Chapter 352: Unexpected Surprise ( 3 )

The moment Yao Zhi saw Gu Muyang and Gu Langren approaching, she greeted them with a smile. "Good morning, Brother Wushan, Brother Daniu."

She had promised Xi Yi to make sure that her brother-in-law wouldn’t starve to death. So, she went to the kitchen and brought out a bowl of millet porridge and two steamed buns for each of them.

She placed the tray on the table outside the kitchen and said, "Both of you, have something to eat first. Only with a full stomach will you have the strength to work."

Before Gu Muyang could refuse, she had already returned to the kitchen. Not long after, Xi Si came over. She looked at the strangers for a moment before going inside.

Gu Muyang was stunned when he saw his niece. Although her features had changed, he caught sight of the birthmark behind her ear and realized that the people he had been searching for were so close.

Before she had been locked inside Hongyun Tower, he had seen her once. She had been weak and sickly, so thin that he feared her bones would snap with the slightest force. Now, she no longer looked the same.

If not for the mask given by Fu Chen’an, he would never have thought that his sister-in-law and niece might have changed their identities using such disguises.

"Mother, can you make a steamed egg for me?"

Hearing his niece’s voice from the kitchen, Gu Muyang turned and looked at the woman inside. He stared at her familiar back and smiled.

"Brother, I found them," he thought inwardly.

He thought there would be no more surprises until Xi Qi ran over, shouting, "Mother, Xiao Qi also wants steamed egg!"

This time, Gu Muyang’s breath caught in his throat. He had believed that all the male descendants of the Gu family, aside from himself, had been killed. Unexpectedly, his brother’s only son had survived.

He had to clench his fists tightly to stop himself from rushing forward and hugging the boy. He watched him enter the kitchen before finally letting out the breath he hadn’t realized he was holding.

Gu Langren was just as shocked. It took him a while to regain his composure before saying in a low voice, "Heir, that boy..."

Gu Muyang nodded and whispered, "That’s my nephew, Ah Yan."

He was certain because the boy had called his niece "Sister" and his sister-in-law "Mother."

At this moment, he felt grateful to Fu Chen’an for protecting his family. He made up his mind not to involve them in his revenge. Therefore, he could not acknowledge them.

"Let’s eat first. We still have work to do later," he said as he sat on the low stool.

Gu Langren nodded and ate the warm meal in silence.

In the blink of an eye, one week had passed. Today was the day Fu Chen’an returned to the barracks after his long vacation.

At 3 o’clock, Yao Zhi had already woken up and prepared things for her husband. Now that her husband already knew about her System, she no longer needed to hold back.

She not only prepared fruit chips for him, but also gave him a lot of snacks and dried food such as jerky, roasted nuts, energy drinks, chocolate, and ready-to-eat meals.

She spent a total of 100,000 points buying food and drinks for her husband from the System Shop.

When she was done, she went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. Today, she planned to make Chinese meat pies, known as Xian Bing.

The dough had been prepared the night before using the dough machine inside the Shared Manor. Today, she only needed to add the filling and bake them.

While she was working in the kitchen, Fu Chen’an woke up. Feeling that the spot beside him had turned cold, he knew that his wife must have woken up early to cook for him.

Although he was grateful for his wife’s care, he also felt heartache and distress. He didn’t want her to tire herself out for him.

After he changed his clothes and packed his belongings, he went to the backyard. He washed up and brushed his teeth before heading to the kitchen to find his wife.

The fragrance of the food already filled the air. As he took a breath, his stomach growled.

Hearing this, Yao Zhi turned around and smiled. "Husband, good morning."

Fu Chen’an walked over and gave his wife a kiss on her cheek as he hummed in reply.

Yao Zhi felt ticklish from his newly grown beard and said, "I made meat pancakes and warm soy milk. Go eat something first."

Although he was reluctant to let his wife go, Fu Chen’an still nodded and got some food. He placed a stool not far from his wife and watched her work while he ate.

At dawn, Yao Zhi had already finished cooking and said in a low voice, "Husband, I put the food I prepared for you in the Shared Manor. You should put them in your spatial bag first."

Fu Chen’an nodded and said, "Wife, if you need anything, just leave a note for me there."

"I will. If you need anything, leave a note for me, too."

"Okay," he agreed readily. Now, he had learned more words and was able to write a letter to his wife.

When Xi Yi and the Ling Squad woke up, Fu Chen’an had already packed his belongings and was saying goodbye to his wife.

Yao Zhi stood at the gate for a long time until she could no longer see her husband’s back before returning to the backyard.

Since she had finished breakfast, she took her donkey out from the shed and led it outside. "Xiao Lu, let’s take a stroll today," she said while rubbing her donkey’s neck.

Xiao Lu let out a snort and stood still while she put on the saddle.

Today, she planned to check on the servants she had bought earlier. They didn’t join the workers to build the outhouses and bathhouses. Instead, she had told them to gather materials from the piles and build their own houses on the farmland.
