This Journey to the West is so terrifying
Chapter 401 - 269: Super Degree
This feeling made him extremely frustrated, and the phrase "spinning a cocoon around oneself" was the perfect description of his predicament at that moment.
Although the old monk was aged, his strength had not declined in the slightest. His entire being seemed to have transformed into a Vajra of the Buddhist Sect, each move and stance carried with immense power.
Going head-to-head with such an opponent was not rational, the best method would be to transform into an intangible state. However, due to Shanxing’s presence, he was unable to alter his state and could only endure these horrendous injuries.
"Stop! If you dare, let me show my true form!" the Demon Head roared in anger.
But the old monk was by no means a pedantic person. Having finally encountered such a good opportunity, how could he be willing to give it up? He continued to attack the Demon Head, who was already at death’s door, relentlessly.
Under the final assault, the Demon Head let out a piercing scream and instantly dissipated into smoke, vanishing between Heaven and Earth,
This evil Demon Head had finally met its end.
The old monk lowered his eyes and chanted Kṣitigarbha’s Soul Ferrying Sutra, and his disciples, following his example, also began to chant.
The sound of the sutra echoed within the temple, diminishing the originally terrifying atmosphere by quite a bit.
With the blessing of the sutra, figures gradually emerged from the bodies that lay on the ground. At this moment they bore no trace of their former ferocity and brutality, each revealing a kind smile.
These smiles were so familiar; Shanxing had seen the abbot and his fellow brothers and sisters display such smiles countless times in years past.
Yet these once commonplace smiles now seemed like precious treasures in his eyes.
The scenes of his brothers and sisters accusing and slaughtering each other were still vivid in his mind, like a venomous snake continuously biting at Shanxing’s soul.
At this moment, it all had been released; his fellow brothers had all returned.
"Brother!" Shanxing said, choking back tears at the corners of his eyes.
Even when faced with the Demon Head advancing on him, even as boundless fear consumed his soul, Shanxing had held back his tears, never bursting into loud sobs.
But at this moment, he could no longer suppress the pain in his heart. His cry echoed through the temple, and his tears flowed ceaselessly to the ground like beads strung on a broken thread.
He was still such a child.
The carefree life he once knew had vanished without a trace, and at last, he was alone in this world.
Seeing Shanxing weep, the spirits flew to his side one by one, comforting the child with their ethereal forms, as he now had to walk the path ahead alone.
Countless spirits surrounded Shanxing, their fervent emotions not dampened by life or death.
Shanxing wiped away his tears and forced a slight smile. He wanted his loved ones to pass on in peace, and not worry for him.
In the end, the spirits embraced Shanxing, then vanished into light on the spot.
Shanxing gazed blankly at the scene; from that point on, he was the only one left in the temple.
Seeing this, the old monk chanted softly, "Amitabha Buddha, auspicious, truly auspicious!"
Although these people were blinded by desire and fell into the Demon Path, fortunately, their souls had been saved in time to ascend to heaven, with the chance of reincarnation still ahead of them.
"What do you plan to do from now on?" The old monk gently stroked Shanxing’s little head and asked in a very gentle tone.
Shanxing shook his head. He didn’t know what the future held for him; despite his youth, he had encountered such a tragic event. Now, he felt as if there was no place for him within the vastness of Heaven and Earth.
"If you don’t mind, follow me. But that also means that from now on, you’ll have to confront the Demon Head," the old monk said with a light sigh.
To tell the truth, he did not want to make such a choice. Shanxing was still too young and should not have to grow up amidst danger. But he had no better alternative. Nowadays, because the Demon King had arisen, Xiniu Continent had fallen into chaos, with many temples suffering the attacks of the Demon Head, incurring heavy losses.
For a little monk like Shanxing, it was not an easy task to survive in this world full of crises.
"I am willing!" Upon hearing this, Shanxing nodded firmly.
He wanted to follow this old Mage, to help him cleanse the world of its Demon Heads and restore peace to Heaven and Earth.
And so, the old monk, along with Shanxing and others, once again embarked on the path of demon-slaying.
Similar scenes were unfolding in many parts of Xiniu Continent as well.
Under the rampant destruction of the Demon Head, the Buddhist Sect finally revealed its tremendous vitality. Even though many monks had perished in the turmoil, the crisis also bred many with unyielding wills, who saw the extermination of demons as the pursuit of their lives.
Over time, such teams continued to grow, bringing renewed faith to the land.
At the same time, within the Heavenly Court, all was harmonious and peaceful. The absence of the Buddhist Sect’s constraints left the immortals of the Heavenly Court feeling as if a big weight had been lifted from their shoulders.
They had originally thought the conflict with the Buddhist Sect would turn into a protracted war. However, without anyone noticing, this war had been dissipated.
The immortals were greatly startled by the Jade Emperor’s tactics. It was then that they realized that the Supreme of the Three Realms was indeed the true ruler of the Three Realms nowadays. In both means and mentality, no one in the Three Realms could surpass him.
So the once proud immortals lowered their heads one by one, expressing their thoughts with a respectful attitude.
The Jade Emperor reestablished his supreme authority within the Heavenly Court.
However, as he looked upon the respectful immortals, not a trace of a smile crossed the Jade Emperor’s face. He had a clear grasp of their characters—like ungrateful wolf cubs.
In the past, out of respect for the Three Pure Ones, he had turned a blind eye to many actions of the immortals. But now that the Three Pure Ones had departed, it was time to properly rectify the Heavenly Court.
Of course, in front of all the immortals, the Jade Emperor remained aloof and majestic, as if detached from the Three Realms, but little did they know that deep inside, the Supreme was already plotting how to handle these arrogant immortals.
In the southwest corner of the Heavenly Court was the Heavenly Forge Bureau. As a very important place in the Heavenly Court today, there were guards every five steps and sentries every ten, making it impregnable.
After all, many technologies here were top secret of the Heavenly Court, naturally guarded with the utmost security. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Liu Ming skillfully handled the materials in his hands. After living here for so long, he had completely adjusted to life in the Heavenly Court.
Overall, for a craftsman, the Heavenly Court was definitely a dream place. Not only did it possess the top technologies of the Three Realms, but the precious materials were inexhaustible.
Because the Emperor valued the Heavenly Forge Bureau highly, every craftsman here had a lofty status. This was why all the craftsmen were full of enthusiasm.
Having finished processing the wood in his hands, Liu Ming had completed his tasks for the day; now, he could do whatever he wanted with his remaining time.
