This Journey to the West is so terrifying
Chapter 384 - 252: Turmoil
This time, the Buddhist Sect had fallen into such a passive situation, which caused him, the newly appointed Buddha, to suffer much criticism.
Maitreya also felt a fire burning in his heart, as he wanted to prove to everyone on Mount Ling that he was a Buddha in truth and not just in name.
However, the situation was far from over.
No sooner had one wave settled than another arose.
At some point, a group of people claiming to be from the White Lotus Sect began to preach near Mount Ling.
Since they also practiced the Buddhist Law, initially, Mount Ling did not pay much attention to them.
Given that Mount Ling was currently full of various factions and sects, a new Buddhist group was not unusual and did not attract attention.
Yet it was this slight oversight that allowed the White Lotus Sect to grow rapidly.
Compared to the strict discipline of the Buddhist Sect, the White Lotus Sect was much more permissive, and although they nominally upheld the Buddhist Law, in reality, they advocated indulgence of desires to find liberation.
This resulted in the intense release of desires suppressed by the Buddhist Sect, and in a short period, countless followers converted to the White Lotus Sect.
That day, various Buddhas were still preaching on Mount Ling. With no disturbances from Marx, Mount Ling had regained its rare tranquility.
However, the noise of chaos immediately attracted everyone’s attention.
"Where is that noise coming from?"
Looking up, they saw smoke and shouting at the foot of Mount Ling, with rising dust clearly visible on the mountain.
Various Buddhas were struck dumb, having never seen such a scene before.
This was not the aftermath of a Cultivator’s actions but the smoke of war raised by all living beings.
The word "war" had not been mentioned on the lands of Xiniu Continent for many years. Since the rise of the Buddhist Sect, this area had been the heartland of the sect, influenced by Mount Ling, where people practiced Buddhist Law and were kind to each other, with no wars occurring.
But now, the steps of war were approaching Mount Ling, and a sea of people fought across the land. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
The sounds of fighting and screams filled the space between heaven and earth, filling this land with the aura of the mundane world filled with desires and distractions.
At this moment, various Buddhas could no longer sit still; they could endure people questioning the Buddhist Law but could not tolerate the mass death of followers, which was undermining the foundation of the Buddhist Sect.
Countless Buddhas descended from Mount Ling, releasing their great Dharma Power, attempting to dispel the weapons on the earth.
However, when they saw the endless followers of the Hundred Lotus Sect, they felt an indescribable feeling.
"All are false Buddhas, only the Holy Lord of the Hundred Lotus is the true Buddha," endless followers of the White Lotus Sect shouted as they charged at them.
In their eyes, these people, insignificant as ants, crazily shouted such slogans and launched an attack on the Buddhas.
It was as ludicrous as an ant foolishly trying to kill an elephant.
But the Buddhas couldn’t laugh, for one ant was indeed insignificant, but when ants covered the hills, their collective force was enough to shock.
They had never thought that they would be frightened by such a group; they were clearly weak and ignorant, but when these people gathered together, their combined force was enough to terrify these Buddhas who had lived through many long years.
When the attack hit them, some Buddhas were surprisingly angry, they were high above and always worshiped, such a situation had never occurred before.
So they subconsciously retaliated, and the terrifying power fell into the crowd, instantly causing blood to spill everywhere.
How could the fragile bodies of ordinary people withstand the mighty force of Buddha, resulting in flesh and blood flying in an instant.
However, this bloodshed did not cause the people to shrink back; instead, it fueled their anger, and endless waves of people surged toward the Buddhas.
Gradually, the blood dyed the bodies of the Buddhas red, turning these self-proclaimed holy ones grotesquely fierce.
"Look, these False Buddhas have torn off their disguises and shown their true faces. They teach us to be kind, yet they are greedy and murderous, ruling over us with lies," someone shouted loudly in the crowd.
The Buddhas quickly noticed these people, who were the core of this group, continuously inciting the innocent commoners to hate the Buddhist Sect.
"You shall die!" roared the Buddha, and the person who was shouting loudly died by the Buddha’s hand.
"You can kill us, but you cannot hide the truth, you False Buddhas!"
Countless people raised their arms and shouted; the deaths seemed to make them even more furious.
At this moment, the Buddhas were scared. These countless enemies in their eyes were not some powerful beings, but this bloody massacre was a test of their Daoist Heart every time.
The Buddhist Sect is compassionate; Buddha cut flesh to feed the eagle, but when push came to shove, they realized that true sacrifice required great perseverance, at least these immortal ones were not willing to sacrifice themselves.
With no other choice, Various Buddhas had to retreat temporarily. If this continued, this mob would not be finished off, but their Daoist Hearts would be destroyed first.
It is known that if the disciples of the Buddhist Sect have problems with their Daoist Heart, it is far more horrifying than the Daoist’s family.
Due to the karmic ties between Buddha and Marx, disciples of the Buddhist Sect are more likely to fall into the Demon Path, and people in the Demon Path are also more likely to understand the Buddhist Law and transform from demon to Buddha.
It is for this reason that the Daoist Heart is particularly important. If there is a flaw in the Daoist Heart, it is easy to be blinded by desires and fall into the Demon Path.
How terrifying a Buddha who has fallen into the Demon Path can be is chilling to think about.
"Amitabha Buddha, where did this White Lotus Sect come from, and why do they have such great ability to incite so many commoners to revolt?" a Buddha asked, puzzled.
He believed that the Buddhist Sect led people to kindness and educated all living beings; having worked hard in Xiniu Continent, they should be respected, yet why were they despised by these people at the instigation of the White Lotus Sect?
"Who is behind this, and how did they achieve it? If we don’t solve this problem, surely we shouldn’t just kill all these people?"
Thinking of that crowd spreading far and wide, they couldn’t help but shudder.
"Kill people? I’m afraid we won’t have finished killing them before our Daoist Hearts are already riddled with holes, and we have fallen into the Demon Path."
"The only plan for now is to clearly understand why these people despise us so much and unravel this puzzle can we resolve this crisis."
The Various Buddhas established a plan, using Great Dharma Power to shield Mount Ling so that these ordinary people couldn’t find it, and then secretly sending people to investigate the reason.
And when the investigation results were presented in front of everyone, the Various Buddhas were greatly shocked.
It turned out that the previous situation in Xiniu Continent, despite outwardly seeming peaceful and joyful, was actually filled with crises, as the sacrifices to the Buddhist Sect had made many commoners suffer immensely.
The disciples of the Buddhist Sect did not produce anything, yet required all living beings to provide for them, and Xiniu Continent had an especially high number of monks, each one less laborer to work.
As this had continued, the people of Xiniu Continent had long been overwhelmed.
