“Also, you will be able to talk about this with your friends in the future, right? Look, when the rest of the people learn how small the Tan family’s daughter’s 18th birthday was, it will be a huge joke. Look at how many people we’ve invited to your birthday. It’s just proof that my daughter is way better than their daughter.” Mrs. Jiang smiled in a nasty way.

A wide grin immediately appeared on Jiang Yongyan’s face after hearing what her mother had said .

Jiang Jiamao returned not long after that. He had had the same idea as Jiang Siyong.

If the other family hadn’t been the Tan family, who were better than they were, Jiang Jiamao would’ve agreed with his son’s idea of making the whole hallway theirs.

However, since it was the Tan family who wanted to use the hallway, the father had no choice but to be humble about it as they would still encounter each other in business circles one way or another.

It wasn’t a good idea to become an enemy with the Tan family because of a minor incident.

“Still, since they only booked such a small hall, they can’t blame us for stealing all the spotlight,” Jiang Jiamao said to Jiang Yongyan. “It’s true that we were in the wrong for trying to make the hallway ours since it’s for public use, but what happens inside your hall is beyond their reach. As long as we make sure the party is huge and steal their spotlight, there’s nothing they can do about this.”

That managed to calm Jiang Yongyan down completely.

Jiang Jiamao then turned to his wife and said, “Why don’t you rest for a while here with Yongyan? I’ll head outside first. The guests will be arriving soon.”

“Okay.” Mrs. Jiang nodded.

Jiang Siyong and Jiang Jiamao returned to the hallway.

The moment they got there, they saw a group of people carrying boxes inside.

As they laid the boxes down and opened them, the father and son noticed the boxes contained stanchions.

The workmen started to place the stanchions around the hall that the Tan family had booked. They stopped before they got to the hall that the Jiang family had booked.

The Tan family had purposefully stopped them before the Jiang family’s area so that the latter could not accuse them of trespassing.

The only problem was that the door to the hallway from the outside opened in the middle, meaning that the Tan family had taken away more than half of the hallway.

Both Jiang Siyong and Jiang Jiamao were angry when they saw that.

“So that’s why the Tan family wanted the hotel to line the whole hallway with a red carpet,” Jiang Siyong complained. “So that they can show that they own the hallway without crossing the line.”

There was nothing the Jiang family could do about it.

They were completely surprised that the Tan family had actually thought up such a cheap trick.

However, it hadn’t been Tan Wenci’s idea at all. Even he was surprised to see that someone had actually ordered the stanchions.

The gold stanchions and the red carpet made it seemed like they were going to a movie awards ceremony.

“Who ordered these?” Tan Wenci asked with his brows raised.

“I did,” Tan Jinqi said. Even after pulling off such a cheap trick, he could still keep his calm as if nothing had happened.

“You prepared these beforehand?” Tan Wenci was shocked as they had agreed to hold the party without drawing a lot of attention.

He couldn’t help but scold his son for ordering gold stanchions when they’d wanted to keep a low profile.

“I didn’t,” Tan Jinqi shook his head and explained, “Weren’t we trying not to draw any attention? It’s just that I was completely disgusted by what the Jiang family tried to do. Even after you and Jiang Jiamao sorted things out, he still thinks there was nothing wrong with what his son was trying to do. He tried to change the subject throughout your whole conversation. Does he think we are that stupid? That we can’t notice what he’s trying to do?

Tan Jinqi paused for a second and then continued, “Well, the best course of action would be to end things peacefully. If everyone had been humble, then nothing would’ve happened. But since these people couldn’t do that, then don’t blame me for doing this. Today is a very important day for Mo Mo. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. There’s no way we are going to let a distasteful bunch of people affect her in a bad way.”

Yet, after all that explanation, that wasn’t what Tan Wenci wanted to know.

Even if his oldest son had decided to chase the Jiang family out of the hotel, he wouldn’t have cared at all

“No, what I want to know is where the h*ll did you get the stanchions? How did you get them on such short notice?” Tan Wenci asked.

“Dad, did you forget what my job is? I got to know some of the contractors who handled the awards ceremonies. I just simply contacted one of them and asked them to get us these stanchions,” Tan Jinqi explained nonchalantly.

Tan Wenci didn’t know how to respond to his son.

Since when are you such a snob?

On the other hand, Jiang Siyong was completely furious. He pointed at the stanchions and yelled, “What the hell are they doing? Do they think this is an awards ceremony or something? Dad! What if our guests go to the wrong hall because of this?”

“Come on. Let’s go ask them,” Jiang Jiamao suggested.

Jiang Siyong followed his father to talk with Tan Wenci and his son.

“Mr. Jiang? Is there anything you want?” Tan Wenci asked with a smile as he saw the Jiang father and son approaching him. He pretended to be completely innocent.

“Mr. Tan, these stanchions… Aren’t they a little close to my hall?” Jiang Jiamao asked as he forced a smile onto his face.

“Really? I don’t think so,” Tan Wenci replied with a confused expression. “We made sure they wouldn’t block your entrance, or else we would’ve moved them even further away. You still have a straight line from the door to your hall.”

Jiang Siyong went bananas after hearing that.

It was true that the stanchions did not block the entrance to their hall, but it was clear that the Tan family was trying to stand out more than them.

“But isn’t it a little too much on our side?” Jiang Jiamao argued.

Outside the door, Wei Zhiqian finally walked out of the shadows and said, “Come on, it’s our turn.”

Those were the words that Qin Muye had been waiting for.

Qin Muye glared at him and scolded him to herself. Hah! What a shameless dude!

She decided to ignore Wei Zhiqian from now on and pulled Ming Yeqing to walk with her.

Since Qin Mufeng wasn’t around, she believed it was okay to show a bit of an intimate relationship with Ming Yeqing.

Wei Zhiqian looked at them from behind and smiled.

“Mr. Tan, Brother Jinqi!” Qin Muye greeted them as she approached the Tan family.

Since Tan Jinyi and Tan Jinsheng were still managing something in the hall, only Tan Wenci and Tan Jinqi were outside arguing with the Jiang family.

“Mo Mo is probably changing and getting her makeup done now. I think I’ll just stay here. Muye, why don’t you head over?” Ming Yeqing smiled and replied in a gentle, humble tone.
