The Whole Internet is Shipping Me with My Ex-Boyfriend
Chapter 554 - 3: Suisui Only Acknowledges Chi Yu, Leaving Everyone Enviously Awestruck
Lin Shi had one foot stuck in the field and the other on the ridge, howling his head off, and the scene was so funny he almost laughed himself out of breath.
Even the cameraman was laughing.
Chi Yu looked at Lin Shi the way you look at an idiot. "You done howling?"
Lin Shi finally realized how embarrassing this was for him, noticed his leg could move and the mud under his foot was actually very shallow, and muttered, "...Yeah, I’m done."
Then, trying to salvage a bit of dignity, he explained, "I was just trying to scare everyone on purpose."
Sheng Yi let out an "oh" with the ending drawn out for a very, very long time, and Lin Shi wanted nothing more than to crawl into the field and bury himself.
God, please, let him move to another planet.
"Look, there really is a little girl. She’s so tiny. She’s squatting there in a teeny little ball, I didn’t even see her at first."
The one speaking was Fu Yao. After she finished, she walked over toward Sheng Yi.
Lin Xijiang followed the direction Fu Yao had pointed in and looked over.
He also saw the little lump squatting next to Sheng Yi.
She was very small.
And she was covered in mud.
If you didn’t look closely, you really wouldn’t notice there was a kid squatting beside Sheng Yi.
Lin Xijiang had always liked children, so now he also started walking over there.
"Sheng Yi, whose kid is this?"
Fu Yao, who had come over, directly squatted down beside Suisui. Her eyes were fixed on the soft, glutinous little dumpling, and even though the little dumpling had turned into a little mud-splattered kitten, it didn’t affect her cuteness one bit.
Sheng Yi hadn’t expected everyone to come over, and the cameraman was even pointing the lens at Suisui for a close-up. It was too late to stop them now, and even if she told them not to shoot, they probably wouldn’t listen. By then Yuanyuan would just put out a word on her end and the editing problem would be solved in one go.
She answered Fu Yao’s question: "She’s my best friend’s kid."
"Your best friend’s here too?"
Fu Yao was very surprised and asked, "Did your best friend only get here today?"
The words "my best friend" already meant Sheng Yi’s bestie was an outsider to the industry. If she were in the circle, Sheng Yi would have just said her name. The reason Fu Yao kept asking instead of suddenly remembering something was because what happened at that award ceremony years ago was too long ago, so her mind didn’t jump to that President Gu.
Sheng Yi didn’t go into who exactly her best friend was, she just answered what Fu Yao had asked a moment ago: "Yeah, she came at noon today. This is her daughter Suisui; I’m Suisui’s godmother."
"So cute, so well-behaved." The more Fu Yao looked, the more she liked her. She even reached out to touch Suisui’s hair. "You must have insane genes to give birth to such an incredibly beautiful kid. I’m so jealous I feel like I should hurry up and have one myself."
Sheng Yi followed along with Fu Yao’s words and teased, "Once we finish recording today’s episode and go back, you can get started on that."
Fu Yao shoved at Sheng Yi’s shoulder. Even though her smile was a bit bashful, her expression was extremely animated.
The fact that Fu Yao had a boyfriend wasn’t a secret in the industry; it just hadn’t been made public.
Because Fu Yao’s boyfriend was a certain very famous producer in the business.
Fu Yao was still one of the current top leading ladies, standing firm side by side with Sheng Yi. They had no plans to go public with the relationship for now.
And she had to admit, after hearing Sheng Yi tease her just now, in those few seconds Fu Yao really did have a bit of a baby fever moment. After all, she was about to hit thirty. If she waited any longer, she’d be an older mother.
Older mothers faced more risks, and once your body wasn’t young anymore, it was a lot harder to bounce back after having a baby.
Her schedule was packed right now; finding time to have a baby really wouldn’t be easy. Besides, once she had a baby she would have to get married, which meant giving up her "leading lady" status. It was a big trade-off.
All that from one joke out of Sheng Yi’s mouth, and Fu Yao’s mind went a mile a minute.
She quickly snapped back to reality, noticed how dirty the kid in front of her was, and finally asked, "What happened just now? How come this little girl is all dirty like this?"
Sheng Yi pointed at herself. "My fault, I wasn’t watching the little one properly."
"Pfft—" Fu Yao couldn’t hold back a laugh. "No wonder we kept calling you and you just wouldn’t come. Turns out you really couldn’t get away."
Sheng Yi drooped in defeat. "Ugh!"
Fu Yao asked, "Your name is Suisui?"
Suisui shook her head.
She just looked curiously at Fu Yao, her grape-like eyes big and round.
Fu Yao looked at Sheng Yi, and Sheng Yi said, "Suisui is her nickname."
Suisui propped her cheeks up with both hands. "My name is Chi Yao."
"Chi Yao?" Fu Yao didn’t know which characters those were.
In crisp, standard Mandarin, Sheng Yi explained, "It’s Chi Yao—Chi as in Chi Yu, and Yao as in ’yao’ from ’yaotiao shunü’ (slender, graceful lady)."
"Oh, Chi Yao, huh. Chi as in Chi Yu, and ’yao’ as in graceful... Wait a second..." As she repeated it, Fu Yao suddenly froze. "Chi as in Chi Yu?"
