...

The guards outside King Elijah’s chamber made way the moment the healer appeared before them.

They didn’t even hesitate.

The moment the healer stepped into view, cloaked in her usual quiet presence, they moved aside, and let her in.

The doors opened.

She walked in, measured unhurried steps.

The doors shut behind her, and just like that, the world outside ceased to exist.

King Elijah stood near the far end of the chamber. His back was partially turned, but he already knew she was there.

The healer stopped several feet away, then she bowed, deep and respectful.

Only when the King gave a slight nod, did she rise. Silence settled between them for the first few seconds.

"What did you see?" King Elijah asked, finally breaking the silence.

The healer exhaled softly.

Her fingers rose to her brow, pressing lightly as if easing a quiet ache.

"Her fae blood is beginning to surface."

King Elijah stilled. For a moment, he said nothing. His expression changed to complete shock.

His eyes locked onto hers, sharp, and disbelieving. "Already?" There was no panic in his voice, but there was panic in his expression.

The healer gave a small nod.

"She is not just carrying it anymore," she said quietly. "It is responding to her. I fear she knew even before she stepped into the castle."

Silence stretched between them. Thicker this time, and more dangerous.

King Elijah’s jaw tightened slightly. A thousand thoughts moved behind his eyes.

"So," he said slowly, "what do we do now?"

The healer didn’t answer immediately.

Instead, she reached into the worn, sagging bag slung over her shoulder. Her fingers moved with familiarity.

She pulled out a small vial, dark and clouded. The liquid inside it shimmered faintly under the dim light.

She stepped forward, and placed it in his hand.

King Elijah took it without hesitation. His fingers wrapped around the glass.

"Tell the maid in charge of her meals," the healer said, her voice calm, and almost indifferent, "to double the drops of the other portion."

She paused, just long enough for the weight of that to settle. "Then add this to it." She instructed.

King Elijah’s gaze dropped to the vial. His thumb rolled it slightly between his fingers.

The liquid shifted.

"And this will...?" he asked.

The healer’s expression didn’t change. "It will suppress what should never exist." She cleared her throat. "If administered consistently, it will eliminate her fae blood before it becomes dominant."

King Elijah nodded once.

He turned, walking toward his bed. He placed the vial carefully on the table beside it. He rested his gaze upon it.

"If I may speak freely, Your Majesty." Her voice broke the silence now.

King Elijah didn’t turn. "Always."

The healer watched him carefully. "Why didn’t you send her away," she asked, "as we agreed?"

"I tried." His voice was calm and controlled. "She chose my sons over Damien."

The healer’s gaze darkened slightly.

"It will not be easy to kill her now," she said. "Not when she holds the title of Luna."

King Elijah turned his head slightly. "I know."

He wondered why he wasn’t informed of a fae blood existence until the day she killed the council member.

Titles mattered.

Positions mattered.

Killing a girl was simple.

Killing a Luna?

That was war.

Silence fell again, but it didn’t last long.

"Have your sons completed the mating ceremony?" the healer asked.

"No."

The answer came quickly, and certain.

The healer nodded slowly. "As expected." She adjusted the strap of her bag slightly.

"With that portion," she continued, gesturing lightly toward the vial, "they will feel no urgency to complete it."

King Elijah’s gaze sharpened slightly. "What do you mean?"

The healer’s lips curved just faintly. "Her wolf has already been weakened," she said. "By the Moon Goddess herself, after the curse."

The room shifted.

King Elijah’s expression didn’t change, but his eyes did. "And what does that imply?" he asked.

The healer held his gaze. "For a bond to be completed," she said, "both wolves must recognize each other."

She took a step closer. "And until her wolf awakens," she finished softly, "your sons’ wolves will never accept her fully to mark her."

The words sank deep.

King Elijah turned fully now. His gaze returned to the vial, then back to her. "So we keep her weak."

The healer inclined her head slightly. "Yes." then, she added. "I will perform additional spells on your sons tonight."

Her voice dropped into a whisper. "To ensure their instincts do not interfere."

King Elijah’s jaw tightened, but he didn’t object. This was bigger than them, or any mate bond and feelings.

"A tribrid must never live."

The words settled into the room like a final verdict.

The candle flames flickered.

The healer’s eyes moved toward them, narrowing for a brief moment. Too brief to be certain.

Her fingers curled slightly. Then she relaxed. "The last one."

King Elijah’s gaze snapped to her. "What did you say?"

The healer looked back at him. Her expression was smooth again. "Nothing, Your Majesty."

"See to it that everything is handled," he said.

His voice returned to its usual authority.

"It will be." She bowed again, then turned, and walked out.

The doors closed behind her, leaving the King alone with silence, and decisions. He reached for it again, held it up, and watched the strange liquid shift within.

Hopefully, the realm won’t be forced into chaos under his watch.
