Tiny Genius Alert! Mom & Dad Better Make Peace
Chapter 940 - 171: Love That Penetrates the Bones
All day long.
Someone hasn’t sent even a single text message...
Biting her lower lip slightly, Tang Yige sat up straight, reached out to pick up the phone on the table, opened it, clicked into the address book, and decisively dialed someone’s number.
As the beeping sound of the call connecting came, Tang Yige couldn’t help but hold her breath lightly.
About twenty seconds passed before the other end answered.
As the man’s magnetic and gentle voice swept through the phone waves into her eardrum, Tang Yige finally released her held breath, breathing softly twice.
"Yiyi."
Tang Yige’s cheeks warmed slightly, she exhaled before speaking, "Are you busy?"
"What’s up?" Rong Sinan asked softly.
"...Nothing, just asking," Tang Yige touched her head awkwardly and said.
"I’ll come over later, wait for me." Rong Sinan’s voice was even more gentle.
Tang Yige’s ears burned, but her mouth unconsciously curved into a smile, she hummed softly, "Who’s going to wait for you."
"Be good," Rong Sinan said.
"...Got it. You get busy." Tang Yige said, blushing.
"Heh. Okay."
Tang Yige pursed her lips and hung up the phone.
Ending the call, Tang Yige put down her phone, patted her face a few times, picked up the cheongsam and embroidered tools on the table, finally able to focus on her work.
...
Fang Jingyi’s solitary residence.
In the pavilion in the backyard, Fang Jingyi wore a green cashmere coat, draped with a white cashmere cape, sitting on a recliner with a warm plush blanket, a heater placed beside her feet, and holding a hand warmer.
Somewhat fatigue showing on her face, she frowned slightly, looking at Rong Sinan standing on the gravel path not far from the pavilion, speaking softly on the phone, her eyes subtly aflame.
After hanging up the phone, Rong Sinan’s slender fingers caressed the phone case several times before putting the phone back in his pocket.
Clear and bright brows hung visibly with pleasure, his long legs carried ease and cheer as he walked back into the pavilion.
"Whose call was that?"
Fang Jingyi solemnly pulled a face, immediately asking as Rong Sinan stepped into the pavilion.
The joy on Rong Sinan’s face dissipated slightly, he pursed his lips and looked at Fang Jingyi.
"Was it from Tang Yige?" Fang Jingyi asked.
"Yes." Rong Sinan didn’t deny this, calmly gazing at Fang Jingyi.
"Sinan!"
Fang Jingyi promptly placed the hand warmer she was holding onto the recliner beside her, eyes filled with anger and discontent as she looked at Rong Sinan. "None of the daughters from the Tang Family are good. Can’t you aim higher than focusing on them? There’s so many prestigious young ladies in Z City from noble families, look at them. Why insist on entangling with those two daughters from the Tang Family?"
"Mom, I’ve already explained to you, the incident years ago was planned by Tang Ruan, Yige is innocent. We all misunderstood her." Rong Sinan patiently explained, looking at Fang Jingyi.
"Innocent? How innocent can she be? Look at their Tang Family, father on drugs, mother a suicide threat, sister of poor character. Coming from such a family, how could Tang Yige be good?" Fang Jingyi scoffed.
"Yiyi is different from Tang Ruan," Rong Sinan frowned slightly, "They can’t be compared at all!"
Looking at Rong Sinan’s stubborn face, Fang Jingyi felt a fury rising within her chest, hard to suppress.
Closing her eyes, Fang Jingyi took a forceful breath twice before reopening them, looking sorrowfully at Rong Sinan, "Ah Nan, mother really doesn’t want you to be associated with the Tang Family anymore. Have they not hurt you enough?"
"Mom, if you truly care for your son, bless me and Yiyi," Rong Sinan said.
"How can mother bless you both? Huh? Ah Nan, go out and ask anyone, who doesn’t know Tang Yige? Her reputation was ruined in Z City five years ago. How could such a woman be worthy of you? How could she deserve to marry into our Rong Family? If you’re with her, you’re leaving yourself open to be ridiculed by those who mock our Rong Family, stabbing you in the back."
Fang Jingyi clutched her hands tightly, her heart aching.
