The Villainess Winning Back Her Beast Husbands
Chapter 296: How Ironic?
Elias Moretti narrowed his eyes, sensing the change in Riley Atwood’s gaze.
Just as he was about to speak, a thunderous sound of galloping suddenly erupted in the distance, and the ground began to tremble violently.
Elias Moretti’s eyes sharpened, a flicker of vigilance appearing in their crimson depths. Before he could react, a hand reached out and pulled him back. Evangeline’s calm voice followed, "Stay behind me."
She quickly released her grip and moved to the front, her gaze fixed on the clouds of dust kicked up by thundering hooves in the distance.
Elias Moretti glanced down at the spot Evangeline had just grabbed. His pupils contracted, and his Adam’s apple bobbed.
He suddenly felt that the spot was burning hot.
Not far away, Gable stood among the crowd, watching the display and shaking his head. ’It really was a mistake to follow Evangeline here,’ he thought to himself. ’But still, she’s not completely cold and heartless. At least she knows to protect Elias Moretti.’
Gable could only console himself with that thought. After all, now that they were on the New Continent, Evangeline was the only one they could rely on.
’On the surface, the two at the Nine-star Extreme Realm are the most powerful among us,’ Gable mused. ’But in reality, the strongest is Evangeline. This female... she’s a Witch, just like me, yet everything she’s capable of is far beyond the reach of any ordinary Witch.’
’If it didn’t seem so impossible, I would almost think Evangeline was The Beast God reborn in this world.’
’If only Evangeline would take a liking to Elias Moretti and be willing to form a Contract with him, I wouldn’t have so many worries.’
Farther back, the Fallen Beastmen were more numerous. They had all concealed the black Star Patterns on their foreheads. Being new arrivals, none of them knew how the New Continent would treat Fallen Beastmen, so they had devised this method to avoid trouble.
Although Evangeline, for her part, didn’t seem to care.
"The Ravening Wolves," Kat said, his expression strange, "Their attitude seems a little..."
The Ravening Wolves blinked his one eye and said in a low voice, "No matter what, we just have to follow My Lady Priestess."
’I’ve made up my mind,’ he resolved. ’No matter what happens, I will follow My Lady Priestess from now on! Even if she tries to drive me away, I won’t leave! Even without a contract, I will never betray the witch!’
Kat saw the look on The Ravening Wolves’ face, pressed his lips together, and nodded silently.
’Me too!’ he thought. ’If it weren’t for My Lady Priestess, my father wouldn’t have survived. As long as My Lady Priestess needs me, I will always be by her side. I’ll help her manage these scattered Fallen Beastmen so she doesn’t have to waste her energy on them!’
’Besides, I never thought I’d be able to leave Thorncliff, let alone that I’d make it beyond the legendary Triangle Sea!’
’I know that by following My Lady Priestess, I can become the fiercest warrior on the Beastman Continent!’
Meanwhile, Evangeline stood at the forefront. Loras handed Bunny to Thorne before moving to stand at her side with Drake.
Although Thorne wasn’t happy about it, he knew his strength was no match for those two. Whether it was for intimidation or protection, having them by her side was a much safer bet than having him.
The desire to become stronger burned even more fiercely within him.
Riley Atwood heard the commotion behind him and broke into a wide grin, turning and taking a few steps in that direction.
As the rolling clouds of dust began to settle, the scene ahead suddenly came into sharp focus.
It was a massive legion of Wild Beasts. They were powerfully built and robust, standing a towering four to five meters tall. They had sharp tusks, and fetid mist plumed from their nostrils. With every stomp of their hooves, the sandy ground buckled and caved in.
Loras and the others watched the Wild Beast legion, their expressions growing grim. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
’These Wild Beasts are all at the Six-star Pattern!’ he realized. ’That’s a whole Level higher than the Beastmen who were working at the docks!’
’A Wild Beast of this strength could carve out its own territory back in Norfell. Normally, just spotting one would be an incredible event. But here on the New Continent, not only are there so many of them, but they’ve all been tamed?’
Evangeline, too, was sizing up these Wild Beast mounts with keen interest.
’I never saw Wild Beasts like this in Norfell,’ she mused. ’They must be a local ’specialty’ of the Triangle Sea region.’
But even more striking were the Beastman Warriors astride the backs of these Wild Beasts.
They wielded weapons of an unknown material and were clad in Battle Armor. Each one had a sharp gaze and carried an aura of bloodlust. One look was enough to tell they were a "proper army," seasoned by war and familiar with death.
Evangeline found this increasingly interesting. ’Seeing a new civilization on the Beastman Continent... it’s a peculiar feeling.’
’They’ve already learned to use iron and craft armor. This city-state civilization is far more advanced than I imagined.’
Watching these well-equipped city-state Beastmen, the males in her group suddenly tensed up.
The one who posed the greatest sense of threat was a middle-aged Beastman riding on the back of a Wild Beast with an Eight-Star Pattern.
He was short and gaunt, with an unremarkable appearance, but the aura roiling around him was immensely powerful and carried an oppressive weight. And on his forehead, there was no Star Pattern.
Evangeline sized up the Commander of this city-state. She could sense it—his power surpassed the Nine-star Extreme Realm.
’Norfell shackled the power of Beastmen, preventing them from breaking through the nine-star pattern. But that shackle clearly isn’t an issue on the New Continent. We Norfell Beastmen, arriving here... we really are just ’low-level barbarians’.’
As Evangeline and her group were sizing them up, Commander Aiden Atwood was also assessing these sudden visitors.
With a single glance, Aiden Atwood could tell they were no ordinary group.
’A flying ship...’ he mused. ’As far as I know, not a single Beastman City-state has the ability to build one. What’s more, neither the female leader nor the males surrounding her are ordinary people.’
Riley Atwood leaned in close to Aiden Atwood and whispered something to him.
After a moment, Aiden Atwood dismounted from his Wild Beast and slowly walked forward, stopping three meters in front of Evangeline.
He placed an arm across his chest and slowly performed a polite salute. "And which City-state might you all be from?"
Evangeline’s gaze was placid, her tone even. "From the other side of the Triangle Sea."
As her words fell, Riley Atwood and the surrounding Beastmen of the New Continent all gasped. They instinctively glanced toward the Triangle Sea. The waves were calm, and even the fierce gales had, at some point, ceased.
Riley Atwood shrieked, "The winds and waves of the sea have calmed! They’re the Savage Beastmen from Norfell!!"
The term "Savage Beastman" made The Everwake and the others frown in discomfort.
Although they didn’t know what it meant, the tone of this New Continent Beastman was clearly laced with alarm, dislike, contempt, and ridicule. It was definitely not a complimentary title.
Aiden Atwood’s expression changed as well. He stared at Evangeline in shock. "You came from beyond the Triangle Sea?!"
Evangeline suddenly gave a light chuckle. To the Beastmen of Norfell, this place was beyond the Triangle Sea. But to the Beastmen of the New Continent, Norfell was also beyond the Triangle Sea, and any Beastman from there was just an ignorant Savage Beastman.
How ironic.
