Third Person POV

Aretuza.

...

...

’I don’t like how they’re crowding us,’ Ciri didn’t fail to declare telepathically, as Madara had just arrived. Everyone was surrounding them, while they drank their goblets and continued a small conversation with Yennefer and Geralt.

Philippa stood nearby, just waiting for an opening to enter the conversation. Triss remained at the side, keeping a firm posture, while Keira watched Madara with attentive eyes. Studying him.

Around the group, people began to gather. They were waiting for the conversation to end to approach. At first, some simply moved away from him, walking off without even knowing why. With Ciri’s magic acting beforehand.

’Well, this isn’t very different from your grandmother’s court, is it? I remember it being quite annoying...,’ Madara said telepathically to his wife.

’No... this here is much worse. It doesn’t even compare... the nobles of Cintra didn’t act as if they wanted to devour my grandmother like here... Now I understand why my grandmother never allowed a sorceress into the court...,’ Ciri murmured. She had her arms locked around Madara, as if refusing to share him with any of these women; no matter what happened, she wouldn’t leave.

’I remember that you always protected me from several nobles trying to approach the princess of Cintra. Now I’m the one trying to protect you from these female gazes. What is wrong with these sorceresses? Look at the clothes they wear... and they look at you as if they’ve never seen a man before!’, Ciri continued complaining telepathically.

’Well, that’s Northern fashion,’ Madara shrugged. There were sorceresses with their breasts on display in their dresses, covered only by a thin, transparent layer that traced their bodies, not to mention their exposed legs; some even showed their intimate parts if they weren’t careful with how high the cut of the dress went, reaching up to the groin.

The Northern sorceresses were certainly much more promiscuous and spoke openly about sex and men, so it wasn’t surprising that they were practically devouring Madara with their eyes.

Ciri looked at the Nilfgaardian sorceresses. They didn’t even wear makeup, with the exception of Fringilla, Francesca, and the other elf, who had been raised in the North. The others were more discreet. ’Why couldn’t they be more like that?’

Madara noticed Ciri’s gaze. ’It seems that, when it comes to sorceresses, beauty is frowned upon in the South. They don’t even wear makeup or dresses that show so much skin,’ Madara commented mentally, casting a glance at Isabella working in the distance. She didn’t need to be like the Nilfgaardian sorceresses, but she also wouldn’t accept that exhibitionist behavior of the Northern sorceresses. She could be beautiful, but not vulgar. After all, she wouldn’t go to Cintra to be a promiscuous sorceress getting involved with nobles and kings like many did in the northern courts.

’Well, try to survive this until the end of the night. We should socialize a bit and then start talking about the real problem. Before that, focus on whatever happens tonight...,’ Madara said.

’Alright...’ Ciri replied, drinking a little from her goblet as she turned her attention back to Yennefer, who was speaking.

"Aretuza maintains high standards. Unfortunately, not all students manage to reach them to become sorceresses," Yennefer said, explaining to Madara and Ciri.

"So they become something like lawyers, right?", Madara asked, already knowing very well how it worked, but no one around had any idea that he was already very familiar with how the school operated. Thus, they talked about the functioning of the castle and the school as if it were the first time any of them had been there.

"Yes. They act in courts or in large cities, on behalf of the school or on their own, but they receive validation to pursue a career in that area. I had three colleagues who couldn’t become sorceresses... they died a long time ago, more than fifty years ago, since they don’t live as long as we do," Yennefer said, with her nearly one hundred years.

"It’s quite a beautiful castle," Ciri said in a polite tone, resting her head against Madara’s arms.

"I’ve heard that the blood of Cintra has great magical power. I’m sure the princess would do very well here," Philippa’s voice came up. It seemed she had finally found an opening to enter the conversation.

Everyone could see the small crease of irritation appear on Yennefer’s forehead upon hearing her colleague.

"Well, there is certainly a legend that the blood of my family comes from a powerful sorceress," Ciri said to her, acting like a noble.

"Yes, there are certain tales about that, but I believe the princess can say more than that. We’ve heard that you can use certain abilities... In Skellige, they spoke very highly of them, you facing living legends...", Philippa said, drinking, but without taking her eyes off Ciri and Madara. "Not to mention that Tissaia announced that you are a sorceress. It is certainly very surprising."

