The Return Of The Exiled Villain
Chapter 331: Conquering The Jasmine’s Dungeon
Rustle...
Gray’s fingers continued to move gently across the smooth, shimmering scale on Seria’s forehead, tracing the elegant ridges slowly.
The scale was surprisingly warm, almost velvety despite its hardness, and each touch sent a faint ripple of red lightning dancing across her body, not dangerous but gentle and even warm, like a pleased purr made visible.
"Huughm..."
Seria let out another low, deep rumble from her chest, the sound vibrating through the entire cavern.
Her massive head leaned slightly into his hand, eyes half-closed in clear contentment.
Her long neck curled more protectively around him, the tip of her snout resting near his shoulder as if she were a colossal guardian claiming something precious.
"...This feels... nice," she admitted quietly, her majestic voice carrying a rare hint of vulnerability.
"It has been a very long time since anyone touched me like this... without fear."
Gray didn’t speak.
He simply continued stroking her, moving his hand down to the side of her jaw, feeling the powerful muscles beneath the flawless white scales.
The red lightning crackled softly under his palm, tickling his skin with pleasant warmth.
He stroked along the elegant curve of her neck, fingers gliding over scale after perfect scale.
Seria’s wings shifted slightly, the golden-yellow membranes unfolding just enough to cast a soft glow over both of them.
Her breathing slowed, becoming deep and relaxed, almost sleepy.
Inside Gray’s mind, however, someone was growing increasingly impatient.
Jasmine cleared her throat loudly.
[Ahem.]
The sound was deliberate and sharp, cutting through his trance like cold water.
Gray blinked, snapping back to reality. His hand paused mid-stroke on Seria’s neck.
[You seem to be enjoying yourself a little too much.]
Jasmine remarked dryly.
[Not that I blame you... But perhaps you should focus?]
"Uhh..." Gray exhaled slowly, a faint, embarrassed smile tugging at his lips as he pulled his hand back.
Seria opened one eye lazily, tilting her head slightly in mild confusion at the sudden stop.
"Is something wrong?" she asked, her crimson-slit pupils focusing on him once more.
Gray shook his head lightly.
"No... nothing’s wrong," he replied calmly. "I just got a little distracted by how beautiful you are."
Seria huffed softly, a sound that could almost be mistaken for a chuckle. She didn’t pull away, but she did lift her head a little higher, studying him with renewed interest.
"You are strange, mortal," she murmured.
"Bold... and honest. I like that."
Gray gave her one last gentle pat on the side of her snout before stepping back slightly, regaining his composure.
Jasmine’s voice echoed in his mind again, this time with clear teasing.
[If you keep petting her like that, I’m going to get jealous.]
Gray’s lips twitched.
’Noted.’
Seria watched him for a moment longer, then spoke with quiet authority.
"You have my approval, Gray Vireux D’Aurélion. You may proceed to the core."
The moment she granted permission, the cavern responded.
The crystals pulsed brightly, and a new passage opened at the far end, leading to the dungeon’s true heart.
Seria’s body glowed with white light.
In a swirl of energy, she shrank rapidly until she was the size of a large eagle.
Her white scales still shimmered beautifully, tiny wings folded neatly, red lightning dancing playfully around her.
Without hesitation, she flew over and landed gracefully on Gray’s right shoulder, curling her long tail around the back of his neck for balance.
Her small head rested near his cheek, light blue eyes looking forward with calm authority.
"Let’s go," she said softly.
Gray nodded faintly, his lips curling up.
He began walking toward the newly opened passage, Seria perched comfortably like a living crown.
The corridor was wide and elegant, lined with glowing crystals and ancient carvings. The air grew richer with mana the deeper they went.
Seria remained mostly silent, occasionally shifting to get more comfortable. Her red lightning sparked gently against his skin, feeling strangely pleasant.
After several minutes, they reached the end.
A massive, ornate door of pure white and gold stood before them.
It opened slowly on its own, revealing the dungeon’s core, a circular chamber with a fist-sized orb of pure, condensed mana floating at the center, swirling with every color imaginable.
Gray stepped forward and grasped the orb.
The moment he touched it, the orb dissolved into light, merging with him completely.
A surge of pure energy flooded his body, and new notifications flashed in his status, but he ignored them for now.
He turned to Seria, who was still perched on his shoulder.
"Thank you," he said sincerely.
Seria huffed softly and nuzzled her small head against his cheek once.
"You are welcome."
"Ugh..."
A surge of information flooded his mind. the complete blueprint of the inheritance dungeon. Every trap, every mechanism, every hidden room, every rune formation... it all became his to command.
He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the knowledge settle.
When he opened them again, the entire dungeon responded to his will.
