The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day
Chapter 529 - 400: Sowing Seeds (Part 2)
Anyway, everything has been resolved perfectly, and I’ve even harvested a wave of faith points, so there’s no need to let Dad worry about it anymore.
Lyle Sutton vaguely knew a bit about Rhys Blackwood’s background. He glanced at him thoughtfully and nodded, "Chief of the Winged Serpents? Good, good—Rhys, you’ve done well for yourself."
He patted Rhys on the shoulder, full of gratification, not really prying into the details.
No matter how accomplished Rhys might be, he’s still Luna’s beast husband; what does it matter what tribe’s chief he is.
Isn’t Soren Phoenix also Clan Leader Fawkes? And Kian Sterling is the Beast King of Beast King City, too.
And Mael Valerius is even the Young Master of the Dragon Clan.
Lyle Sutton just felt that his son-in-laws were all something remarkable, making him proud and joyful in his heart.
Zeke Veridian and Malachi Arcanus might not have any special identities, but they are also outstanding beastmen. Given time, they might make a name for themselves yet.
The group didn’t linger at the city gate, and instead, chatting and laughing, they headed into the tribe.
Jago spotted Luna Sutton and the others returning from a distance and hurriedly scampered over, "Master, you’re finally back!"
He felt that ever since Master learned sword flight, she needed him less and less.
Apart from doing odd chores, he was pretty much useless now.
Even Caelan Phoenix and Lian Phoenix, those two old fellows, had become mere decorations.
The main thing was that Master and her beast husbands were getting stronger and stronger, and could handle anything themselves.
Besides, they didn’t even live together with Master and the others anymore.
Jago was terrified that if he didn’t perform well, Master would just forget about him.
So, recently, he and those two old fellows, Caelan Phoenix and Lian Phoenix, worked with the tribe’s beastmen every day, clearing new fields and organizing waterways, busy from dawn until dusk. He actually worked himself half-thin.
Luna Sutton looked at the way Jago had slimmed down and immediately burst out laughing. "What, did you go mining? Why’d you lose so much weight?"
Jago wagged his tail pitifully, "Since Master isn’t home, I’ve got to help take care of the tribe. I’ve kept an eye on all the newly opened fields, making sure there’s not a single stone left behind!"
Soren Phoenix raised his brows at that, "Oh? In that case, we’d better see how well you all did."
Everyone came to the newly reclaimed farmlands outside the city, where well-aligned rows of fields stretched as far as the eye could see, with irrigation canals criss-crossing in every direction.
Lyle Sutton didn’t really understand any of this. He wandered between the city wall and the fields every day, only knowing that the land had been turned, the canals dug, and the rice soaked and sprouting. The rest was a mystery to him.
"Luna, take a look at how these fields turned out. If they’re not good, have the tribe lads redo them."
Luna Sutton swept her gaze over the fields with a somewhat surprised expression.
The land wasn’t just level; the soil was pounded very fine, clearly prepared with care.
The canals were also well-dug, arranged neatly for easy irrigation.
She nodded, praising without hesitation, "Very good, these fields are excellent. But if you want to sow seeds, you’ll need to make the soil even more moist and delicate."
"Don’t worry, Master. Leave irrigation to me—I promise I’ll get it done!"
Jago was the first to pat his chest in assurance.
She shot him a smile and said nothing more, leading everyone back home.
......
It only took two days for Jago and a few beastmen from the tribe to irrigate all the fields. Soaked by the water, the soil became moist and fine.
Luna Sutton checked them over and thought it all looked good—the perfect time for sowing seeds.
She didn’t delay. Taking advantage of the good weather, she immediately gathered the tribe’s beastmen to start planting.
This rice was easy to sow; just scatter the seeds evenly over the soil and cover them with a light layer of earth.
Luna Sutton taught the tribe’s beastmen how to plant, hand over hand—her slender fingers flying over the soil, demonstrating how to scatter the seeds evenly.
Sunlight shone on her profile, setting even her hair aglow with a golden halo.
The cubs, imitating the adults, crouched at the edge of the paddy, tossing rice seeds into the field with their little claws.
Rhys Blackwood’s eight little snake cubs didn’t have claws, so they changed into human form.
They’d already learned to walk, so they sat properly on the paddy ridge, mimicking the adults and scattering seeds—almost ending up burying themselves in the field.
Luna Sutton’s lips twitched and she quickly asked Rhys to pull these little ones aside.
The sowing process was tiring, but everyone was full of energy—even the usually lazy beastmen became hardworking.
Looking out at the seemingly endless fields, she felt happy and full of hope inside.
As long as this rice grew well, The Wolf Tribe wouldn’t have to worry about food this winter.
Besides rice, sweet potatoes and corn had been planted as well.
The spring wind brushed over the newly turned earth, carrying a moist scent.
Luna Sutton stood on the field ridge, watching the busy Jago, that silly leopard, working diligently at turning the soil.
Her heart stirred and she walked over, suddenly saying, "Jago, do you want to visit The Leopard Tribe?"
The Leopard Tribe is developing well now—every household has started building brick houses, and life is much better than before.
Jago has family there, too. He was originally forcefully contracted by me. Now, staying by my side isn’t really that useful anymore. Might as well set him free.
Always being a servant, it’s hard to find a partner that way.
Jago paused in his digging, then jerked his head up, eyes full of shock and disbelief, "Master, you... you mean, you’d let me go back to The Leopard Tribe?"
Luna Sutton looked complicated and nodded. "Yes, if you want to go back, I can release our contract."
Jago stared at her blankly, as if he hadn’t processed it yet.
After a long moment, he suddenly came back to his senses and waved his paws frantically, "No, no, no! I don’t want to go back—I want to stay with Master!"
He was so afraid Luna Sutton would misunderstand that he turned red with anxiety. "Master, please don’t chase me away. I don’t want to go back to The Leopard Tribe. I just want to be with you. I’ll do whatever you need, just don’t drive me away."
After all, he’d witnessed Master’s miracles with his own eyes—if he stuck with her, maybe someday he’d learn cultivation too! What’s the point of going back to the tribe to be an ordinary leopard beast?
