Chapter 239: He’s a Beastman After All

The Tyrannosaur Beastman stood at the rear, his giant tail sweeping across the Beastman corpses on the ground. He sneered, "They’re out of energy. Attack together and kill the Fallen Beastman! End the calamities plaguing Norfell!"

Caden Albright’s amber pupils suddenly contracted. He finally saw the truth of this siege.

These Beastmen had united to kill him. In recent days, calamities had frequently struck Norfell. Gripped by fear, they had pinned all the blame on him, believing that killing the Fallen Beastman would appease the earth’s fury and restore peace to the land.

In the eyes of these Beastmen, he wasn’t a living being, but a sacrifice to vent their fear upon.

’Heh, how ridiculous.’

The Beast Tide was frenzied, surging forward in waves, and the three of them gradually became exhausted.

Caden Albright’s snow-white fur was matted with blood. His back had been pierced by a bone knife, and he knelt on his forelimbs, gasping for breath. He said to Lachlan and Loras, "It’s just a shame... that I won’t get to see Eva with you, alive."

Lachlan’s gray-brown eyes were bloodshot. At the last moment, he transformed into his human form and clutched the Jade Pearl in his hair.

Loras tightened his grip on the bone knife in his hand. Amidst a rich, dark fragrance, there was only silence and sorrow.

Amid the roar of the slaughter, the sharp claws never fell upon them.

Caden Albright snapped his head up, only to discover that the entire Blackwater Swamp was shrouded in a strange mist, obscuring everything.

His amber eyes flickered. He shifted into his human form, grabbed Lachlan and Loras by the arm, and used the cover of the mist to sprint out of Blackwater Swamp. ’If they could live, who would want to die?’

’The three of them had to stay alive to see Eva.’

"What’s going on?" Loras glanced back. The mist was so thick he couldn’t see a thing.

"Someone’s helping us," Caden Albright said curtly. He heard the Jade Pearl clinking beside him and his brow furrowed. He had to use all his strength just to drag Lachlan along. Though the mist obscured his vision, he knew something was wrong with Lachlan.

His wrist was scorching hot, as if it were being burned by fire.

"Lachlan?" Caden Albright called out in a low voice, but there was no reply.

Loras’s expression shifted slightly as he looked over. "What’s wrong with Lachlan?"

Caden Albright’s forehead was covered in blood, staining his long eyelashes red. He didn’t answer, just ran desperately toward the edge of the mist.

’Those Beastmen failed to kill me, but they won’t give up so easily. Once the mist clears, they’ll charge into Blackwater Swamp. We can’t go home anymore; our only option is to head for the sea. No matter what’s happened to Lachlan, as long as we find Eva, everything will be all right.’

After running for what felt like an eternity, his lungs burned, and the mist gradually began to dissipate.

With a sharp tug, Caden Albright stopped abruptly. He didn’t have time to check on Lachlan, instead stepping in front of his two companions. His gaze, sharp as a blade, fixed on the woods not far away, and his voice was ice-cold. "Come out!"

Loras’s brow twitched, a faint look of surprise crossing his pale face. He had clearly already seen them through the plants.

Before anyone could emerge, Lachlan collapsed to the ground with a THUD. Caden Albright’s expression changed, and he spun around to look.

Lachlan lay in the deep snow, his cheeks turning black. Blood stained the space between his fine brows, and his long body trembled uncontrollably.

Loras gazed at the dying Lachlan, his breath catching with sorrow. "It’s poison."

Caden Albright knelt on the ground, his eyes fixed on the bite mark on Lachlan’s leg. His eyelashes trembled as a wave of helplessness washed over him. The venom of a Dartfrog Beastman was virtually incurable on the Beastman Continent, and it killed quickly.

’Lachlan wasn’t going to make it. It would be nearly impossible for them to find Eva in the time he had left.’

"I can save him."

A strange male voice rang out, like a piece of driftwood thrown to a drowning man.

Caden Albright instantly masked his expression, stood up, and turned toward the source of the voice.

A strange male stood among the trees. He had a tall, slender figure. In the blizzard, he wore only thin white robes, and his ink-black hair cascaded down his back like a waterfall. There was no Star Pattern on his brow, only a single crimson cinnabar dot, even more dazzling than the one on Evangeline’s forehead.

His eyes and hair were a deep black, yet held not a trace of malice. He was like an Immortal who had fallen to the mortal world.

The cool moonlight and the bright snow could not rival the "Divinity" that radiated from him.

Caden Albright stared grimly at the mysterious male who had suddenly appeared, a sense of danger rising in his heart.

The thought made his expression grow even more tense.

’He knew that Eva’s males were no ordinary men. But whether it was the cold and deathly still Nix, or the violent and bloodthirsty The Everwake, none of them had ever made him feel this sense of danger, of something beyond his control.’

Loras knelt beside Lachlan and looked up. "How do we save him?"

The strange male watched them quietly, his voice as cool as striking jade in the silent night. "Take him beyond the Triangle Sea."

"Beyond the Triangle Sea?"

"Beyond the Triangle Sea."

Caden Albright and Loras spoke in unison, their expressions filled with shock.

The Beastman Continent was vast, and Norfell was like a place of exile, isolated by the Triangle Sea. The people on the other side couldn’t cross over, and neither could they. No one knew what lay on the other side of the Triangle Sea.

For Beastmen like them who lived in Norfell, the world beyond the Triangle Sea was more like a legend from ancient times.

The strange male nodded slightly. "The only way to save him is to go beyond the Triangle Sea."

Caden Albright’s eyes flickered with uncertainty. His hoarse voice came in ragged gasps. "In his condition, Lachlan won’t make it beyond the Triangle Sea. How can you guarantee he won’t die on the way?"

The male’s expression was impassive, his jet-black eyes holding what seemed to be an unfathomable vortex. "If I say I can save him, I will not let him die."

Caden Albright’s brow furrowed slightly. Clearly, this assurance was not enough to convince him.

Just then, the unconscious Lachlan suddenly vomited a mouthful of black blood. His breathing grew even fainter.

Caden Albright’s fists clenched. He snapped his gaze up to the strange male. "Fine! But I’m going with you!"

’Lachlan had ended up like this helping him. No matter what, he couldn’t give up on him. Just as he had said amidst the mountain of corpses and the sea of blood, they were all males chosen by Eva. They were comrades. They should never abandon one another.’

Hearing this, the strange male paused for a moment but still nodded.

Caden Albright was an extremely decisive person. He bent down, hoisted Lachlan onto his back, and turned to Loras, speaking rapidly, "Lachlan and I will go beyond the Triangle Sea. You go find Eva and tell her everything that happened, exactly as it did."

’In truth, the most convenient and safest option would be to have this strange male take them to find Eva. That would both save Lachlan’s life and avoid the journey beyond the Triangle Sea. But he was no fool. This man had appeared at such a critical moment, released the mist to save them, and was now saying all this... he obviously had his own agenda.’

’He wouldn’t take them to Eva; he knew that better than anyone.’

Loras grabbed Caden Albright’s arm and looked at the strange male, the muscles in his cheeks tight. "If my senses weren’t mistaken just now, you’re the Snow Ferret that’s been following Evangeline. So, what exactly are you planning?"

At these words, Caden Albright’s pupils shrank. He looked at the strange male with a complicated expression.

’The Snow Ferret?’

’He’s actually the Snow Ferret Eva brought out of The Venom Pit?’

’So he really is a Beastman.’
