Finnegan

"Should I get her flowers?"

Henry was quiet on the other end for a few seconds. "How angry is she?"

"Very angry? I have seen her angry, but not like this," I grumbled, eyeing the door to my office.

Abigail would be here any minute. I couldn’t believe I had to resort to trickery just to get her back in the bloody office.

The lunch I had ordered for both of us sat on the ceramic table in the middle of my office. I knew she would be furious, I just didn’t know what the hell to say or do to make it better.

"Then she’ll throw them at your face." Henry chuckled. I could hear him moving around on his end, something clattering in the background.

"Never thought I would see the day you asked me for relationship advice."

"Drop it, Henry."

"I’m just saying," he teased.

"Are you going to help me or not?!"

"You’ve got it bad. Ooohh, Finn has it bad for his assistant."

"Goodbye, Henry."

I should have known he’d tease me.

"Don’t hang up, I’m being supportive!"

I ended the call, dropping the phone on my desk with a clatter. I knew I was knee deep when I had texted her twice. They had ticked blue, which meant she had read them but refused to respond.

It felt like someone placed a huge as hell elephant on my chest, and it could only be removed if I saw her.

I had practically been shaking with excitement at the thought of seeing her today, and she was beautiful as ever.

Fuck, those pretty blue eyes had stared so blankly at me all day. Where was her smile, where were the lights that danced in her eyes when she saw me?

When did she start to matter so much like this? What was this maddening desire to make her happy, to clear whatever this was between us so she could go back to being my bubbly, brimming with life, Abigail?

My office door opened, and along with the slight breeze that entered, the scent of jasmine, her scent, followed along.

She looked gorgeous in green. A scorching heat filled my bones as my eyes raked from her black pumps up those pretty long legs, over the flare of her hips in the dress as it hugged her tightly, up her waist, and then the deep neckline of her dress that Jason had ogled this morning.

That little piece of-fuck, I shouldn’t be so possessive when it came to her, but I couldn’t help it.

Her dark hair was down and loose around her shoulders. Her cornflower blue eyes were blank again as she stalked to my desk, hips swaying.

They narrowed on the file sitting right next to my laptop.

"Isn’t that the file you said you couldn’t find?"

"Maybe," I muttered, wishing she would look at me, dammit. "Read me the third page, Miss Kellerman."

Her eyes flashed to me then, lips curled in irritation. When she reached to take the file, my hand closed around her wrist. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Let go," she muttered, trying to yank her hand away.

I tugged her forward and pulled her gently into my lap.

She landed with a small sound and immediately sat up straight, trying to get off.

"Abigail,"

"You don’t get to touch me. Let me go this-"

"I’m sorry,"

She stopped struggling then, her head whipping up, blue eyes glaring at me.

"I’m sorry about the other day," I murmured. "I left without explaining. You deserved better than that, and I am sorry."

She eyed me warily, biting her plump bottom lip before demanding. "What happened?"

"It’s..." I exhaled. "It’s complicated. There are things I need to sort before I can explain them properly."

She gave a dry, bitter laugh and tried to get up. "Right. Keep your secrets and keep your hands to yourself-"

"Give me a month,"

I cupped her face, tilting it up, wishing I could erase the hurt in her pretty eyes.

"One month," I said. "There are things I need to... I need to sort it out. When they’re dealt with, I’ll tell you everything. All of it." My thumb caressed her cheek.

"I just need a month, Abigail. Can you give me that? Please?"

She eyed me pensively before replying. "I won’t wait longer than a month,"

"Deal," I whispered and pulled her closer, pressing my lips to her forehead. A smile tugged at my lips when she sagged against me.

"I missed you," I took a deep inhale of her hair, closing my eyes tightly, burying my face in the silky strands. "You didn’t answer any of my texts, you have no idea how insane that drives me."

"You texted me only twice," she chuckled with amusement.

"I was trying to preserve some dignity, woman," I grunted, and my chest warmed when she gave a little laugh.

I tilted her face up and crashed my lips to hers, taking her mouth in a slow and deep kiss, tasting her, my body tightening with pleasure at the feel of her soft, supple body against me.

She shifted in my lap and rocked her hips against my rising cock. I groaned against her mouth, gripping the desk as a shudder ran through my body.

"You did that on purpose," I hissed against her mouth.

"I missed you, too." She whispered, weaving her hand in my hair.

Her phone buzzed with an alarm before we could kiss again, and she giggled. "We need to get up, you have a conference call in ten minutes."

My chest rumbled when she leaned in to bite my bottom lip, sending a jolt straight to my cock. My arms tightened around her waist.

"Will you come home with me tonight?"

"Maybe," she purred before sliding off my thighs. "I’ll go set up for the call."

The lights were back in her eyes. The weight on my chest felt lighter. I pulled out my phone and fired off a message to River.

Can Angel stay at your place tonight?

I had missed Abigail and I had to be balls deep inside her tonight or I would lose it. Angel couldn’t be next door when I was doing that.
