The Substitute Ex-Wife: Seeking a Divorce
Chapter 208: Another Accident
"What’s wrong? What happened?" Anita heard the commotion in the changing room and hurried out.
"Nothing. Don’t worry. There’s some business to attend to. I’m going to the office. Sleep a little longer." Owen didn’t want Anita to worry, so he leaned closer and kissed her gently.
As soon as Owen left, Anita started to worry. Although she hadn’t heard Owen’s voice clearly on the phone just now, she knew from the anxious look on his face that things weren’t that simple.
Anita sat at the head of the bed and picked up her phone. She wanted to do something, but she didn’t know where to start. She could only worry.
Owen drove all the way to the company and parked the car before rushing upstairs in the basement elevator.
"How’s the situation now?" Owen asked as soon as he went upstairs and saw the marketing manager waiting at the office door.
"The public relations department is investigating where the news was leaked from, but there are more and more fans downstairs asking how Miranda was injured and how she is. The security guards downstairs are almost unable to stop them anymore." The marketing manager said in one breath and quickly looked at Owen.
Owen didn’t expect things to escalate so quickly. He didn’t say anything after hearing this and just turned around and walked towards the hall.
He stood beside the glass in the hall and looked down. As expected, there was a large group of people gathered downstairs. There were even some fans who were already stopping the employees at work and asking about Miranda’s injuries.
"Let the public relations manager clarify it with everyone first," Owen said to the marketing manager after a moment of thought.
"Then... what should he say?" the marketing manager asked again while wiping the sweat off his face.
"To be honest, since the news that Miranda was injured during the filming here has already been leaked, and this is the truth, we can’t shirk responsibility," Owen said while glancing at the crowd downstairs again.
"But you have to tell everyone that Miranda’s injuries aren’t serious. If anything happens to her, we will release news of it immediately. Tell them to disperse."
"Yes, CEO. I’ll get someone to do it immediately." Hearing Owen’s words, the marketing manager nodded and hurried out.
After the marketing manager left, Owen stood in the lobby and looked at the crowd downstairs. He didn’t walk to the office until the public relations manager appeared to calm the crowd.
As soon as he entered the office and sat down, Bruce called. "President, I heard from the marketing manager that there was a group of Miranda’s fans downstairs. Wasn’t the news blocked?" As soon as the call went through, Bruce said anxiously.
"I don’t know where this leak came from. I still have people investigating."
"President, then... then I’ll go back now. I’m really worried," Bruce said anxiously after hearing Owen’s words.
"No need. Stay there and take care of Miranda. Now that the news that she was injured here has spread, I’m afraid news of her hospitalization will be leaked as well," Owen said after a moment of thought.
"But... but CEO, can you do it all alone?" Bruce said again as he listened to Owen.
"As if I can’t solve the problem without you? Just take care of Miranda. I’ll let you come back if anything happens." Owen understood Bruce’s thoughts, but now was really not the time to let him come back, so he thought about it and said.
"Then... okay, but you have to tell me if anything happens." Bruce saw that Owen wouldn’t let him go back no matter what, so he had to give up.
"Yes, I understand. Take care of Miranda for the next two days and pay attention to the people around her," Owen instructed again.
"I understand, CEO. Are you worried that the people around Miranda leaked the news?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"I’m not sure yet. I just asked you to pay attention to it." Owen didn’t have a clue now. He could only investigate from multiple angles and find out who had leaked the news.
Moreover, he was still very worried that the person who leaked the news had other tricks up his sleeve. After all, the time when the news was leaked was so coincidental. It was difficult not to wonder who the person behind it was targeting.
"President, what should we do? Many of the customers of our pre-sale yesterday are asking for refunds today." The marketing manager had just finished dealing with the fans downstairs, but a new problem had appeared. He had no choice but to look for Owen again.
"I just thought of that too. A lot of fans must have bought it because of Miranda. Now that Miranda has been injured in our company, their trust in us must have decreased." Owen frowned slightly when he heard the marketing manager’s words.
"But the links for our pre-sales have already been taken off the shelves. If we let them handle these refund orders, the new products we previously ordered will definitely leave a lot of inventory backlog," the marketing manager said with a worried expression.
