The Rise Of A Shadowsmith
Chapter 120: First Quest: Second Phase (2)
Clutching the Mastersmith’s hammer tightly, Shinon charged at the Golem, his movements fluid and precise. The enhanced hammer cut through the air swiftly, its dark energy leaving trails of shadow in its wake.
The Golem retaliated with a thunderous swing of its massive stone fists, but Shinon’s reflexes were honed. He darted to the side, narrowly avoiding the devastating blow.
With a swift counterattack, he struck the Golem’s leg, the enhanced hammer crashing against the stony surface with a resounding impact.
Shinon expected the crack to heal as before, but to his surprise, cracks spread across the Golem’s leg, a sign of the hammer’s newfound power. The Golem stumbled, momentarily thrown off balance.
[Guardian Golem has been affected by Erosion! The healing effect has been negated!]
Seizing the opportunity, Shinon pressed his advantage, raining down blow after blow upon the weakened leg.
The Golem roared in anger, its movements becoming more erratic as it struggled to regain footing. But Shinon, fueled by the hammer’s enhanced abilities, remained relentless. He danced around the Golem, striking with precision and timing, exploiting every weakness.
Unaware of the injury he had sustained, Shinon relentlessly pressed forward, his singular focus fixed on defeating the formidable Golem before him.
The pain in his head, a result of the strike from the guardian statue, went unnoticed amidst the chaos of battle. It wasn’t until the warm sensation of blood trickling down his face obscured his vision that he realised the extent of his injury.
"Argh... gotta stop the bleeding before it gets worse." Shinon gritted his teeth before casting [Shadow Heal] to heal the wounds he was unaware of.
With a grimace, he wiped away the crimson stain, his resolve undeterred by the momentary setback.
The battle raged on, each clash of hammer against stone sending shockwaves through the chamber. Shadows swirled around Shinon, enhancing his speed and strength, allowing him to match the Golem’s formidable power.
As the fight wore on, the Golem grew desperate. It unleashed a barrage of attacks, its fists crashing down with bone-crushing force. But Shinon’s newfound enhancements allowed him to dodge and weave through the onslaught, his hammer striking true with each opportune moment.
With each strike, the Golem weakened further, its stony exterior crumbling under the relentless assault. But a dramatic twist unfolded just as Shinon prepared for the final blow.
A surge of energy pulsed through the Golem, its shattered form trembling with newfound strength. Shinon’s eyes widened in disbelief as the Golem absorbed the shadows within the chamber. The dark essence coursed through its veins, fueling its resurgence.
"This... how is he using shadowmancy!?"
The tables had turned. Once on the brink of defeat, the Golem stood tall and imposing. Its eyes gleamed with an eerie light, and a malicious grin spread across its stony face.
Shinon’s heart raced as he assessed the situation. The Golem had absorbed the very essence he had harnessed to empower himself. The shadow enhancement that had granted him an advantage was now turned against him.
"Did he adapt to my shadows? How is that even possible?"
But Shinon refused to back down. He had come too far to falter now. Gripping the Mastersmith’s hammer tightly, he summoned his resolve and prepared to face this new, even more, formidable foe.
The battle between Shinon and the Golem reached a new intensity, each strike and parrying a clash of titanic forces. The chamber shook with their fury, the very air crackling with energy. Shadows and stone clashed in a dazzling display of power and determination.
As the fight wore on, Shinon’s fatigue began to creep in, his muscles protesting against the ceaseless exertion. Yet, he refused to yield, drawing upon his inner reserves of strength.
Sweat dripped down Shinon’s brow as he launched a final flurry of strikes, each aimed to exploit the Golem’s weakening defence. His movements were a blur, his strikes a symphony of precision and power. Cracks marred the Golem’s stony exterior, its form staggering on the brink of collapse.
Just as victory seemed within Shinon’s grasp, the Golem unleashed a devastating counterattack. A massive stone fist connected with Shinon’s side, sending him hurtling through the air. He crashed against the chamber wall, pain coursing through his body.
"Damn it... I can’t even use [Shadow heal] right now..." Shinon mumbled.
Groaning, Shinon struggled to his feet, his vision blurred but his resolve unwavering. Blood trickled from a gash on his forehead, right where he got injured by the statues. Yet his gaze remained fixed upon the Golem. The battle was not over.
He quickly retrieved the care package Selena had given him to rough patch the wound to stop the bleeding from becoming a severe problem.
As the fight raged on, the outcome remained uncertain. Shinon, fueled by his unwavering determination and the power of the awakened hammer, continued to push himself beyond his limits.
He knew that he had to prevail because failing the task would forever lock the mission, and he might not be able to complete the Ascension quest.
"Just die already!"
