Chapter 350: Chapter 350: Disciplinary Action

The grading time was fast. The teachers who set the exams were from Jing University, all of whom were outstanding in their fields. Upon seeing Yi Roujing’s neat and tidy answer sheets, written with impressive handwriting, the graders had a very good first impression of her.

Upon reviewing the questions, they consistently scored her answers as correct. She achieved full marks in science, chemistry, and mathematics, lost eight points in Chinese and two in politics, with a total score of three hundred and ninety.

Principal Cheng sighed inwardly when he received the exam papers, thinking what a talent she was.

Vice Principal Chen and Vice Principal Hu also reviewed the papers, with Vice Principal Chen showing a completely different attitude from before.

"Oh, the way these questions were answered is almost perfect, truly talented," Vice Principal Chen praised without reservation.

Principal Cheng and the others were impressed, so they showed the papers to Director Geng, Li Hongwei, and some other students as well.

Yi Roujing completed the exam under their watchful eyes, making cheating impossible. Her ability was genuine, with no falsification.

"I apologize to you, Yi Roujing," the students who had held banners immediately rolled them up, their faces flushed as they began to apologize. "We shouldn’t have so readily believed others’ words and spoken such slanderous things to an innocent student."

The students all bowed at ninety degrees, apologizing with sincerity. Yi Roujing waved her hand dismissively, "It’s okay, it’s okay. Reasonable suspicion is understandable. It was my fault for being careless before. You are all good comrades who refuse to tolerate injustice. I can understand that. It’s not your fault; it’s the one who first spread the rumors."

Upon hearing this, everyone present looked at Zhang Mengdi. The look of fear and helplessness showed on Zhang Mengdi’s face as she stammered, "I only had reasonable doubt after seeing Yi Roujing’s past performance."

"Oh, were you not?" Yi Roujing interjected. "You filed a report, which is quite different from a suspicion. You were certain of my wrongdoing, which led you to make banners and signs, fearing that others wouldn’t see them. Your intentions were vile."

"If today I were fragile, unable to endure grievances, and had sought death to prove my innocence, you would have been responsible for a vibrant life lost."

Yi Roujing’s words made Li Hongwei twitch involuntarily at the corners of his mouth. The things this student said so casually were indeed terrifying. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"How important is a person’s reputation? In the past, how many were persecuted for accusations? Countless. Yet now, some still repeat these already corrected mistakes. What is your intention? Is it dissatisfaction or denial of the leaders’ decisions?" Yi Roujing smiled as she looked at Zhang Mengdi, but her words felt as sharp as knives.

Zhang Mengdi’s face turned pale. "I’m not... I just didn’t want the school or classmates to be deceived. I..."

"Just tell us who gave you my middle school exam scores. I didn’t know you before university, so how do you know about my past performances?" Yi Roujing questioned directly.

"Someone sent it to me through mail," Zhang Mengdi suddenly seemed to realize something, "I was used by someone else."

"Where is the letter?" Yi Roujing reached out her hand.

"I burned it," Zhang Mengdi replied in a low voice.

"Oh, so you just made all this up. It was actually your doing, and you’ll bear full responsibility," Yi Roujing replied.

"I didn’t lie," Zhang Mengdi retorted.

"I don’t care. You have no evidence, just like when you slandered me with only your words, without a shred of proof. I don’t care if it’s true or false. I think it’s unnecessary for people like you to remain at Jing University."

"What if you find others displeasing and falsely accuse them? Today I am smart and strong, but what if next time you encounter someone fragile? What then? The school must take precautions, wouldn’t you agree, Principal Cheng?"

"I think Yi Roujing has considered this thoroughly," Vice Principal Hu smiled in agreement. "In all the years of Jing University’s history, such a blatant false accusation among students is unprecedented. I believe this deserves serious attention, Principal Cheng—sometimes, making an example is necessary."

Zhang Mengdi’s face was now completely white.

"Every student strives to study here; getting into Jing University means being the cream of the crop. To lose any student over an unfounded matter would indeed be a pity," Principal Cheng said gravely. "We have always believed in Yi Roujing’s character, which is why we called her in for a conversation to have her prove her innocence."

"After experiencing difficult times, we know the pain of being falsely accused. Our school must prevent such incidents from happening again. This time, Zhang Mengdi’s actions were very wrong. The school will take disciplinary action against her to make her reflect deeply. If she repeats the offense, Jing University will no longer welcome such students," Principal Cheng said decisively, directing his piercing gaze at Zhang Mengdi.

Zhang Mengdi knew this was the best possible outcome and nodded repeatedly, "Principal Cheng, all leaders and teachers, I will not make such a mistake again. I promise to reflect deeply. I hope Yi Roujing can forgive me."

"Forgiveness is impossible," Yi Roujing sneered. "I am not that magnanimous. I simply agree with the school’s decision and hope that you will not harm others again in the future."

"And that’s how the matter has been resolved. As for Yi Roujing’s kindness and bravery, it is something all faculty and students should emulate. The school will award Yi Roujing for her actions," Principal Cheng stated, "I don’t want to hear a whisper about today’s events outside this office."

"Regarding our meeting with Yi Roujing, it was purely for commendation; whereas with Zhang Mengdi, it was for disrupting school order, spreading rumors, and misguiding students, which negatively affected the school. Zhang Mengdi will receive a severe warning."

Principal Cheng clarified everything and was the first to leave the office of the Academic Affairs.

"Yi Roujing, you’ve endured grievances," Vice Principal Hu affectionately looked at Yi Roujing. "Whenever you have time, come visit us at home. I’ve heard a lot about you from Heping, but this is my first time meeting you."

"Okay," Yi Roujing smiled, feeling grateful for Vice Principal Hu’s support.

"It’s surprising to see Vice Principal Hu being so gentle with someone," Director Geng said with a smile after the leaders had left. "Vice Principal Hu of Jing University is famously stern and impartial. For him to value someone, they must be an excellent student."

"Yi Roujing, your helpful actions will be well rewarded by our Medical Department. We apologize for the inconvenience this situation caused you," Director Geng said.

"If you ever have any problems, feel free to reach out to our department. We will do our utmost to assist you," Director Geng assured her.

Once the teachers had left, Director Li allowed Yi Roujing and the other students to leave as well.
