 The shopping group arrived not long after, looking somewhere between overwhelmed and exhausted.
 "Wistover is a much more interesting city than I had expected.
 Not only did they not chase me out of shops, they seemed to welcome me more warmly than average. They sell nearly anything here, and I even managed to find some useful houseware that looks like it will last for decades." General Marshall informed Dominic the moment he saw him come around the corner of the house.
 "A particularly buxom young lady at the forge with the Dwarves?" Dominic asked.
 "How did you know?"
 "He’s our resident master tool smith. It’s no joke that you can expect his housewares to last for decades. In fact, Sir Charles is still using enamelled steel plates that he bought decades ago, when Pops was still running a forge in the capital city."
 "Oh, you really did manage to snag some talent. I also saw many of the Trollish mages from southern Axbridge here. It looks like their whole Sect moved.
 Which explains why we haven’t found them in a while.
 They were one of the few Sects that would trade with us, but now that we know where to find them, it’s all good. Wistover is an amazing place," the General gushed.
 Lord Blackwell sighed and rolled his eyes. "You would think the man had never seen a city before. I swear that he bought something at every shop in town, including the bakery and the general store."

 </div> Dominic laughed. "Well, they do live in the middle of nowhere, so I suppose it’s understandable. Plus, Maisey’s bakery is a local legend. It’s hard to argue against that."
 Marshall smiled. "I saw that when I arrived. Half the shop was freshly restocked, still coming out of the bakery trays, and it was clear that they were expecting another rush after the morning bread deliveries.
 You know, in most towns, the baker does nearly all their business before breakfast."
 "Well, that is also true for Maisey’s Bakery. But they sell so much in the morning that they’re still busy all day long. They make almost all the baked goods for the other restaurants in town.
 Even the Inn uses their bread, though they make their own biscuits and scones for breakfast." Dominic explained, then he gestured to the house.
 "Come on in, we’ve got lunch ready. If I can smell it from here, I’m sure that you can as well.
 I’ve also got your order ready. I had to pull some from my spare parts to assemble new rifles, but everything is good to go, tested and effective."
 The General looked stunned at that news. "You managed to prepare so many weapons in a day?"
 "I had help, but yes. I got you forty mana revolvers with fire damage and mana recovery, four Ogre Hunting Rifles with ammunition creation built in, and fifty Uncommon spears.
 That should be enough to get you started, and we will arrange pickup of the spell gems, if you don’t have them prepared.
 I know that it’s a pretty big order, so I don’t expect that you’ll have them on hand."
 The General smiled. "In fact, they should have enough. We’ve been stockpiling them in the vain hope that someone would finally buy them from us.
 You see, when the people don’t have much of anything, you need to give them a task to keep them busy and keep them from despairing. Is that something that you did while you were on the run for so long?
 If that’s not insensitive to ask.
 We don’t get as much news about the rest of the continent as most nations would, so I only know the basics."
 Lord Blackwell laughed, while Dominic simply shrugged.
 "I didn’t worry much about tasks. You see, I have horrible luck trying to hide the fact that I’m a dragonkin, and being a wanted war criminal greatly reduced the number of employment opportunities that I had.
 Until I found my way to Cygnia City, I didn’t spend much time settling anywhere, I was just constantly moving.
 So, I had enough to do."
 Lord Blackwell leaned over to whisper to the General. "He left out the part about how Dagos officially insists he has a kill count after the war ended in the five digits, just counting their soldiers.
 It might be a bit overstated, but I don’t think that it’s that outlandish."
 Dominic shrugged. The worst of it was during blackouts, so he didn’t actually know the count. It was surely in the thousands, it was easily in the hundreds just this last year. But the total wasn’t clear.
 "Now now. Let’s pick a lighter topic for lunch. We’ve got a fine deal done, and the Burlish Resistance has made great strides in their efforts to find a source of supplies to keep up their noble work of ensuring the safety of their homeland.

 I wonder if we have something special for dessert, or if Miss Beth went all out with the soup instead?"
 "Is your chef a Troll?" Marshall asked.
 "No, human. Formerly of the Cygnian Royal Palace. She’s incredible, but the Trolls have a soft spot for her because of her affinity for soups as an art form. Actually, I don’t know that there is any chef that the Trolls aren’t fond of.
 They talk a big game, but they’re actually just foodies."
 "I won’t argue against that.
 But then, mine are always hungry, so I might be biased on that topic. They certainly do look happy over there with your lot, though."
 "Mountain Trolls are highly social. But I would say that it might be your Giants who are the happiest. If we let them visit much longer, we’re going to have a Karaoke competition going on in the barracks."
 The thought of Mountain Troll Karaoke was enough to make both Marshall and Lord Blackwell laugh.
 Dave was many things, but an incredible singer was not on the list.</div>