Shinon’s muscles burned with exertion as he faced off against the colossal Golem. Sweat dripped down his brow, mingling with the blood that trickled from various wounds across his body.
Shinon tried using [Shadow Mimic] to gain a skill from the Golem and hopefully defeat the creature using its own powers. Unfortunately, the skill only worked on organic lifeforms, which meant Shinon couldn’t enhance his stats even if he wanted.
The Golem loomed over Shinon, its stony visage devoid of emotion or weakness. It swung its massive fists, aiming to crush him beneath its immense strength.
But Shinon was ready. Despite his exhaustion, he managed to evade the Golem’s first strike with a nimble sidestep, his agility and reflexes working overtime to ensure his safety.
Seizing the opportunity, Shinon lunged forward, his hammer arcing through the air in a sweeping motion. The enhanced weapon connected with the Golem’s thigh, sending vibrations through his arms. Cracks spread across the stony surface, evidence of the damage inflicted.
But the Golem’s resilience was astounding. It retaliated with a thunderous punch aimed at Shinon’s head.
Reacting with lightning reflexes, Shinon summoned a shield of swirling shadows just in time, the impact reverberating through his body. He staggered backwards but remained on his feet, refusing to yield.
Gritting his teeth, Shinon continued his assault. He focused on his shadowmancy abilities, using them to enhance his speed and agility. Shadows trailed behind him as he darted around the Golem, striking with calculated precision.
With each blow, Shinon’s confidence grew. Soon enough, the Golem’s movements grew sluggish, its once-mighty form now marred by deep fissures.
Shinon could sense the Golem’s weakened state and pressed his advantage, his strikes becoming more relentless and powerful as he pored every bit of [Domination points] into [Shadow Enhancement], making the mastersmith’s hammer even stronger.
Finally, with a resounding crash, the Golem’s towering figure crumbled. The chamber fell into silence, except for Shinon’s ragged breathing. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, mingling with the dust of victory.
As the shadows around him dissipated, Shinon stood amidst the wreckage, his chest rising and falling with exertion. The enhanced hammer, its glow fading, returned to its dormant state.
As the dust settled from the battle with the Golem, Shinon’s gaze shifted towards a previously concealed door. It stood defiantly, beckoning him forward with an air of mystery.
Intrigued by what lay beyond, Shinon approached cautiously, his hand outstretched to touch the ornate handle. The door creaked open when his fingers made contact, revealing a treasure room bathed in soft light.
"This is... JACKPOT!" Shinon exclaimed, forgetting all about his injuries.
Shinon’s eyes widened in awe as he took in the sight before him. The room was filled with rare crafting materials, their shimmering hues reflecting the light.
Among them were shards of crystallised shadow, remnants of the Golem’s stony form pulsating with latent power.
Carefully, Shinon collected the materials, recognising their immense value in his future creations. He marvelled at their potential, envisioning the magnificent armour and weapons he could forge with them.
Alongside the crafting materials, Shinon’s eyes fell upon a small, intricately carved chest. Inside, he discovered five vials of potion, each labelled with its unique properties.
There was a potion of healing, a potion of strength, a potion of agility, a potion of protection, and a potion of shadow affinity. Shinon carefully stowed them away, knowing they would prove invaluable in future battles and challenges.
However, it was a piece of Shadowsteel that truly captured Shinon’s attention. The dark, lustrous metal shimmered with an otherworldly glow, exuding an aura of power and mystery.
Shinon’s heart quickened as he held the Shadowsteel in his hands, knowing that it possessed the potential to become the centrepiece of his most incredible creation yet.
"If I use it correctly, I might be able to forge a legendary gear from it," Shinon mumbled, remembering his red monster core. "Since it’s a legendary grade material, I have a high chance of crafting a legendary weapon using Shadowsteel!"
Just as Shinon revelled in his newfound treasures, a notification from the system appeared before him. It informed him that the scenario for the next task was not yet prepared due to his exceptional skill and speed in defeating the Golem.
As a result, he would have to wait a few days before returning to the dungeon to continue his journey.
"Are you seriously telling me it was supposed to take days to defeat the Guardian Statue and Golem?"
Shinon’s eyes widened in disbelief, but he could do nothing about it. If the system wanted him to wait, he had to wait.
Leaving the treasure room behind, Shinon went back through the labyrinth, his mind already filled with plans for the Shadowsteel and the future creations it would birth.
"I didn’t think I would be allowed to leave the dungeon like this. Well, I guess its all for good."
As he stepped out of the dungeon’s entrance, he savoured his victory before he noticed a group of five walkers heading towards him.
"Back to the usual routine, I guess." Shinon shook his head before rushing towards the zombies.
