Chapter 1223: Proud Ember Tribe’s Excitement

"This... what’s going on?"

While Divine Lord Vaelith busily defended a significant area, holding the Undying Fiends at bay, a colossal wave of violent water suddenly swept over, blowing the Undying Fiends several dozen kilometers away.

Even if the Undying Fiends wanted to advance, they were helplessly churned and washed further away by the surging tides, which carried unstoppable momentum.

As a result, the pressure on Divine Lord Vaelith was alleviated in an instant.

Divine Emperor!

Divine Lord Vaelith quickly realized that a mighty Divine Emperor Powerhouse had delivered timely divine assistance, helping him and his shelter out in this moment of life or death.

Although he had no idea where this Divine Emperor Powerhouse came from, he felt bottomless gratitude, and his emotions were quite indescribable in that moment, which wasn’t surprising.

After all, one moment, he was drowning in the depths of despair, and the next, he was easily yanked out.

The mighty of a Divine Emperor Powerhouse could truly overturn the shelter’s grim fate.

Even if such a Divine Emperor Powerhouse ultimately failed to vanquish the Undying Fiends, they would still be more than capable of retreating without abandoning anyone.

"Thank you for your timely aid, Your Excellency! Your divine assistance arrived like a sudden raging storm in drought season!"

Although Divine Lord Vaelith was quick to express his gratitude, his eyes still darted around the battlefield, having yet to locate their powerful savior.

Nevertheless, on such a vast battlefield in the void, full of chaos and destruction, even with the addition of the raging tides, Seraphina’s small figure wasn’t conspicuous and easy to locate right away.

However, something else was.

"L-Lord Vaelith! Take a look at that colossal Undying Fiend!"

Hearing a Divine Knight’s sudden, surprised cry, Divine Lord Vaelith quickly turned his attention to the large gathering of fleshly masses, which posed the most significant threat.

At that moment, its advancement had suddenly halted, and large pieces of its large fleshly mass were also quickly disappearing one by one without re-emerging.

Surprises soon turned into pleasant shock.

How was that possible!?

Although Divine Lord Vaelith and the other survivors didn’t know where the missing fleshly mass went, they could easily see the threat posed by the Undying Fiends reducing.

Originally, the slightest presence of an Undying Fiend in an area would have posed a significant threat. Yet, despite their continued presence currently, they no longer felt any danger.

The situation appeared to be completely under control with the emergence of these helpers.

Of course, this wasn’t the reason why Divine Lord Vaelith and the other survivors sensed the absence of danger. It was because the Undying Fiends’ killing intent of hostility was no longer directed at them.

The Undying Fiends seemed to have been deeply threatened by Vaan’s display of power. Thus, they focused all their hostility and killing intent on him, making him their sole target.

The entire fleet of Undying Fiends quickly congregated at his location.

Seeing this, Vaan didn’t continue to suppress the singular large fleshly mass with his Absolute Isolation, restoring its freedom of movement. The skill was extremely effective for surprises, but wasn’t worthwhile for prolonged use.

The Soul Power consumption was too much over time.

More importantly, he had already attracted the Undying Fiends’ full aggression onto himself and was quickly surrounded in no time, prompting him to adopt a defensive tactic.

Even though the Undying Fiends had been reduced to mere fleshly masses, they seemed particularly excited, as if they couldn’t wait to devour him and make him one of them. Unfortunately, they couldn’t close the gap no matter how hard they tried.

An absolute zone of death seemed to separate them, preventing them from reaching him.

The moment they forced their way into this absolute zone of death, their entire being would disappear into nothingness. Despite the precedents taking place, the remaining Undying Fiends did not halt their charge.

They crazily rushed toward their certain doom, only to be erased from existence.

As time passed, the Undying Fiends’ numbers dwindled until not a single one remained, allowing silence and peace to return to the dark void.

"This... This...!"

Divine Lord Vaelith and the other survivors watched on, eyes widened in shock and disbelief. The moment they witnessed the Undying Fiends rushing into oblivion, they couldn’t pull their gaze away from start to end.

Did the Undying Fiends truly die? Or were they banished to another void region?

