Chapter 513: Chapter 433: The Gift

Not only did the strike of the board rip open their skin and burst their flesh, it also continuously diminished their mana and plundered their life spans, making it a kind of punishment even the Immortals feared.

However, at this moment, the fates of these Immortal Officers had already been sealed, and the furious Jade Emperor needed someone to bear the brunt of his wrath. This also served as a warning for others to remain honest.

The sound of the beating echoed within the quiet Lingxiao Treasured Palace, and all the Immortals held their breath and dared not speak out.

"Your Majesty, spare our lives!" the cries of the Immortal Officers still echoed.

This beating was a skillful task; the severity and urgency were entirely up to the executioner—or rather, up to the thoughts of the Jade Emperor.

If the Jade Emperor wished for someone to die, then a few strikes might drain their life, but if he did not wish them dead, even dozens of severe beatings would not pose a big problem.

However, this time the Jade Emperor was genuinely furious, and under his instruction, the executioners naturally struck hard.

In just a short while, the still-screaming Immortal Officers utterly lost their life force, while those in the Lingxiao Treasured Palace knelt trembling on the ground, not daring to utter another word.

The deaths of the few Immortal Officers successfully instilled fear in them, and the Jade Emperor, sitting on the heavenly throne with a cold face, made them understand once again what life and death control meant.

Everyone knew the Jade Emperor was making an example out of them, but they had to admit that this method was effective. At least the hearts that were stirring due to the destruction of the Immortal Transformation Pond and the Peach Garden settled down.

As the Jade Emperor observed everyone’s expressions, a faint smile appeared on his face; for him, a momentary failure might be annoying, but it could not bring him down.

Through many years of trials and tribulations, he had witnessed too many crises.

Although this time was more perilous than any before, there was still not a trace of fear in his heart.

"Your Majesty, they couldn’t withstand it and have died!"

"Let it be then, let their souls enter reincarnation," the Jade Emperor said indifferently, his words devoid of any emotion as if the deaths of these few did not affect him at all.

"Since the establishment of my Heavenly Court, it has subdued the Three Realms. Never has anyone dared to be so reckless and regard my Heavenly Court as nothing. Standing here, what do you all feel?" the Jade Emperor asked softly.

There was no evident joy or anger in his voice, but everyone knew that the Supreme was very angry at this moment.

After a long pause, Taibai Jinxing slowly stepped forward and said, "Your Majesty, if such villains are not punished by law, what dignity will my Heavenly Court have in the future to stand in the Three Realms and command All Living Beings? Although I am of modest abilities, I am willing to ease your worries, Your Majesty."

Seeing Taibai Jinxing speak like this, others immediately stepped forward to express their loyalty, "We swear to defend your Majesty’s honor to the death."

The Jade Emperor merely glanced at them indifferently, showing little response. Among so many, how many were truly sincere?

Just then, someone suddenly peeked their head from outside; the Divine Exorcist Great Sage frowned at the sight.

He naturally recognized the person outside; it was his own spy sent to monitor Mr. Mo. Seeing his anxious behavior waiting outside, it was highly probable that something had happened to Mr. Mo.

The Jade Emperor also noticed this situation and nodded slightly. The Divine Exorcist Great Sage understood and quietly exited the Lingxiao Treasured Palace.

"What’s the urgency?" the Divine Exorcist Great Sage asked in a deep voice.

The two spies monitoring Mr. Mo were carefully selected by him, and the Divine Exorcist Great Sage knew their nature well; unless something significant had occurred, they certainly would not behave like this.

"Great Saint, Mr. Mo asked me to invite you over," said the spy respectfully. "He mentioned he has a gift for you."

The spy deeply admired his superior, for the Divine Exorcist Great Saint had infiltrated the Demon Clan for many years and accomplished earth-shattering deeds, setting the pinnacle for them all.

"Mr. Mo, although I am not close to him, why would he suddenly give me a gift?" murmured the Divine Exorcist Great Saint. The whole situation seemed bizarre.

"Great Saint, Mr. Mo has been acting unusually today," the spy considered before speaking out.

"Unusually, in what way?"

"Mr. Mo usually keeps to himself, staying in his courtyard, and seldom interferes with the affairs of the Heavenly Forge Bureau. Yet, today, he suddenly took an interest and went outside to look around."

"He said he was joining in the fun, but Mr. Mo is not the type to seek excitement. Moreover, he seemed very happy today."

The Divine Exorcist Great Saint listened silently to the spy’s report. The more he listened, the deeper his frown became. There must be something demonic in the unusual, and Mr. Mo was indeed acting out of character.

" Let’s go. I want to see what kind of gift he has for me," said the Divine Exorcist Great Saint somberly.

The two hurried along and soon arrived at the open ground outside the Heavenly Forge Bureau, where they saw Mr. Mo, who seemed very interested as he surveyed his surroundings, guarded by two Heavenly Soldiers.

Mr. Mo, seeing the approaching Divine Exorcist Great Saint, flashed a strange smile.

"I wonder what matter brings me here at your request, sir," the Divine Exorcist Great Saint asked bluntly.

He had an ominous premonition, so his eyes were fixed on Mr. Mo, trying to discern any clue from his demeanor.

But Mr. Mo seemed somewhat obtuse. Upon hearing the Divine Exorcist Great Saint’s question, he did not answer immediately and maintained his previous expression.

The Divine Exorcist Great Saint asked with a frown, "Sir, are you feeling unwell today?"

"Ha-ha, it’s nothing serious. I have prepared a gift that I wish to personally present to the Great Saint," Mr. Mo suddenly laughed.

The Divine Exorcist Great Saint’s frown deepened. Although Mr. Mo appeared normal, he still felt that something was amiss.

"That truly flatters me, as I am not well-acquainted with you, sir. How could I dare accept such a grand gift?" the Divine Exorcist Great Saint said, declining the offer.

Mr. Mo paused again and took a big step forward before slowly saying, "How can you say we are not familiar? If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been stuck in the Heavenly Court for so many years, losing my memory and living in a haze. Don’t you think I should properly thank you for all this?"

Upon hearing this, the Divine Exorcist Great Saint’s expression drastically changed, and his heart was filled with confusion and suspicion. How had this man freed himself from his technique? His spell had long since damaged the man’s Primordial Spirit, and recalling such memories should have left him tormented and dead.

Yet the Mr. Mo in front of him did not look like someone who had endured such suffering.

"When did you recover your memory?" the Divine Exorcist Great Saint asked gravely.

"Probably many days ago," Mr. Mo replied, still smiling, yet subtly moving even closer to the Divine Exorcist Great Saint unnoticed.

The Divine Exorcist Great Saint, sensing danger, quickly leaped upwards, preparing to leave the area.