Of course, it wasn’t enough for Tissaia to declare it — several people at that party had already sought information. They discovered that Ciri possessed certain abilities. Since the fight against the Wild Hunt was very open to hide, and many people saw Ciri using her magical teleportation.

"It’s true. Ciri is extraordinary," Yennefer replied with a tone of pride.

"You taught her, but not only you... Triss is also behind the princess’s learning, isn’t she?", Philippa said, as Triss looked at her.

"It’s true," Ciri replied without hesitation. "Yennefer and Triss are excellent teachers."

"And you are not in Aretuza... that’s a bit out of the ordinary. After all, all of us graduated here. Are you alright with that?", Philippa said, with a touch of feigned concern.

Yennefer snorted. "Ciri is far too talented. She has no problem handling her magic, even without Aretuza’s supervision."

"And we also don’t have time. We will soon be at war against those monsters from that obscure realm, a danger my husband will make everyone aware of tonight.", Ciri added.

Everyone looked at her and nodded in agreement.

"My wife speaks the truth. And her main style is close combat with a touch of magic, and we don’t have time for anything else now that our world may be in danger," Madara emphasized.

"May I join the conversation?", a feminine and seductive voice sounded, as a woman appeared wearing a transparent dress, her breasts exposed, looking directly at Madara.

’What is this?!’, Ciri exclaimed telepathically upon seeing the woman’s audacity.

"Sabrina, have some respect!" Triss looked at the blonde, displeased, and spoke, being one of the boldest among the sorceresses. She was not alone — Margarita was also approaching beside her.

Madara looked at both, especially the blonde at her side; Margarita would replace Tissaia in Aretuza after the mage’s death and would become part of the ’Lodge of Sorceresses’. All the members who would be part of this group were there that night. Francesca, along with her future assistant and apprentice, Ida Emean, was also present, as well as Fringilla and one of the Nilfgaardian sorceresses among their group.

That made him think about Triss. This version of her was a bit different from the books and more similar to the game. In the games, she appeared much more friendly and protective, seeking to fill her emptiness with love; she was capable of fighting for her friends and her love with her life. This version seemed to be like that, while the one from the books was more cowardly — she was someone who had abandoned Yennefer and practically sold out Ciri when the Lodge of Sorceresses was formed. Yennefer was the only one who, upon discovering that the Lodge wanted to use Ciri, tried to kill herself to protect her daughter.

Yennefer was far more loyal than Triss; Triss betrayed everyone in the books, while Yennefer preferred to die rather than sell or betray Ciri or Geralt.

However, Madara was more inclined to believe that this Triss was like the one from the games — someone trustworthy, someone he had helped, but who also knew her feelings for him. And she had no reason to betray them.

As for the other sorceresses... well, Margarita certainly didn’t have the same political appeal as the others. All she wanted was to preserve magic. The Lodge of Sorceresses was created precisely so that these women could try to control the continent, seeing that the privilege of sorcerers and mages was diminishing in the face of kings. So, they tried to create their own space — a realm where magic would not be persecuted, as was already beginning to happen in the North at that moment. They were right in one way, but wrong in another.

Returning to the present, Sabrina placed her hand over her mouth in an apologetic gesture as she looked at Ciri for her lack of respect.

"Ah, sorry. It’s just that I was so excited to meet the most powerful man on the continent. I’m Sabrina Glevissig, you are Princess Cirilla! Did you know that most of the sorceresses here are jealous of your position?", she said, giving a small giggle.

Ciri clearly didn’t like that. "Ah, stop it, Sabrina. You can’t see a man and already act like that," Margarita commented beside her.

"Ah, but we’re not talking about just any man! He’s so stylish and handsome!", Sabrina replied shamelessly, intensifying her posture even more and looking Madara up and down, stopping for a few seconds to stare at the middle of his legs in front of everyone without caring.

Ciri didn’t like the way she looked at Madara — as if she wanted to strip him with her eyes, leaning her body provocatively and showing even more of her breasts.

"Well, I would ask that you show a little more respect. You are beside my wife. I don’t like this kind of approach. If you continue with this, I will be forced to turn my back or ask you to leave.", Madara said calmly, but there was firmness there with a touch of threat.

Sabrina stepped back slightly. "Of course, of course," she said, still maintaining a smile. That didn’t seem to have discouraged her — quite the opposite —, but she still seemed to understand the limit.

