They went at it for hours.
He learned to read her footwork, predicting exactly how she was going to attack. He learned how to shift his weight to avoid taking the heavy hits. He dodged her punches and deflected her super fast kicks, but he still caught a few stray blows because the difference in their skill and speed was still huge.
The sun finally set.
Claire dropped her fighting stance. She panted heavily and wiped the sweat dripping down her face.
And even though Adrian did not take half the beating he usually swallowed, Claire still hit her absolute physical limit way before he did.
Adrian nodded. He walked into his own tent and locked the flap. He then used dungeon link, spawned his ceramic tub, and soaked in the green medicine.
He dried off and walked right back out.
He then headed over to Celeste’s tent and saw that the herbalist was sitting on her cot, completely zoned out.
"Celeste." Adrian said.
She jumped and looked up at him.
"I need a specific potion." Adrian pulled up a stool. "Something that rapidly recovers mana and stamina. Can you make that?"
Celeste thought about it.
"I could do that." Celeste said. "But recovering mana requires magical herbs. Standard herbs will not work."
"Which herbs do you need?" Adrian asked.
Celeste grabbed a quill and scribbled down a list of rare roots, plants and magical flowers before giving it to him.
Adrian took the paper and he instantly remembered General Vekar’s offer.
"Actually." Adrian grinned as he tapped the paper. "Give me a full list. Write down every single useful potion you can brew. Both regular and magical variants."
Celeste blinked as she wondered why he’d need such a list all of a sudden, but she took the paper back and started writing.
She handed him a long list a few minutes later.
Adrian scanned the paper and picked out the ones that he liked the most.
"Write down the ingredients for these." Adrian pointed at a few specific items.
Celeste wrote down a second, much larger ingredient list. Adrian took it and walked straight to the commander’s tent.
General Vekar was studying a map.
"Can I get these ingredients as soon as possible?" Adrian dropped the paper on the table.
Vekar read the list and raised an eyebrow at the sheer volume of magical herbs.
"Fine." Vekar said. "I will talk to the herbalists in the city and send someone to deliver these materials to you."
Adrian nodded and left.
By late evening, a heavily armored soldier walked into Adrian’s camp and dropped a massive bag of herbs right in front of Claire.
"Give that to Celeste." Adrian told Claire. He went into his tent and did not bother checking on the brewing process.
Hours passed and the tent flap opened late at night.
Celeste walked in, carrying a wooden tray filled with glass vials.
"Go back to your tent." Adrian said as he took the tray. "Good work."
Celeste bowed and left.
Adrian set the tray on his cot. He linked to the dungeon and teleported every single vial into his dungeon storage for future mass production. Then, he inspected the new catalog of potions.
The first was the stamina and mana recovery potion. It was not a miraculous video game item that restored mana instantly. It just drastically accelerated the recovery rate while the user actively meditated.
The second was a standard Viagra potion which was one of the most potent variants that used the basic herbs.
The third was a magical Viagra potion. It was even stronger and required slightly rare magical materials because of its potency.
Then came the antidotes. There was a lesser antidote using regular herbs, which was highly effective against common venoms and cheap toxins.
She also brewed a magical antidote. This one neutralized high tier magical poisons. It was incredibly expensive to mass produce since these ingredients contained mana in them.
The next one was a painkiller. It dulled the body’s pain receptors by exactly fifty percent. It used regular herbs and would be vital for his soldiers.
The final vial was an adrenaline booster. It artificially flooded the body with adrenaline, which was perfect for a soldier risking his life.
Adrian grinned, closed the system screen and went to sleep.
The next morning, his unit marched out.
They did not take the direct route. Adrian led them behind a massive hill, circling completely around the active war zone. They hiked for a long time, entering a dense forest and passing through the thick trees before finally reaching a wide plain.
Adrian crouched behind a bush as he looked at the enemy camp.
Hundreds of military tents were spread out and three massive wooden warehouses stood right in the center of the camp. They looked identical to the supply warehouses back at Vaneira’s base.
A wide river flowed right between the edge of the forest and the enemy camp.
Adrian’s mission was to destroy the warehouses but he had no plans on doing that.
’Hmm... I’ll save a good amount of mana if I just steal all the food inside these warehouses. That is, if they have food like the general said.’ he thought as he stared at the warehouses.
"Set up camp here." Adrian whispered. "We can use the trees for cover and make sure that you’re extremely quiet."
He sent two scouts to watch the enemy soldiers while the rest began building makeshift sleeping camp. The scouts returned after a few days.
"My lord." The scout reported. "They use the river for everything. They drink from it, bathe in it, and cook their food with it."
"Perfect." Adrian smiled.
This was the best way to poison them.
He waited until the sun set and the sky turned dark. Then, he left his main army hidden in the woods. He gathered Claire and the five kids, before taking them exactly five kilometers upstream from the enemy camp.
He mentally selected the potion and duplicated it heavily, filling up a massive wooden barrel with it.
