Chapter 114: Chapter 114: The Large Golden Bracelet Was Stolen

Renee Jennings whispered, "I heard that Poodle warning its owner that the gold bracelet in her bag was stolen."

Hearing this, Henry Stark and the others all looked toward the Poodle’s table.

The Poodle was sitting on the same stool as a young woman, barking fiercely at the woman on the adjacent stool.

Hearing the Poodle’s barks, the young woman turned and stroked its fluffy head. "What’s wrong, Husky? Are you just bored?"

Husky met his owner’s gaze and barked urgently, "Shannon, I’m not bored! The big gold bracelet in your bag has been stolen!"

’Shannon said she was buying that big gold bracelet for her mom, and that she spent tens of thousands on it!’

"There, there." Shannon continued to soothe Husky. "Just wait a little longer, and I’ll take you out to play."

"It’s not that I want to play! The big gold bracelet you bought for Grandma has been stolen!" Husky barked, then turned his head to look at the blonde woman sitting next to Shannon.

Noticing Husky’s gaze, the blonde woman glared at him and cursed internally, ’Damn dog, what are you looking at!’

Shannon looked apologetically at her friends. "Sorry, Husky seems a little upset. You all go ahead and eat, I’m going to take him for a little walk."

"Of course, it’s no problem." The blonde woman smiled understandingly. "Husky is so lucky to have an owner as good as you."

Shannon smiled. "Once you get a fur baby of your own, you’ll probably be an even better owner than I am."

With that, she stood up from her seat, holding Husky.

Renee Jennings and her group discreetly watched her leave.

Sawyer whispered, "Shouldn’t we go tell that woman?"

Kyle Morgan said with a serious expression, "Absolutely."

Henry Stark said calmly, "Renee Jennings and Sawyer, go explain the situation to that woman. Kai and I will find the restaurant manager and check the security footage. You two, keep an eye on her."

"Right." After Renee Jennings and Sawyer agreed, they immediately got up and headed for the restaurant’s exit.

Shannon put Husky down on the ground, leash in hand, and smiled. "Was it too stuffy in the restaurant? Come on, let’s go for a walk."

But Husky didn’t move. He tilted his head up to stare at her, barking nonstop. "Shannon, it was Lynn’s friend—the one with the super blonde hair! She stole the big gold bracelet from inside your bag!"

"Why are you still barking?" Shannon frowned, a troubled expression on her face. "What’s going on? Are you not feeling well?"

"No, no!" Husky was frantic, placing his two little front paws on Shannon’s leg. "Go back and find your big gold bracelet."

With that said, he dropped his front paws back to the ground and started toward the restaurant.

Shannon watched this, utterly confused. "But I thought you didn’t want to be in there?"

"Excuse me, are you Shannon?"

A gentle voice suddenly spoke up.

Shannon turned to look, surprised. "You are... Do I know you?"

"No, we don’t," Renee Jennings explained. "We just happened to be eating at the same barbecue restaurant."

Shannon nodded, looking puzzled. "Then how do you know my name? Did you hear my friends call me?"

"No," said Renee Jennings. "I heard Husky say it."

"Huh?" Shannon froze for a few seconds, then burst out laughing. "Wow, you’re quite the comedian."

Of course, she didn’t believe for a second that Renee Jennings could understand Husky.

"I’m serious," Renee Jennings said slowly. "The reason Husky was so agitated in the restaurant just now is that he saw that the big gold bracelet in your bag had been stolen."

Husky, who had been biting his leash and trying to pull his owner back toward the restaurant, froze.

What?

’This girl can understand me?’

Shannon stared at Renee Jennings and frowned suspiciously. "How do you know I have a gold bracelet in my bag?"

Renee Jennings glanced down at the stunned Husky. "He told me."

"Are you kidding me?" Shannon found this utterly unbelievable and refused to accept it. "How can a person understand what a dog is saying?"

Renee Jennings didn’t offer much of an explanation, only saying calmly, "If you don’t believe me, you can check if the gold bracelet is still in your bag."

Husky barked excitedly, "Shannon, believe her! Everything she’s saying is true! She’s here to help you!"

With that, Husky stood up on his hind legs and brought his front paws together in a gesture of thanks toward Renee Jennings. "Thank you, you’re a good person!"

Seeing her fur baby’s behavior, Shannon’s heart clenched for some reason.

She looked at Renee Jennings again. The young woman had stunning features, radiant and lovely even without a stitch of makeup.

Her expression was earnest, without the slightest hint of a joke.

Shannon hesitated, but in the end, she took Husky and went back into the barbecue restaurant.

Renee Jennings and Sawyer followed them inside.

"You’re back," Lynn said, looking at Husky. Seeing that he wasn’t as agitated as before, she smiled and asked, "Did Husky feel better after his walk?"

The blonde woman pursed her lips. "Pets nowadays are more high-maintenance than kids. I could never own a pet in my entire life."

Shannon heard them, but she was in no mood to reply. Instead, she grabbed the bag she’d left on her seat and began to rummage through it.

When the blonde woman saw this, her brow furrowed slightly and her eyes flickered. "I’m going to use the restroom," she announced.

She had barely lifted herself from the seat and wasn’t even fully standing when a sudden weight pressed down on her shoulder.

A fair-skinned hand pressed her back down into the seat.

The blonde woman turned her head and was met with a beautiful, unfamiliar face. Annoyance flashed in her eyes. "What do you think you’re doing? Do I know you?"

"Going to the restroom?" Renee Jennings asked with a smile. "You might have to wait a moment."

The blonde woman snapped, "Since when do I need your permission to go to the restroom?"

Lynn looked at Renee Jennings, confused. "Is there a problem?"

"I’m fine." Renee Jennings’ gaze fell on Shannon, who was still frantically searching her bag. "But she’s not."

Seeing this, Lynn asked Shannon, "Do you know her?"

Shannon looked frantic. She had already searched through her bag twice and couldn’t find the birthday present she’d bought for her mother.

She had saved for a long time to afford this big gold bracelet, and now that she couldn’t find it, she was beside herself with worry.

Shannon looked up at Lynn, her voice laced with panic. "The gold bracelet I bought for my mom is gone."

Hearing this, Lynn’s expression changed, her face clouding with worry. "How could that be? Wasn’t it there just a minute ago?"

"I don’t know." Shannon was so frantic the rims of her eyes were turning red. "What do I do now? It cost sixty thousand!"

Then, she suddenly thought of Renee Jennings.

Shannon whipped her head around to look at her, her face a mask of desperation. "Can you ask Husky? Can you ask him if he saw who took my gold bracelet?"

Just moments ago, she’d found Renee Jennings’s words ridiculous, but now she was pinning all her hopes on her.

Pip, the blonde woman, heard Shannon’s words. Her expression flickered through several changes before she finally spoke up. "Shannon, has the panic addled your brain?"