Philippa also didn’t fail to cast a deadly look at Sabrina, who had intruded into the conversation. Before she could speak, Margarita stepped forward.

"Hello, Lord Madara. It is an honor to meet you. I am Margarita Laux-Antille.", she said, but her tone was very similar to Sabrina’s. She looked at Madara with a certain interest, and it was sexual as well.

’Why is she talking to you like that after having scolded her friend?’, Ciri exclaimed. It wasn’t the first time she had seen women flirt with her husband, but so shamelessly... that place was already starting to irritate her and push her to the limit.

Some glass began to crack in the hall’s windows, as well as a few goblets shattering, startling several people around.

Madara noticed what was happening and sighed. ’Calm down, Ciri. Don’t let your anger control you because of these women,’ Madara said.

’I know...,’ she replied, still a bit angry.

’Let them continue being like this. You know I have no intention of giving attention to this type of woman. You are the mother of my child, my wife. There is nothing that would make me replace you in this life.’

Ciri seemed to calm down, but she was still tense. ’Sorry about that... but I’m about to punch one of them,’ Ciri declared. ’Even without knowing all of this... it’s still irritating. Because I love you and I’m jealous!’, she murmured, even if no one could hear. A slight blush appeared on her face.

’I love you too, Ciri,’ he replied. ’I may not show it the way you want, but the Uchiha love more fiercely than anyone else.’

That made Ciri melt, looking at him surprised and smiling. ’For me, you’re perfect the way you are...’ she said.

The silence between the two and Ciri’s reaction, while Madara remained stoic, did not go unnoticed. There was clearly a conversation happening between them. Everyone somehow realized that they could communicate without anyone knowing exactly how — while the brooches and magical artifacts remained hidden.

Madara sighed before continuing. "Hello. You must be Margarita, correct?"

"Yes. I just came to say that I appreciate everything you are about to do tonight — protecting the world from an invasion from a dangerous dimension. A true hero, even with your powers, you are very sensible..." She said, still maintaining interest, despite having a certain pride. She admired Madara, without a doubt.

"I’m doing what I believe is right, this world is also my home." Madara said.

"Yes, and about the portal you are looking for, something like this happened a long time ago... the Conjunction of the Spheres. When we, humans, and the monsters invaded this world, while the elves ruled it," she said.

That was certainly true. The greatest event in The Witcher’s world was the Conjunction of the Spheres, when the planets aligned and several rifts in space opened. Races emerged, humans and monsters came with them, and humans arrived in this world for the first time, quickly dominating the continent and driving elves and dwarves from their lands and cities, while monsters spread everywhere.

Humans had the advantage due to their rapid birth rate, and it was only a matter of time before they won the wars.

Something similar had also happened with the Uchiha clan. His clan came through a power opening a breach in space with the Mangekyō Sharingan of the patriarch of that time, who had probably fled from the Ōtsutsuki, who sought the Nine-Tails. There was still a great mystery about all of this — something Madara intended to uncover.

"Yes," Madara replied to Margarita. "And because of that, we know how dangerous these wormholes are, these folds in space. The creature I faced years ago promised revenge. At the same time, I managed to speak with some creatures from that dimension recently... they gave me an essential clue to find the portal."

Margarita, Sabrina, and everyone around listened to that attentively, clearly impacted.

Madara wondered who would be involved in the attack that night. He observed the sorceresses, searching for some suspicious expression, while they seemed to be calculating something, studying every detail.

The music, which had stopped, began to play again. He looked toward the dance floor and saw several couples dancing, trying not to get involved with Madara now. Then, Madara turned his gaze back to Ciri and the crowd around them.

His wife still seemed to be savoring what he had said, but she could soon become irritated again as more sorceresses approached shamelessly.

So, he needed to distract her... and also push those women away somehow.

"I would love to continue talking, but I would like to dance a bit with my wife. We will talk later," Madara said, stepping away before more people tried to start a conversation.

Despite the somewhat disappointed looks — since he had just arrived — he took Ciri by the hand.

She immediately opened a happy smile upon realizing they were moving away from that crowd.

’I would love to dance,’ she said telepathically.

They moved toward the center of the floor, surprising everyone who watched Madara’s every move. Many saw when he held his wife’s hand and pulled her close, beginning the dance.