The crystals in the walls pulsed brighter, acknowledging their new master.
He could feel the traps in the previous halls, whether that was the spike fields, the illusion loops, the gravity reversals... all of them now under his absolute control.
He could activate, deactivate, or modify them with a single thought.
But there was only one thing he truly wanted to do.
Gray turned to Seria, who was still perched comfortably on his shoulder in her smaller form.
Her light blue eyes with crimson slits watched him curiously, her small white body radiating quiet power.
"I’m going to destroy the dungeon," he said calmly. "I want to return as much of Jasmine’s power as possible. Is that acceptable to you?"
Seria was silent for a few seconds, then gave a slow, graceful nod.
"Do as you wish. This place has served its purpose. But... those crystals," she added, her gaze shifting toward the massive clusters of crystals covering the walls and floor.
"They are beautiful. Pocket them for me, if you can. They would look lovely in my hoard."
Gray looked at the countless shimmering crystals and smiled fondly.
"You really are a dragon," he muttered, half-teasing.
Seria huffed softly, a small puff of warm air brushing his cheek.
"I am. And I like shiny things."
Gray shook his head with a small smile but complied without complaint.
He walked around the chamber, using his mana to carefully extract the most valuable crystals.
He stored hundreds of them into his dimensional storage, the pile growing rapidly.
Seria watched with clear satisfaction, occasionally nudging his shoulder with her snout when he missed a particularly beautiful one.
After nearly twenty minutes of thorough collecting, Gray had emptied most of the visible crystal deposits.
The cavern looked noticeably dimmer, but still breathtaking.
He turned back to the center of the room, where the main core, now a smaller, floating orb after the initial merger, floated in the air.
This was the heart of the dungeon.
Destroying it would collapse the entire structure and release all the stored mana back into the world... or, in this case, directly to Jasmine.
"Are you ready?" he asked Seria.
The small dragon nodded, curling her tail a little tighter around his neck for stability.
"Do it."
Gray reached out and gripped the core with his right hand.
The orb pulsed violently in protest, but he poured his mana into it, overriding its defenses. Cracks began to form across its surface, glowing with intense light.
Then, with a sharp motion, he squeezed.
CRAACKLEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeee!!!!
The core shattered.
A massive wave of pure, condensed mana erupted outward like a supernova.
The dungeon trembled violently.
The walls cracked, crystals shattered, and the ceiling began to collapse in large chunks. The entire inheritance dungeon was coming down.
Gray stood at the center of the chaos, eyes closed, guiding the surging mana toward Jasmine.
Inside his mind, Jasmine almost gasped.
[Gray... this is...!] 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The energy started flooding into her body, and her power level, which had been stuck at a mere 2.1%, began to climb rapidly.
2.1% → 3.4% → 5.7% → 8.2% → 11.9%
The increase was dramatic.
Eleven point nine percent.
It was still a fraction of her full strength, but the difference was night and day. Gray could feel her presence growing stronger, more stable, more alive inside him.
Jasmine let out a soft, trembling sigh of relief and joy.
[Thank you... Gray... This is more than I ever expected...]
Seria watched the collapsing dungeon with calm eyes, her small form steady on Gray’s shoulder.
She didn’t seem worried about the falling rocks and crumbling structure.
With a casual flick of her tail, she created a protective barrier of red lightning around them, deflecting any debris.
The cavern shook harder.
Huge chunks of the ceiling crashed down, but Gray and Seria remained untouched in their bubble of safety.
The beautiful crystals that hadn’t been collected shattered into sparkling dust, filling the air with a rainbow of light.
Gray stood motionless, letting the last remnants of the dungeon’s mana flow into Jasmine. When it finally ended, the entire structure began to collapse in earnest.
He turned and walked toward the exit, Seria perched proudly on his shoulder.
Behind him, the inheritance dungeon, the place that had once given him everything, crumbled into ruin.
As they emerged from the collapsing entrance, the canyon outside was bathed in moonlight.
RUMBLEEEEEEEE!
The broken archway finally gave way, collapsing completely with a thunderous roar. Dust and debris filled the air.
Gray stopped at the edge of the canyon, looking back at the destroyed site with a quiet expression.
Seria nuzzled his cheek gently.
"You did well," she said softly.
"Jasmine is lucky to have you."
Gray gave a small nod, then began walking back toward the D’Aurélion Manor area, where Aurora was likely still waiting.
[Gray... Now I can manifest my whole body without any problems...]
’...Great, I can’t wait to see you,’ his lips curled up.
’Seria will also love to see you...’
He glanced down at the beautiful creature on his shoulder... seeing her majestic and beautiful scales, he couldn’t help but fall into a trance again.
[Ahem!]
’...Oops, my bad.’