"In time, truth will prevail! Yiyi isn’t that kind of person, time will clear her name. Besides, even if others’ perceptions of Yiyi can’t change, I don’t care. I love her. I must be with her for the rest of my life!"
Rong Sinan stared at Fang Jingyi with resolute eyes, his tone equally serious and earnest.
"No!" Fang Jingyi abruptly stood from the recliner, her eyes reddening as she looked at Rong Sinan, "You’ve already taken a fall due to the Tang Family, ruining your reputation. I won’t allow you to make the same mistake again!"
"Mom..."
"Ah Nan."
Fang Jingyi grasped Rong Sinan’s hand, gazing at him imploringly, "Trust mom, mom will never harm you. You’re mom’s most important person on this earth, and the one I worry about the most. All I ever think about is for you. Listen to mom just this once, and don’t be entangled with the Tang Family anymore, alright?"
Rong Sinan looked at Fang Jingyi’s reddened, beseeching eyes, lightly pressed his mouth, and softly said, "Mom, apart from me, Mochen is also your son."
"Mochen?"
Fang Jingyi’s smile turned desolate, her eyes reddening even more, "He no longer acknowledges me as his mother. In his eyes, I’m as good as dead. He now only cares about that woman. And what am I?"
That woman...
Rong Sinan stared at Fang Jingyi, "Mom, Momo is Mochen’s wife, your daughter-in-law. Plus, she’s about to give you your third grandson. Can you let go of your prejudice against her?"
"Prejudice?"
Fang Jingyi looked at Rong Sinan incredulously, "How could you think I’m prejudiced against her? Putting aside her initial intentions for being with Mochen, the fact that she sowed discord between me and Mochen, how should I regard her? Because of her, not only Mochen, even your grandfather wants to drive me out of the Rong Family. Sinan, as you defend that woman, can you spare a thought for your mother too? I’m now of a certain age, your father has been gone for many years, I’ve carried on alone for many years. How much of my bitterness and misery do you understand? Have you even cared for me?"
Rong Sinan reversed his grip on Fang Jingyi’s hand, his tone softened slightly, "I know it’s been hard for you alone these years."
Fang Jingyi became tearful, "Knowing then what? Both you and your brother blame me, resent me, for interfering too much in your lives. But why do I do it? It’s for your futures, is it for myself? Ah Nan, sometimes when I think of your brother Mochen, it chills my heart."
Rong Sinan tightened his brows.
"How could he be so heartless? Just saying he doesn’t acknowledge me anymore. Treating me like an enemy. Am I not ridiculous?" Fang Jingyi laughed in self-deprecation.
Rong Sinan looked at her, paused a moment, then said, "Mom, it’s getting late, you should rest, I’m leaving."
Over the years, he had tried countless ways to change Fang Jingyi’s preconceived notions, all to no avail.
For instance.
She firmly believed that it was Rong Mochen who mistreated her, was unfilial to her, never self-reflecting.
Or perhaps she realized that she had neglected Rong Mochen, sometimes being overly harsh.
But she would subconsciously feel that she was right to act this way, and consequently, Rong Mochen shouldn’t resent her.
Because she bore him, she is his mother.
Whatever she does, he should always respect and love her.
Not like now, ignoring her as if she didn’t exist.
Fang Jingyi’s mindset could be understood as emotionally blackmailing Rong Mochen.
Her stubbornness also manifested in her disapproval and bias against Jin Jumo.
Even though Jin Jumo had given birth to twins for the Rong Family, and was about to have the second child.
Her initial resentment against Jin Jumo remained unchanged.
Rong Sinan knew Fang Jingyi’s temperament too well.
No matter how he tried, her views wouldn’t change.
If it was useless to say anything to her, why waste words?
Upon hearing Rong Sinan say he was leaving, Fang Jingyi looked at him immediately, unwilling, muttering, "Leaving already?"
Seeing her like this, Rong Sinan felt a pang of reluctance, opening his arms to gently embrace Fang Jingyi, "I’ll visit you another day."
"Ah Nan, you’re now alone too. Why don’t you move in and live with mom? Huh?" Fang Jingyi held his arm, lifted her eyes, yearningly looking at him and said.
"I’m used to it," Rong Sinan said.
"Ah..."
"Take care of your health."
Rong Sinan interrupted Fang Jingyi, reached out to hold her hand briefly, turned, and walked out of the pavilion.
