bog Forest—a place they once considered a hell where a single mistake would lead them all to ruin.

It was true. Moku had kept his promise. They had become Asuras, and with that, the strongest creatures on the Meer Continent—perhaps even in the entire world. Their fear of mages had long since evaporated; to an Asura, a mage was merely prey that was slightly more resilient.

[My monster brothers and sisters! I see dark clouds approaching us from afar. The rain and the storm are coming. The same rain and storm that washed over us when the Oath of Dawn was first spoken. Just as it was that day... I do not know what will happen now. We face difficult days ahead. But that does not matter to me, for I have reached the mountaintop.]

Every monster stood in silence, trying to digest what Moku was saying. But they did not have to ponder for long after seeing the storm clouds drawing closer. Hidden behind them was the Demon Legion, ready to consume them all.

[Like any other creature, I wish to live long; longevity has its place. But I do not care about that now. I only want to do the will of The One. And He has allowed me to climb to the peak of that mountain. I have looked over to the other side. Do you know what I found there? I HAVE SEEN THE PROMISED LAND!]

At first, his voice sounded calm and soft, like a father reading a bedtime story to his son, but the sentence ended with a roar like an explorer discovering a new world.

[The place where the true heaven resides. A place where battle and war rage without end. Our brothers and sisters who have gone before us now enjoy a magnificent battle beyond imagination every single day. They cheer, they roar, they laugh, and they rejoice. In every stroke of their swords, in every vortex of their Dragon Prana, they find joy. This is The Promised Land that The One has promised us!]

The blood within the monsters’ bodies surged. The One’s Heaven. The land promised to them. There was not a monster alive who did not wish to go to that place after hearing his words. The urge to fight in that promised conflict was woven into every inch of their blood.

[Is this not what we have wanted all along? But what I see now is different. You are all so lost in the vanity of this world that you have forgotten the fervor that awaits you afterward. You are so squeezed by the threat of the enemy that you have forgotten to look forward to the promise of eternal combat. You see only the approaching storm clouds and forget the cleansing rain of blood. Are you truly satisfied with the hollow battles provided by this world?]

Moku’s voice remained steady, yet everyone listening could feel the sorrow and disappointment within it.

[I know that in this world, the Asuras are the most complacent. They think they alone have the right to enjoy the grandeur of battle. Meanwhile, the Goblins and Sylphs have served only as the support team and spectators to the stage of combat enjoyed by the Asuras. I know this.]

[I know you resent the Asuras who can feast in the fray, thinking that they will be the ones to dominate the fighting in the Promised Land. But I say to you: NO! THE COMBAT IN THE PROMISED LAND WILL BE ENJOYED BY EVERY MONSTER THAT EXISTS! I saw Hoddurt! I saw Alex! I saw Goblins, I saw Sylphs! They all enjoy the eternal, grand battle there! And because of that, hear my vow. My New Oath of Dawn for all monsters!]

The voice carried a heavy oath, causing joy to explode in the chests of those who had previously only been able to hide. And amidst those primal frequencies, a melancholic lilt was tucked away—a tone that instantly broke the capital into tears of profound emotion.

[FROM THE MOUNTAINTOP, I HAVE BROUGHT AN ALTAR FOR YOU!]

[An altar that will bring us to rise and live in the truest sense: ’We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all monsters are created equal.’]

[An altar that will allow every monster—be they Orc, Sylph, Goblin, or Alraune—to enjoy the glory of battle in this world!]

[An altar that will strike away the shackles of Orc reproduction, the smallness of the Sylphs, the weakness of the Goblins, and the immobility of the Alraunes!]

[An altar that will ensure the monster species is no longer divided into four races, but one! One Species! One Race! One Hope! One Dream! One Oath!]

[That altar is... THE NEST OF CALAMITY!]

[THE NEST WHERE WE SHALL ALL BE REBORN!]

[THE CALAMITY THAT WILL DRAG THIS ENTIRE WORLD AND EVERYTHING IN IT INTO THE GREATEST BATTLE THAT HAS EVER EXISTED!]

Moku paused for a moment, letting every monster imagine the power he promised.

[Hear my oath!]

[I SWEAR TO BRING YOU ALL INTO THE GRANDEST BATTLE!]

[I SWEAR THAT EVERY ONE OF YOU SHALL TASTE ITS GLORY!]

Moku’s voice reached its crescendo, creating a shockwave that shook the grey dust from the sky.

[And after that, after we have finished the grandest battle in this mortal world, we shall return and fight together again in the Promised Land! I may not get there with you. But I assure you all, one day, I will fight by your side once more!]

[But before that happens, come with me to feast in the fires of battle in this mortal world!]

Moku took a deep breath, a breath that seemed to pull in all the energy of the Capital, before shouting one final word that bound all their souls together:

[Because we all... are MONSTERS!]
