This Journey to the West is so terrifying
Chapter 72 - 57 End
Great Immortal Lu Li silently chanted the incantation, and the huge beast in the sky suddenly dispersed, transforming back into numerous tiny insects that surged toward Faming like a tidal wave. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Faming, utterly fearless, actually chose to resist with his flesh and blood. His body amidst the sea of insects was like a lone leaf on a boat, at risk of capsizing at any moment.
Yet, it was this very small boat that remained majestic and immovable amidst the tempest, unaffected by the wind and waves, as if in a tranquil courtyard.
"Hss, this bald donkey has such a tough body." Great Immortal Yang Li couldn’t help but click his tongue in amazement.
A human could actually cultivate such a terrifyingly powerful body; the Divine Skills of the Buddhist Sect were indeed awe-inspiring and chilling.
"So what if his body is tough, watch me drain him." Great Immortal Lu Li sneered, with mana surging from his body, making the insects even more ferocious.
Countless insects, seemingly gone mad, swarmed over Faming, quickly submerging him within the sea of insects.
"Truly not worthy of pity." Great Immortal Lu Li glanced at the Taoist priests wailing on the ground and snorted coldly, though his face was full of triumphant satisfaction. After all, Faming was a formidable adversary; defeating him was indeed an accomplishment to be proud of.
However, reality always slapped one’s face unexpectedly. Before Great Immortal Lu Li could revel in the joy of his success, a golden light burst forth from the darkness. A golden Buddha began to grow, gradually becoming as tall as a mountain. Its whole body emitted a bright golden light, and its presence was imposing and majestic.
The countless insects turned to ash the moment they touched the Buddha’s Light. The dazzling light forced even the Three Immortals to step back, their expressions grave as they stared at the Buddha seated in the void.
"Thunder, come!" Great Immortal Hu Li roared, raising a golden token high into the sky, which was imbued with a mysterious aura.
At his command, endless thunder appeared from the sky, instantly turning the entire National Master Mansion into a sea of lightning. Purple bolts roamed across the area, completely destroying various rockeries and pavilions.
Yet the primary target of these thunderbolts was the Buddha sitting in the void. The light of the thunderbolts and the golden Buddha’s Light resonated, immediately illuminating the entire sky.
Countless people in the Capital City, witnessing this scene akin to divine intervention, knelt and prayed incessantly.
The Emperor of Chechi Kingdom was in the hall reviewing documents when he looked up and promptly jumped from his throne, hurried to the outside of the palace, and beheld a terrifying sight.
"Which direction is that?" he clamored anxiously.
"To respond to Your Majesty, that is where the State Preceptor is located. With such commotion, it is likely that the State Preceptor is engaged in a magical duel with someone," an old eunuch replied respectfully.
"There’s actually someone in Chechi Kingdom who can vie with the State Preceptor; I’m somewhat curious. Have someone go and find out," the Emperor ordered softly. The old eunuch bowed respectfully and withdrew, leaving the King alone to gaze at the distant vista.
Meanwhile, Lin Fang and others temporarily residing in a small alley also observed the commotion over the National Master Mansion. The little demons were already shivering from the formidable power of the blazing sky thunder, and even though they tried to stand upright, the innate instinct of life made them tremble uncontrollably.
Only the White Ape, facing such might, still stood tall with its chest puffed out, emanating a sharp aura.
In Gu Zhongtong’s eyes, his master seemed to have transformed into a treasured sword piercing the heavens at that moment. Suddenly, a sentence once spoken by the White Ape flashed through his mind, "A swordsman must dare to face fear and death head-on. Without conquering these two, you will never become a true swordsman."
Therefore, the young man clenched his teeth, was stubborn to the bone, and stood upright with all his might under the majesty of heaven, overcoming the fear in his heart. After that, Gu Zhongtong felt as if he saw a new Heaven and Earth.
The thunder descending from the sky seemed like swords plunging down, each strike containing the essence of the Dao and reason.
A trace of a smile emerged on his somewhat ragged face, a joy that came from deep within his heart.
Lin Fang acutely noticed the change in Gu Zhongtong and a knowing smile appeared on his face. With this enlightenment, Gu Zhongtong’s path to becoming a master would be smooth, and perhaps he might even take this opportunity to glimpse into the immortal Dao.
In comparison, a few little monsters showed signs of not holding up as well, which, of course, was because monsters fear heavenly thunder even more.
Meanwhile, in the National Master Mansion, the battle had gradually reached a fever pitch. Both sides employed their most powerful techniques, and huge tidal waves of energy began to sweep the surrounding area. The walls of the National Master Mansion, already battered, collapsed with a thunderous noise, even involving innocent bystanders.
Upon seeing this, the Three Immortals couldn’t help but furrow their brows. These commoners were believers they had not so easily gained. If they died in the aftermath of the battle, how could the Three Immortals hold their heads up in Chechi Kingdom?
Faming also became aware of the situation. Although he had always adhered to the principle of eliminating demons, he was absolutely compassionate towards ordinary people. As a result, both sides restrained their subsequent actions and calmed the dispute.
"Baldy, if not for you, why would my Daoist Sect’s followers be harmed?" Great Immortal Lu Li was the first to accuse.
"Demon, stop your deceptions. If it weren’t for you transforming into humans and corrupting my Buddhist Sect, this dispute wouldn’t have arisen today. Today, for the sake of the innocents, this poor monk doesn’t want to start another dispute. In the future, someone will surely seek justice for my Buddhist Sect," Faming said with vehemence.
After finishing his words, he stepped onto an auspicious cloud and flew into the sky.
"What audacity from that baldy, to think he can just leave. Stay and fight another three hundred rounds with this Daoist!" Great Immortal Lu Li was about to pursue through the air when his older brother held him back.
"Second brother, don’t be rash!"
"Big brother, you are being overly cautious! They’re bullying us at our doorsteps, and yet you hesitate to take action. Do you want the people of the world to laugh at us?"
"Second brother, stay calm. This monk is extraordinary in his capabilities. Should we engage in battle, numerous casualties will ensue. These commoners are the result of our efforts. If they are harmed, all our previous achievements will be in vain. Let’s wait for the Taoist Master’s favor in the future, then we can settle this once and for all."
Great Immortal Yang Li also pulled on Lu Li’s sleeve and advised, "Big brother is right. Who knows who else might be backing this monk? If we act rashly and fall into an ambush, we could risk our lives."
Seeing that both his brothers disagreed with his proposal, Great Immortal Lu Li sighed and stopped in his tracks.
As the other two Great Immortals watched, they finally breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at the mess within the courtyard, Great Immortal Hu Li frowned and said, "Useless things, hurry up and clean up. To be frightened by a monk into this state is a disgrace to us all."
The nearby Taoists then tentatively returned to the National Master Mansion, beginning to clear the mess on the ground. However, the tragic state of the National Master Mansion still shocked them greatly.
