Chapter 1091: Raising Suspicion?

The captain walked through the chaotic streets toward one of the posts where he needed to report.

Unbeknown to anyone, the captain was Aldrian in disguise.

After looking through the captain’s memories, Aldrian killed him and threw the body into the void of space. He learned the captain’s habits and mannerisms before taking his appearance.

Now came the real challenge. Would the devils be convinced by his acting?

Although he had learned every behavior of that captain, he was not sure he could fool every devil. This was especially true for those who had known the captain for a long time.

The most concerning problem was his energy and aura. He could transform his golden energy into devil energy, but the moment any devil sensed it, they might react with shock instead.

He understood that once his energy turned into devil energy, it would become a form of powerful devil energy because of its purity.

He could only hope this disguise would hold for as long as possible.

Even so, he chose this infiltration method because it allowed him to move much more freely. From the captain’s memories, he had already learned what had happened in the central region of Heaven recently.

If he wanted to reach the true center of Heaven as quickly as possible, then he needed to move as one of the devils.

He needed to avoid leaving any traces for as long as possible, especially killings. Any unusual change in this place might attract the attention of higher-ranking devils because the current situation in the central region of Heaven had become extremely sensitive.

Since the death of the Vampire King, chaos had spread across this world and the nearby worlds. At first, the news of his death was hidden from the lower-ranking devils.

However, as time passed, many devils realized something was wrong. Rumors slowly spread until everyone finally learned the truth.

The Vampire King was dead.

The revelation caused a shock. How could Vampire King die? What kind of enemy had he faced?

All the devils here knew that the Vampire King had departed somewhere with a large portion of the army under the code name Devil’s Judgment. Yet after waiting for two years, the only news that returned was his death.

What about the massive army that had left with him?

Still, the chaos across various worlds did not last long. The other three overlords stepped in to stabilize the situation. For now, the southern Heaven was under the control of those three overlords.

However, a rumor caught Aldrian’s attention.

The rumor said that many immortals had descended. According to what had spread, countless immortals had arrived since last year and gathered near the center of Heaven.

Aldrian was inclined to believe this rumor.

If it was true, then it meant those gods had finally begun to treat him as a serious problem.

He did not doubt that after he killed Vampire King and countless other devils, those gods would take more radical actions.

Sending many immortals down openly and in such numbers was a clear sign of their move. He did not know the exact number of immortals they had sent, but the word countless in the rumor suggested that the number might truly be enormous.

Even if there were only a thousand, those gods would have to withstand a tremendous burden to weaken the law of causality enough for all of them to descend.

The more immortals they sent, the greater the burden they would have to endure.

He did not know how far those gods were willing to push themselves. Given enough time, they might even try to send Divine Realm cultivators.

’I need to make the entire First Heaven my domain as soon as possible,’ Aldrian thought solemnly.

As he continued walking toward his destination and thinking about how he could reach the center of Heaven, he suddenly stopped. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

His expression shifted.

An idea appeared in his mind.

’Wait... maybe this situation is not so bad. With so many immortals descending, I might be able to use them to my advantage. I already have an idea how to make use of them.’

His eyes gleamed.

’If this works, there will be division among those gods.’

A faint smirk appeared on his face before he continued walking.

He finally reached a building without any sign and pushed the door open.

Inside, he saw a man with a bored expression and a relaxed posture, his legs resting on the table. The chair leaned against the wall behind him for support so it would not fall backward.

This man had peak Pseudo Immortal Establishment Stage cultivation.

The man looked at Aldrian the moment he entered, yet he did not say anything. It was as if he did not care who Aldrian was or who entered this place.

Aldrian walked toward the table and spoke once he stopped in front of him.

"I want to give the patrol report from Group Eric."

His voice had already changed to match the captain’s, and even the way he spoke sounded the same. His expression carried a slight arrogance despite the cultivator in front of him being much stronger.

The man took out a book from beneath the table and tossed it onto the tabletop.

"Fill the report there," he said.

Aldrian did not respond and simply began writing the report. His handwriting matched the one he had seen in the captain’s memories, and he tried to make every movement as natural as possible so it would resemble the captain’s habits.

Aldrian could sense that the man was observing him. The man’s gaze never left him.

Still, Aldrian showed no sign of panic. Even his heartbeat remained steady as he calmly continued writing the report.

"Done," he said after finishing the report.

The man picked up the book and read the contents for a moment.

"All clear. You may go," he said after reading it.

Aldrian did not reply. He simply turned and walked toward the door.

However, before he could reach it, the man behind him spoke.

"Eric, how is Bernard’s condition? Is he still crazy about his dual cultivation partner?"

Aldrian stopped and turned to look at the man. His expression frowned as if he were looking at a weirdo.

"What the fuck are you talking about? Since when does Bernard have a dual cultivation partner? Did you hit your head somewhere?" he asked.

The man raised his eyebrows, but then a smile slowly appeared on his face.

"Alright, alright. My mistake. You may go," he said.

Aldrian snorted.

"What the fuck is wrong with you today?"

He then walked out of the building.

After Aldrian left, the man narrowed his eyes.

’Is it my imagination?’ he thought.

When he saw the captain earlier, he could not help but feel that something about his aura was different. The captain’s cultivation was clearly at the middle stage of Pseudo Immortal Establishment, yet his aura felt much purer and stronger.

It was different from when he saw him this morning.

Still, the aura was undeniably that of a devil.

His instincts immediately warned him that the person might not be the real captain Eric. He did not know how this man could release the aura of a devil but he could be a spy sent by an unknown force.

He carefully observed the captain’s behavior.

There was nothing strange. The captain acted the same way he usually did while writing his report. His mannerisms were also normal.

This left him confused.

If this person were truly a spy, then it would be almost impossible for him to imitate the captain’s movements with such precision.

His suspicion began to lessen, yet it did not completely disappear.

In the end, he decided to test him with a question that could trap him if he really was a spy. If he answered wrongly about Bernard, then there would be no doubt that he was a spy.

However, the answer and the way he responded were exactly how the captain would react.

There was nothing wrong with him.

The man could not find anything strange other than the powerful devil aura coming from him.

’What happened for his aura to suddenly change like that?’ the man thought as he tapped his index finger repeatedly on the table.

’What should I do? Should I also write this in the report?’

After thinking for a moment, he made his decision.

’Let’s write this in the report. They want us to report any strange details we notice after all.’

Aldrian, who had already walked far from the building, was also thinking about his meeting with the man just now.

He realized that he had already fallen under that man’s suspicion.

Fortunately, his acting had not revealed anything. He could sense that the man’s suspicion had lessened.

However, a seed of doubt had already been planted in that man’s heart. At this moment, that was not a bad thing for his future plan.

A faint smirk appeared on his face. That seed of doubt could become useful for him later.

For now, he needed to return to the place where he was staying in this world. There was something he needed to do so he could carry out the plan forming in his mind.
