This Journey to the West is so terrifying
Chapter 392 - 260: Arriving
It’s no wonder these fierce-looking faces harbor such hatred towards the Buddhist Sect.
This discovery made everyone’s faces look rather unpleasant, after all, the Buddhist Sect values compassion, but now such a promising disciple of the Buddhist Sect had committed such evil deeds secretly, how could it not be shocking?
This situation also indicated that the Buddhist Sect was accelerating its corruption, and if not stopped, the crisis of destruction might be imminent.
However, at this time, it was not the moment for investigation, and the primary goal was still to seal Poxun.
"Amitabha Buddha, it is a sin, a grievous sin," whispered a Buddha before he began chanting a sutra for transcending souls.
The scripture reached the ears of the Demon Head, surprisingly causing him to show a pained expression.
"Stop chanting, you bald donkey!"
The Various Buddhas immediately rejoiced upon seeing this; they hadn’t expected the transcending souls’ sutra to actually affect this sinister Demon Head.
Suddenly, countless chanting voices filled the entirety of Mount Ling.
The pained expression on the Demon Head’s face grew even more intense, clearly, the sutra for transcending souls was extremely uncomfortable for him.
Only a sharp scream emitted from his mouth, an invisible sound wave swept across, causing everyone to feel dizzy the instant they heard it.
Most crucially, this sound could provoke one’s nature, making the Buddhas, who had not felt hunger in a long time, suddenly experience an overdue sensation of hunger—a truly bizarre power.
"Haha, think you can hold me? You’re not worthy," Poxun suddenly laughed uproariously.
Surrounded by the crowd at Mount Ling, there was still no fear on Poxun’s face; instead, he seemed ecstatic.
With a light shout, boundless dark mana overflowed from his body, and many Demon Heads appeared from it.
They charged towards the Buddhist disciples like madmen, and shockingly broke the encirclement in one fell swoop.
"Impossible!" exclaimed a Buddha in shock.
Poxun had been sealed for many years, and the Demon Heads he had created upon breaking the seal had been exterminated; where had he found so many Demon Heads?
Moreover, judging by their aura, these were not ordinary Demon Heads; even among previous Demon Heads, they could be considered as some of the most superior.
The Buddhist Sect, utilizing the formation of Mount Ling, began to trap these breakout Demon Heads but was surprised to discover that these Demon Heads seemed unusually familiar with Mount Ling.
They could often easily find the nodes of the formation and break them, even more familiar with the nodes than some of the people of Mount Ling.
"Hui Tong!" a monk said incredulously as he addressed a Demon Head.
He was not mistaken, the face atop that Demon Head was indeed that of Monk Hui Tong.
Monk Hui Tong had a very old tenure on Mount Ling, and for many people of Mount Ling, he was their mentor, but now this monk had transformed into a very special Demon Head, running rampant in Mount Ling.
It wasn’t just him; everyone discovered that these bursting Demon Heads were all transformed from Buddhist disciples, and they were even from a particularly outstanding group of disciples.
"Why has it come to this!" a Buddha murmured to himself.
These were all stalwarts of the Buddhist Sect, yet now they had thrown themselves into the embrace of the Demon Head, becoming the very ones who ravaged the sect.
For many, this was virtually a crisis of faith, considering many of these people were their teachers—at least the Buddhas wouldn’t normally be expounding the scriptures to these monks.
"Ah!" A monk, unable to withstand the blow, was instantly invaded by the demonic aura and in the blink of an eye, transformed into a Demon Head, joining the ranks that slaughtered the Buddhist disciples.
This situation was despairing, as those who had fought alongside each other now turned into executioners slaughtering their own.
A panic that was difficult to express immediately permeated Mount Ling, which also caused more monks to lose control of their minds and transform into Demon Heads that plagued Mount Ling.
"Damn it!" A Buddha entangled by a Demon Head roared angrily, striving to suppress the fury in his heart, for if he were transformed into a Demon Head, that would be a disaster for Mount Ling.
Marx, the enemy of Various Buddhas, laughed loudly at the scene before him. Even if he could not destroy the Buddhist Sect this time, he had greatly weakened its vitality, and it likely couldn’t recover any time soon.
He wasn’t in a hurry, as with time, more Demon Heads would emerge. Eventually, he could reverse and infect Mount Ling, turning this holy land of Buddhism into a Demon Land, thus avenging the Seal he suffered from the Buddha.
Just then, a Buddhist chant came from the sky, and an endless brilliance was born, carrying an endless light of wisdom.
Under the light of wisdom, countless people shook off the confusion and fear in their hearts, wisdom was born, they saw the Mind and understood their Nature, and rediscovered themselves.
The Demon Heads, fluttering in the air, also screamed in agony upon encountering the light of wisdom. Though they had overcome Buddha’s Light, the nature of their humanity was restrained by the light of wisdom.
Wisdom is the foundation to suppress primal desires.
"Huh!" Marx murmured softly, raising his head to see a Bodhisattva riding an Auspicious Cloud flying from the east.
The newcomer wore the five peaks of great wisdom on his crown, holding a sword in his hand—signifying the sharp sword of wisdom—and rode a lion, representing the imposing force of wisdom. It was Manjushri Bodhisattva, the symbol of the wisdom of the Buddhist Sect. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
His arrival instantly invigorated everyone, for although Manjushri Bodhisattva was a Bodhisattva, he had profound Mana and was one of the top experts in the Buddhist Sect, unmatched by ordinary Buddhas.
What was even more precious was that this Bodhisattva was the embodiment of wisdom, and his light of wisdom was precisely what restrained these newly born bizarre Demon Heads.
"So it’s Manjushri, not staying at your Mount Wutai but coming here to protect Maitreya?" Marx’s face showed a mocking smile.
After all, when Maitreya ascended to Buddha’s position, wary of the power of the Four Great Bodhisattvas, he had each Bodhisattva return to their Dojos, which is why they were unable to arrive at the scene promptly during this disaster.
Despite such ostracism, Manjushri had arrived so quickly at Mount Ling. By stating this, Marx was purposely stirring discord between Maitreya and Manjushri.
"With the evil demon plaguing Mount Ling, I, as a Bodhisattva of Buddhism, naturally bear the duty to subdue demons and ward off evil. As for the Demon King Marx, long time no see—still so fond of manipulating people’s hearts," Manjushri responded with a smile.
As the Buddha subdued Marx back then, Manjushri Bodhisattva was by his side, naturally familiar with Marx. His response was forceful, and he was by no means courteous just because the other party was a Demon King.
"Thinking of subduing me? You’re not qualified. You shouldn’t have come, but since you have, I’ll deal with you too," Marx said menacingly.
But anyone could hear the wariness in his tone.
"You are a Demon King, and I, a mere monk, wouldn’t dare to boast so boldly."
