Chapter 25: The blue-skin woman

The sky was a swirling mix of green and blue, while a striking pink and purple moon hung heavily in the atmosphere above.

Taking in his surroundings, Solomon looked around at where they had landed; the environment looked completely different from anything he was familiar with.

He quickly realized they were not in a typical landscape. Looking at the terrain stretching out beside him, he muttered, "Yep, we’re finally at the alien farm."

"Yeah, looks like it," Dylan replied.

Suddenly, Dylan grabbed him and dropped him behind something that looked like a tall, dark lump of trash. Solomon was caught off guard by the abrupt movement. Ducking into the hiding spot, he peered out and saw a woman dressed in a black long coat, holding a briefcase, rushing off in a different direction with hurried steps.

The most unusual thing about her was her skin, it was completely blue. The thought immediately flashed through his mind that this was an alien, confirming that this entire world matched the mission parameters, excluding the literal idea of an actual farm.

"We have come to this place, so you should stay behind me," Dylan said, turning to look at him as a warning.

Dylan reached into his pocket and pulled out a sword. Solomon watched the action in surprise, wondering where the weapon had suddenly come from. Then again, given his own experience with the system, not many things shocked him anymore.

Dylan smiled, looking at him with a cocky, almost coquettish glint in his eyes. "This sword... I got it from one of my past mission worlds. It comes in handy. It’s my primary weapon. In case we get attacked by some aliens, you can use something like this to clear them off."

"Okay," Solomon nodded, realizing he needed a weapon of his own. "Then I need a sword too."

Dylan shook his head. "No, you don’t need a sword. Your system will guide you well, man. I might be your partner, but don’t expect me to be babysitting you."

Solomon’s brows furrowed as he felt annoyed by his words. He snapped back directly, "Well, okay, Dylan, I don’t expect you to take care of me anyway. I learned taekwondo."

Solomon’s ego was already bruised. He had always hated the elite A-class types, and Dylan was proving to be just as cocky and arrogant as the rest of them.

The mere assumption that he was a weakling pissed Solomon off, and he was determined to prove Dylan wrong. He would protect himself and definitely would not rely on this guy’s support. Solomon was already starting to regret having this guy as a partner for such a tough team assignment.

Just then, the ring on Solomon’s finger thrummed, triggering a reaction from his system. He was incredibly glad the system couldn’t read his exact emotions at that moment, because it probably would have said something to annoy or piss him off even further.

Solomon let out a sigh, ignoring the irritation, and summoned the system interface to bring up the holographic screen floating before him. He needed more details about this mission world.

The text on the glowing blue screen read:

> World:>Alien Farm>

> Classification:>Normal Alien Civilization>

> Note: ’Alien Farm’ is simply the title of the mission.

>

As Solomon read further, he discovered that this mission world was highly organized.

The inhabitants possessed advanced alien functions but lived much like human beings, essentially acting as an extension of the normal human race.

The society was set roughly a thousand years into the future.

As he scrolled, each section of the screen kept updating with new information:

> Official humans and alien lifeforms live together in a state of superficial peace, but the ’Alien Farm’ is a secret project run by certain alien factions who oppose the peace treaty.

>

Furthermore, there were different system tasker integrated into this world, blending seamlessly into the normal human world from these aliens. Because of this, the mission world didn’t require Solomon to wear an alien skin disguise. However, they had materialized directly inside a highly dangerous zone.

The text instructed: Operate and establish a link to the zentari gem. All players share a native connection to the zentari gem based on their arrival coordinates.

Finishing the text, Solomon closed the system screen, and the light faded away. Standing around here wasn’t going to uncover any more information, and he couldn’t exactly strike out on his own without telling his so-called partner.

Turning to Dylan, he said, "We need to move. We’re looking for the zentari gem, but the system didn’t give us a tracker, so we have to find it on our own. I suggest we follow that lady who looks weird and mysterious, the one carrying the briefcase."