However, given the unnaturally powerful Spatial Laws within the Umbral Edge, it seemed impossible for anyone to manipulate space to the extent of banishing the Undying Fiends beyond their perceptive range.

However, killing the Undying Fiends until not even a speck of their existence was also an equally incredulous feat.

After all, if the Undying Fiends were so easy to kill, then they wouldn’t be called Undying Fiends. They were truly unkillable—at least, until now.

Either way, it seemed like only a True Divinity or Soul Master could pull off these feats.

Did that mean their savior was either a True Divinity or a Soul Master?

When Divine Lord Vaelith and the other survivors thought of these two possibilities, they couldn’t help but feel extremely excited.

The emergence of such venerable beings might be able to offer them a chance to finally escape the nightmare known as the Umbral Edge. If they had the option to leave, none of them would choose to stay.

"Thank you for saving our Proud Ember Tribe, Your Excellencies!"

Divine Lord Vaelith made a humble gesture with utmost respect and gratitude as Vaan and Seraphina approached, followed by Empyrean Oceanheart further back in the distance.

Nevertheless, the survivors had yet to detect Empyrean Oceanheart’s presence. Thus, they focused on Vaan and Seraphina. After their gaze briefly paused on Seraphina’s beautiful figure, they immediately focused on Vaan with a brighter glint in their eyes.

The absence of the True Divinity Aura from Vaan’s body suggested that he was likely a Soul Master.

A Soul Master!

This profession was even rarer than a True Divinity! Even if this Soul Master wasn’t as powerful as a True Divinity, the miracles he could perform definitely surpassed one!

In fact, none of the Proud Ember Tribe Survivors had even encountered a Soul Master before. Still, they have heard so much about Soul Masters.

Thus, after seeing how effortlessly Vaan eradicated the Undying Fiends without so much as lifting a finger, they were quick to believe that he was one of those legendary Soul Masters.

One thought to conquer heaven and earth.

No physical actions needed.

That was a Soul Master, far more powerful than ordinary Soul Cultivators. Even other types of Cultivators couldn’t compare! They were the most supreme!

"We haven’t been in the Umbral Edge for long and have a lot of questions for you. I hope you can answer them."

Empyrean Oceanheart’s casual voice drifted over, quickly catching the Proud Ember Tribe Survivors’ attention. While her approached seemed unhurried, her movement and voice covered large distances, seemingly warping space itself.

A True Divinity!

Oh my god!

The Proud Ember Tribe Survivors were momentarily startled before their eyes beamed with greater excitement.

They didn’t expect a Soul Master and True Divinity to arrive in their moment of crisis. This was double the surprise and the happiness. With this kind of incredible combination, their chances of escaping the accursed lands of the Umbral Edge seemed more attainable.

"Of course, Your Divinity. Anything you want to know, I will answer to the best of my ability, without withholding any information. It’s the least I can do for our benefactors," Divine Lord Vaelith said seriously and sincerely. "Please give me a moment."

After quickly issuing instructions to the other survivors to clean up the battlefield, tend to their wounded, and tally up their casualties. Afterward, he made himself readily available before Vaan’s group.

"What would Your Divinity like to know?" Divine Lord Vaelith humbly inquired.

"Those advanced-staged Corrupted Beings... Does your Proud Ember Tribe encounter them often?"

Divine Lord Vaelith’s expression stiffened before forcing a smile.

"Your Divinity, if our Proud Ember Tribe had encountered those Undying Fiends often, there would not have been a Proud Ember Tribe today. If not for your timely arrival, we would have been wiped out this time."

"Sigh..."

Divine Lord Vaelith sighed emotional as he thought about the unimaginable consequences if Vaan’s group had not shown up as they did.

"In the past, we did encounter the Undying Fiends occasionally. Each time, our shelters would face near-extinction. Only a select few of us could escape alive each time."

"However, ever since we arrived in this particular region, we have not encountered an attack from the Undying Fiends for the past three hundred years. This gave us a chance to settle down and flourish until now."

"I am not sure why our Proud Ember Tribe had suddenly caught the attention of the Undying Fiends’ patrol this time."

Divine Lord Vaelith felt sad about this, realizing that the Proud Ember Tribe would have to return to a nomadic life as they searched for a new safe haven to settle.
