"To me, it’s very important." Mason Nightshade said softly. "And also, everything I said to you before, not a single word was a lie. I’m not saying this to explain away or excuse my past mistakes, I just want you to know, I didn’t deceive you. My loving you is real. That I’ve always loved you is also real. And when I said this life of mine belongs to you, that was real too."

"Don’t go." Mason Nightshade said quietly. "I promise I won’t come looking for you on my own, I promise I won’t bother you again, but don’t go somewhere so far away from me. Don’t be so far away from me, please, Aurelia?"

Mason Nightshade took Aurelia Shaw’s hand and placed something in her palm.

Aurelia lowered her head and glanced down. It turned out to be a diamond ring.