Dylan looked at him and gave a casual shrug of his shoulders. "Okay."

Solomon was relieved that Dylan didn’t argue with the plan. Since the lady in the black coat was already getting far ahead of them, he asked, "How are we going to follow her without being spotted?"

Dylan smirked. "I have a tool that can make me invisible. No one is going to know I’m there; nobody can see me. Well... it’s only meant for one person, not two." He flashed another arrogant smirk.

Solomon’s expression darkened. Is this really the kind of partner I’m expected to work with? he thought bitterly. He completely refuses to assist and keeps all his tools to himself.

Realizing he needed a tracking or stealth tool immediately, he internally called out to his assistant.

The assistant responded promptly, its voice sounding mechanical as it spoke into his mind:

> "If you require assistance, you may use system credits or currency to purchase items like the invisibility earing. Please note that system credit functions differently than normal money. To proceed, you can acquire a concealment item that grants invisibility, though it will cost you 2,000 soul coins."

>

Two thousand soul coins! Solomon remembered how much power those coins held based on what he had experienced back at his new house, and yet a tiny necessary tool like this was going to drain a massive amount. Still, he couldn’t complain.

The system provided unique advantages that normal players didn’t have. Through the system’s explanation, Solomon came to understand that regular users like Dylan couldn’t simply purchase items or weapons with soul coins or money whenever they pleased; they could only use the specific rewards the system chose to give them.

That explained why Dylan was so stingy with his gear, he had to work incredibly hard for every single piece he owned.

"System, give me the invisibility earring," Solomon commanded internally.

> [Request received, Host.]

>

Immediately following the confirmation, Solomon watched his soul coin balance drop drastically from its previously approved amount to a much lower number. A moment later, a small earring materialized directly into the palm of his hand. Looking down at the jewelry, a sudden realization hit him, he was going to have to pierce his own ear right then and there.

Staring down at the invisibility earring, Solomon realized another dilemma was unfolding right in front of Dylan. If he wanted to use the stealth item right now, he was going to have to pierce his ear on the spot.

Hoping to do it before Dylan noticed what he was doing, Solomon quickly pressed the sharp post straight through his earlobe. A sharp, stinging pain shot through his jaw, and a hot drop of blood welled up, dripping down onto the tip of his finger.

Dylan caught the sudden movement and stared at him, his eyes wide with bewilderment. "What are you doing? What is that?"

Solomon wiped the blood away, perfectly mimicking the exact smug vibe and dismissive attitude Dylan had shown him just moments earlier. "Well, let’s just say it’s something handy."

Dylan’s jaw dropped in absolute disbelief.

"What? How did you get that? You haven’t even completed a single mission in this world yet, and you already have an item like that? Where did it come from?"

"Let’s just say it’s something I worked very hard for," Solomon chuckled softly, thoroughly enjoying how quickly the tables had turned.

With the earring securely in place, Solomon activated the effect. Dylan engaged his own tool, and both of them completely vanished from sight, their figures dissolving into the air.

Now completely invisible, they silently tracked the alien lady down the corridor. She navigated swiftly through the narrow walkways until she reached a secure door, where she immediately began typing a security code into the electronic panel.

Standing close behind her shoulder, Solomon carefully memorized the exact sequence of numbers she pressed.

The heavy door began to slide open.

Solomon knew that if they waited for her to walk through and tried to open it again themselves, the sound of the mechanical door cycling twice would immediately give their presence away.

Solomon leaned close to where he assumed Dylan was standing and whispered, "At the count of two, we slip in behind her before the door closes."

Dylan silently agreed, catching onto the tactical logic instantly.

The exact moment the lady stepped across the threshold, they both slipped inside right behind her, keeping their footsteps completely silent against the floor. The heavy door slid shut behind them with a soft click.

But the moment it closed, they froze. The alien lady had stopped walking. She turned around, her large, bright blue eyes staring directly at the exact spot where they stood, looking so focused and piercing it felt as if she could see right through their invisibility.
