The Substitute Ex-Wife: Seeking a Divorce
Chapter 214: Surveillance Video
"President, I found it," the marketing manager said excitedly as he pushed open the door and looked at Owen.
Owen glanced at the marketing manager and then at his door before rubbing his forehead helplessly.
"President, I’m... I’m sorry. I forgot to knock again. I’ll be careful next time." Before Owen could say anything, the marketing manager understood and quickly apologized.
"Okay, tell me quickly. What did you find?"
"Yes, the person from the Information Security Department just replied that the online comment about you and Miss Anita has been found. The server is in the south of the city. Someone has been sent to take a look. It’s an Internet cafe."
"Internet cafe?"
"Yes, it’s an Internet cafe. The person has already left, so we pulled the surveillance footage and asked everyone around the Internet cafe, but they all said that they had never seen this person."
"He must have specifically gone there to surf the Internet. I suspect that this person knew that we would investigate this matter, so he did it very carefully," the marketing manager said seriously.
"Bring me the surveillance video," Owen said with a frown as he listened to the marketing manager.
"President, look, this is the person in the video. We suspect that it’s him, but he’s wearing a wide hoodie and a hat. We can’t see his face at all."
Owen listened to the marketing manager and looked at the person in the video. The back view looked familiar, but he couldn’t remember who the person was. "Did you check where he went after he left the Internet cafe?"
"We’ve checked that too, but the Internet cafe owner said that only their shop has surveillance video. There are no surveillance cameras outside their Internet cafe, so we don’t know where he went."
Unexpectedly, the trail had gone cold. The marketing manager was worried.
"Yes, let the Information Security department continue to investigate. It’s impossible to not have any clues. And how’s the situation on the Internet? Did you go and tell those websites we often contact?"
"We’ve already given the CEOs a heads up. There are fewer discussions online now, but there are still some. We’ve tried our best to suppress them." The marketing manager looked at Owen.
"Yes, I understand. It’s been hard on you guys," Owen said with a nod.
"It’s nothing, but is Miss Anita okay?"
"Yes, I asked the driver to send her home. I’m a little worried about her myself."
"Yes, that’s good. We’re in the company, so why don’t you go back early today to accompany Miss Anita?"
"Okay, I understand. Go ahead," Owen said with a nod as he listened to the marketing manager.
"What’s wrong, Bruce?" As soon as the marketing manager left, Owen’s phone rang again.
"President, Miranda just said that she wants to hold a press conference. She wants to clarify something," Bruce said to Owen on the other end of the phone.
"A press conference? To clarify what?" Owen asked while listening to Bruce.
"Isn’t everyone online saying that Miranda was injured because of Miss Anita? But that’s definitely not the case, so she wanted to hold a press conference to clarify."
"If we don’t clarify it, it will definitely be even more difficult to deal with. Moreover, there are so many fans around our company, so it will affect everyone’s work."
Hearing Bruce’s words, Owen suddenly didn’t know what to say. He hadn’t expected Miranda to be willing to hold a press conference to clarify, and it was while she was injured from the filming.
"President, are you listening?" Seeing that Owen was silent, Bruce asked again.
"Yes, I’m listening. Bruce, give the phone to Miss Miranda."
"Okay," Bruce said and handed the phone to Miranda.
"President Owen, what’s wrong?" Miranda asked as she took the phone.
"Miss Miranda, Bruce just told me that you want to hold a press conference to clarify these things."
"Yes, Bruce made it very clear just now. I didn’t expect my injuries to have such a huge impact, and I didn’t expect it to involve you and Miss Anita. I’m really sorry."
"Miss Miranda, I’ll feel really guilty if I hear you say that."
"You were injured during the shoot at our company. We have an undeniable responsibility, but you didn’t say anything and you were willing to help us with the press conference. I’m really grateful." Owen thought about it for a moment and said to Miranda sincerely.
"President Owen, don’t say that. I was already very glad that you found me to be your spokesperson. Besides, it’s common to be injured during filming. I can’t say that it’s completely because of you."
"And Miss Anita also got dragged into this matter. This is what I feel most apologetic about. I’ll have to trouble you to help me apologize to Miss Anita. Don’t take those comments online seriously. I hope it doesn’t affect her mood."
