Chapter 307: Chapter 307: Registration

March 8th, Ding Anmin and Feng Lishu have to report in. They’re going to different universities, Industrial University and Jing City Normal College, which are in opposite directions, so the family has to split up. Several children will be watched over by Ding Weihuo, Li Hongying, and Mrs. Huang.

Ding Anmin and Xia Xingchen are at the same school, accompanied by Huang Xiaobao and Gu Shizhao, with Xu Ancheng leading the way. Meanwhile, Feng Lishu is accompanied by Ding Anguo and Yi Roujing.

Yi Roujing and the other two took the bus. After recognizing the route, it’d be convenient for Feng Lishu to travel back and forth, especially since she wouldn’t be staying on campus and didn’t need to carry much. Ding Anguo carried a bundle for them.

After sitting on the bus for half an hour, they got off at the Jing City Normal College stop. The crimson gate stood majestically, and Feng Lishu felt somewhat excited.

Inside the gate, long wooden tables and benches were lined up on either side, with signs of each major displayed on the tables. Yi Roujing immediately spotted the sign for the Chinese Department on the first table to the left.

"Hello, are you new students of the Chinese Department?" A woman in her thirties or forties with neat short hair, wearing a navy woolen coat, stood up and warmly inquired as she looked at Yi Roujing and the others.

"Hello, I am. Here is my admission letter." Feng Lishu couldn’t help but stand straight and handed over her admission notice.

"Comrade Feng Lishu, welcome to the 77th cohort of the Chinese Department at Jing City Normal College." The woman smiled and shook hands with Feng Lishu, "I’m Rong Manqin, your counselor."

"Hello, Ms. Rong," Feng Lishu respectfully greeted.

"And these two?" Rong Manqin looked at Ding Anguo and Yi Roujing, who also seemed like students.

"This is my husband, and this is my sister-in-law. They’re students at another school and will report in a couple of days. They came especially to accompany me today." Feng Lishu explained.

Following that, they completed the reporting procedures. However, when discussing the dormitory, Feng Lishu explained her situation, mentioning she would typically live at home and might only need to stay a night or two during severe weather. She wasn’t sure if there would be a place to rest when needed.

Upon hearing this, Rong Manqin immediately arranged for Feng Lishu to get a dormitory bed, which was freely provided to all students. Since this was the new batch after resuming the college entrance exams, the school indeed had dormitories available for every student.

If choosing to live outside, all that was needed was to sign a commitment form.

Feng Lishu also received her first month’s state subsidy of eighteen yuan and fifty cents, along with food stamps.

The dormitory was a tube-shaped building with three floors. Feng Lishu was assigned a spot on the second floor in the middle. Each dorm room had four bunk beds, housing eight people. Beds were on either side, with tables and chairs in the center for students to read and do assignments.

Feng Lishu was the last to arrive; the other seven were already there. After greeting each other, Ding Anguo went to fetch water and clean the bed. Feng Lishu’s bed was the remaining one, the upper bunk on the left inside.

No bedding was brought today, and after asking around, it was clear people typically lived at home.

Feng Lishu took out snacks and candies she had brought to share with the dorm mates, slightly deepening the simple dorm camaraderie among them.

Feng Lishu was drawn into conversation, while Yi Roujing sat aside listening, and Ding Anguo busied himself in and out.

"Lishu, your husband is really nice."

"Lishu, how long have you been married? Do you have any children? What does your husband do..."

Feng Lishu and Yi Roujing were dressed fashionably, with fair skin, clearly not having done much farm work, and Ding Anguo was handsome and efficient, arousing great curiosity.

Upon learning that Ding Anguo was a freshman at Qing University, the way they looked at Feng Lishu changed, with open envy.

After settling the bed and receiving the textbooks, the three of them left, as classes would officially start the next day.

Ding Xingye was to report in on March 9th, accompanied by Xu Ancheng. After completing the procedures, Ding Xingye began his university accommodation, agreeing to visit the courtyard house on weekends.

Yi Roujing, Ding Anguo, and Huang Xiaobao started school on the same day.

With Xu Ancheng, a Jing University graduate and mathematics teacher, leading the way, things went well, yet Ding Anmin insisted on following along with Yi Roujing.

She could visit Huang Xiaobao’s place anytime later, but Xu Ancheng, a man, wouldn’t clean thoroughly, so she had to go together for assurance.

With the experience from the previous report, Yi Roujing carried the bedding this time.

Despite Xu Ancheng’s protests, he couldn’t change her mind. He had a staff dormitory, one room per person, so even if Yi Roujing wanted to stay, she could go there. However, given the different faculties, Yi Roujing still thought about getting a bed for herself.

Considering Xu Ancheng’s notable presence in the Jing University Mathematics Department, she preferred to keep a low profile.

The counselor welcoming new students in the Jing University Medical Department looked enviously at so many girls heading to various departments.

Most reporting for the medical department were males, with very few females. In this cohort, his class in the clinical medicine program had sixty-four students but only eight girls, none of whom had reported yet.

"Hello, teacher, I’m a freshman in the 77th cohort, studying clinical medicine, my name is Gong Jue’e."

A sudden tall shadow loomed over the sitting counselor, Li Hongwei. A resonant voice made him stand up enthusiastically, shaking hands with Gong Jue’e and welcoming her. She had arrived, the female student in their class had come.

Yi Roujing was also drawn by Gong Jue’e’s voice, causing her to pause and turn around, not noticing the person behind until her neck was bumped. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Yi Roujing quickly stepped forward and turned back, only to see a girl about 160 cm tall, wearing a floral cotton jacket, twin pigtails, and eyes like a fawn’s, looking misty.

"Xuejuan, are you alright?" A tall, burly man in green military attire approached the girl with soft concern, carrying luggage.

"Sorry," Yi Roujing quickly apologized. She had been distracted, causing someone behind to bump their nose.

"Jing (sister-in-law)," Xu Ancheng and Ding Anmin turned back, both approaching her.

"I’m fine." The bumped girl rubbed her nose with her right hand a few times. Hearing Yi Roujing’s apology, she quickly put her hand down and waved it, her nose a bit red, but nothing serious.

Xu Ancheng came up behind Yi Roujing to check her neck, noticing a round red spot on her fair neck.

He looked toward the girl, frowned slightly upon seeing her appearance, while the man quickly used his height to block his view, thinking his wife was being stared at by a stranger.

Xu Ancheng raised his eyebrows slightly, a misunderstanding occurred. Helping Yi Roujing apologize, he refrained from looking at the girl again.

Both sides showed excellent demeanor, and the small incident passed quickly. After they left, Xu Ancheng touched the back of Yi Roujing’s neck, "Does it hurt?"

"Not at all," Yi Roujing replied with amusement. "It’s nothing compared to hitting a nose. I zoned out and got the girl involved."
