Chapter 34: Gacha Spree : Part 2 (7 String Guqin)

William mumbled out his request for eleven Common gacha draws in whatever garbled nonsense his swollen lips could manage, and 110 cards appeared in front of him, taking nearly all the space in the hut. He slid off the bed, standing face-to-face like a child in front of a candy store.

Almost half the cards seemed to scream, giving him that same weird gut feeling like in previous gachas. No time to overthink, he picked them up one by one at random and stacked them into a thin deck until he had all eleven.

Done with the selection, all remaining cards vanished. He flopped back onto the bed, holding his prize deck like he was about to play gacha UNO. The grin on his face was of pure greed, like a beggar experiencing a billionaire’s Christmas.

With his hand trembling with excitement, he grabbed the top three cards and flipped them all at once. Rollie chimed in, revealing the rewards and their description.

William’s eyes scanned the item descriptions one by one. The first was a rare artifact, something that would save his ass from whatever juju came at him. The second was the same token Cent came from; whoever he summons with it would be tier one (high). That was a win-win: a stronger troop and a plus one toward core upgrade requirements.

It was the last card that really piqued his interest: a mana rifle. A grin crept across his face as he imagined all the ways he could use it in tower games and trials.

The prize pool for common draws ranged from common to rare grade. Epic grade loot was also possible, but Rollie had specifically used ’exponentially rare’ while telling him about the chance of epic appearance.

William wasn’t expecting any Epic, even with his luck currently at peak. He was more than happy with the uncommons and rares. Honestly, he only wanted one thing: some kind of energy, mana, Qi, anything. What is even the point of all this stuff? Almost all these rewards need it. With that thought, he picked three more cards from the top and flipped them, muttering a prayer for the streak to keep going.

[Congratulations! You’ve won: Blood Berserk Pill (Spirit)]

[Congratulations! You’ve won: Royal Star Antelope (Earth)]

Bloodline: Royal Star Antelope (Earth)

[A/N]: I will show the ability of the racial traits later, when the bloodline is used.

William rifled through the latest rewards. This time, two were from the cultivation side of the universe. First was a pill with an effect like Red Bloom but way stronger: a straight-up 3x strength boost, but the weakness aftereffect was also cranked up. The second was a bloodline. He still had PTSD from that damn Grubkin bloodline that burned his taste buds; anything he ate for the next two days tasted like noodles without seasoning, and he hadn’t even gotten to use its trait yet. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

But this Royal Star Antelope bloodline actually looked promising. Rollie didn’t show the details, but just from the trait names, they sounded dope. William wanted to check them out, but time was ticking; barely three minutes were left.

The last reward was a skill made for Cent. He had been grinding climbers with only one spear skill. With this, he could have a second and ranged one at that. Of course, he’d first need to pump up his mana stats. At least the guy actually had mana to work with.

The excitement on William’s face started to fade; there was still no fucking energy. Five cards left. He picked up another three and flipped them with pleading eyes fixed on them.

[Congratulations! You’ve won: A Rank Troop Token (Uncommon)]

Troop: A Rank Token (Uncommon)

[Congratulations! You’ve won: Safe Zone (Rare)]

Blueprint: Safe Zone (Rare)

Effect: A classic safe zone floor, built for climbers to rest before continuing on their journey to the upper floor. A village covering 20,000 m^2 that can house a population of 500, which can be increased later.

Requirements: 4 floors, 30,000 Stone, 50,000 Wood, and 700TP.

William looked over the haul. First up, another troop token, this time A rank. No complaints; he’d take as many tossed his way. The next was a skill, and a damn good one, better than Chasing Arc in his eyes, but it was useless for him or his troops for now.

Last was the classic resting place for climbers, and it was a big one, 20,000 km^2. Perfect for the future, when his troop number grows, they could live there. He didn’t want his new home to be crowded.

Still no mana, no Qi; he was getting desperate. Like, really fucking desperate. At this point, if electricity showed up as an energy, he’d shoot up to the ceiling.

Only two cards left. He’d saved these for last because they practically glowed in his eyes, hanging in the air compared to the rest of the lot. Whatever was in these was going to be a jaw-dropper; he just knew it. William looked up and prayed internally, ’Please, Lady Luck, spray some of your luck juice here. Don’t make me regret sucking your lolly.’ Then he flipped the last two cards.

William froze at the descriptions floating in front of him. He’d braced for something big in the last two cards, but this? He hadn’t expected this. First, the Mana Awakening Potion; it was like goddess inner petals; always out of sight, no matter how see-through their damn dresses were.

William had forgotten that he’d gotten the potion; his attention was on the second reward. Rollie’s exponentially rare, Heaven-grade prize. But it wasn’t just the grade that floored him; it was the Guqin itself. A badass musical weapon, the kind you barely saw in Chinese novels or manhua. First, lullaby your enemies with the tune, then kill them on the next note.

Yes, it should have been a dramatic celebration, but William was just... blank because of the shock. He stared at the descriptions for five seconds, then ten, then even longer, totally spaced out. It took Rollie chiming in to snap him out of his stupor.

[Stop daydreaming, dear~ You can’t even use it at your current level. You don’t even have Qi to start with. The time is running up, only 1 minute 30 seconds left.]

Rollie’s reminder yanked him back to reality. "Shit, I almost fucked up." He glanced at the rewards, especially the potion, with a grin. "I’ll celebrate later. Right now, Santa’s got more gifts for me. Rollie, roll five rare draws."

[A/N]: The attribute requirements like QI greater than 50 are an easy way I added to tell when the next stage of a cultivation is reached. I have also updated them in the auxiliary Chapter.

Mmm! I think the quality of the writing is going down. (This is what I am thinking.) Previously, I took two days to make an outline, script, draft, and proofread a single Chapter, then uploaded it. Now I do all this every day to provide regular updates. Maybe I am whining, I am still inexperienced. Please tell me if the Chapter is worth the price you are paying for it. I will slow down and put more time into each Chapter if not.
