Top Actress Beware: Also Reborn Is Your CEO Husband!
Chapter 979: What You Treasure May Not Be What Others Want
"Are you... still unwilling to forgive me?" Balthazar Shaw said painfully. "Aurelia, I know in matters regarding Clara Philips and Little Ru, I was harsh on you. But whether you are my biological daughter or not, I’ve always treated you as my daughter."
"Well, having a terrible father like you is really unfortunate for me." Aurelia chuckled lightly, "Is there anything else you want to say?"
Balthazar Shaw opened his mouth, "You’ve lost weight, haven’t been eating well recently...?"
"I will be taking my mom along with me." Aurelia interrupted Balthazar Shaw.
Balthazar Shaw was stunned for a moment, looking at Aurelia as if he wanted to say something. He hesitated, and swallowed back the words, saying softly, "It is I who have wronged Isabella Parker."
"Indeed, you have wronged her." Aurelia sneered coldly.
Whether her mother was pregnant with her before marrying Balthazar Shaw or not, Balthazar Shaw must have known of her existence.
Balthazar Shaw’s infidelity during the marriage is also a fact.
An unchangeable fact.
The harm caused to both her and her mother.
Seeing Balthazar Shaw having nothing more to say, Aurelia stood up, "The shares Clara Philips intended to secretly sell have been bought back by me, under my name. With the previous shares, I am now the largest shareholder of Shaw Clan Corporation."
Balthazar Shaw’s eyes widened in shock, "You..."
Aurelia’s expression remained unchanged, continuing, "But don’t worry, you will still be in charge of managing Shaw Clan Corporation and outwardly, you remain the largest shareholder."
"Actually, these are all yours." Balthazar Shaw said weakly.
"What you treasure, others may not desire." Aurelia mocked with a cold sneer, got up and left, as she walked away the voice floated back, "The day I leave, you don’t need to see me off."
The hand holding the door handle paused for a moment before saying, "Take good care of yourself."
Balthazar Shaw watched Aurelia disappear through the door, his lips moved, wanting to speak but in the end, he said nothing.
"Sigh." He sighed.
Some things left unsaid might be for the better.
...
Balthazar Shaw stayed cooped up in the hospital room for two days, came out for some fresh air.
Under the tree, a familiar figure sat in a wheelchair, behind stood a woman with a straight posture, with striking looks and a cold demeanor.
Balthazar Shaw first froze for a moment, then recalled Aurelia’s words about leaving.
Just as he was in deep thought, a woman’s cool voice suddenly broke the silence:
"Mr. Shaw, our boss invites you."
Balthazar Shaw looked up, it was the woman who was standing behind Mason Nightshade just a moment ago.
Balthazar Shaw came before Mason Nightshade.
Mason cast him a slight glance, his eyes proud and cold; this was the look he always gave him, never actually respecting him as a father-in-law. Balthazar Shaw understood why.
Mason only asked, "Is it just you?"
Balthazar Shaw nodded, hesitated for a moment, then asked, "About you and Aurelia, what happened?"
"She came to see you yesterday?" Mason didn’t answer his question.
"Yes, she did," Balthazar Shaw said, but he did not tell Mason about Aurelia’s planned departure, feeling instinctively that it shouldn’t be said.
"How... is she?" Mason hesitated in his words.
He didn’t know what kind of answer he was looking for.
Hearing she’s not well? Happy she’s not indifferent, yet he still felt sorry for her.
Hearing she’s fine? Then it’s probably him who’s not doing well.
Knowing clearly that neither answer would put his mind at ease, he still masochistically wanted to know.
