Trapped as a NPC in a NTR game with cheats

Chapter 56: Sister

Sister

The wiki flagged her before I noticed her.

Strange. The UI always waited for me to have visual contact — thirty, forty feet out — before it generated tags. But she came through on a passive alert when I was still traversing the market district on the eastside stall end, an alert that resolved to a complete tag before I even knew where it came from.

NEW CHARACTER DETECTED

Name: UNKNOWN

Role: UNCLASSIFIED

Origin: Game-native — confirmed

Corruption meter: 0/100

Relationship / Kai: 0

Active flags: NONE

Note: Proximity alert — known NPC connection / classification incomplete

Known NPC connection. I stopped moving.

The wiki was generating. I could see it go as it always does for post-canon entries — the data gathering and correlating from event observations before extrapolating what it knows. It reached forty percent and paused, indicating it had enough data for me to know some things, but not yet enough to know everything.

I saw her at sixty feet out.

She stood off to one side near the central thoroughfare of the market, exhibiting that same sort of stillness that indicated someone fresh to an area and evaluating their surroundings before picking out a path. Long dark hair — not Mira’s more practical style, but longer, pulled up on one side of her head. She was similar in build to Lyra, and was surveying the people around her intently as though she were searching for someone in particular.

The UI name tag popped into full detail from fifty feet.

NEW CHARACTER — PARTIAL CLASSIFICATION

Name: ESTA

Role: Civilian — visitor classification

Origin: Game-native

Corruption meter: 0/100

Relationship / Kai: 0

Relationship / Vorn: 847 — sibling bond, pre-existing

Active flags: NONE

Wiki status: GENERATING — 43%

Eight hundred and forty seven.

I stared at that figure for a few seconds. The highest reading Daren had managed to register between himself and Vorn in terms of relationship meters was one forty seven. And Esta was sitting at almost six times that figure without even trying; she already had the pre-existing family relation built into the game before anything else could happen.

She was still searching through the crowd. Still couldn’t find what she was looking for.

I already knew she wouldn’t have an easy time finding him. Vorn was, at the moment, self-determining. That is to say, there weren’t any flags up that would indicate either his location or activity within the city. There weren’t any indicators of his whereabouts on my UI, meaning I couldn’t trace his path or follow his activities within the game. Vorn wasn’t in a predetermined area. Vorn was somewhere in Ashveil doing whatever a man does when the game doesn’t have objectives for him anymore.

Esta had come looking for her brother and, for now, her brother wasn’t easily locatable.

I watched her for thirty more seconds. She seemed competent in her own right, moving through the crowd confidently — not lost, not confused, just efficient. She looked at the entrance to the guild hall and ruled it out, moved towards the inn quarter. Logical enough. When searching a new city, start where the people are.

The wiki reached sixty-one percent.

ESTA — PARTIAL WIKI

Game-native — birth city: not Ashveil / transit log: recent arrival, arrived two days ago

Background: not an adventurer; not part of any guild / no combat ranks earned

Canonically established role in story arc: NONE — post-canon character, no script

Reason for presence in world: Vorn — concerned sibling flag set, based off post-canon event information

Personal details: GENERATING

Corruption score is zero — no previous exposure to corruption mechanics / completely untainted

Post-canon character. She did not exist in the original Shattered Vows Online, because in the canon, Vorn had run his flags to exhaustion and left, and no one had ever set his stop flag, so there was no reason for the game to have created another character to see if he was okay.

She came into existence because I had chatted with Vorn on a bench.

This intrigued me in a way I had no way to articulate yet.

She’d evolved into the inn district. I tracked her from a safe distance — not stalking her operationally, but maintaining visual range while the wiki generated its info. Passive monitoring engaged. Corruption meter stable at zero. Relationship with Kai zero — she had no clue I existed.

She lingered at the entrance of the Broken Crown, read the notices posted on the wall, then entered.

After forty seconds, I followed her in.

Sena clocked me with her peculiar look reserved for the moments when she had already made her decision about something but needed me to play along and figure things out for myself. She cocked her head in the direction of the bar’s far end. I looked. There was Esta, talking to the assistant working for Sena, inquiring after a certain guest — judging by the look of things. The assistant nodded at the ledger while shaking her head — not a resident of the place now.

Esta accepted that piece of information with a calmness that suggested she had expected that her quest would require more than one inn.

I sat down at the end of the bar. Sena poured me a cup.

"She visited two other places," Sena said, without raising her voice but also without lowering it.

"How did you know?"

Sena gave me an odd glance.

Well, right. I emptied my cup.

Esta turned away from the assistant and automatically scanned the room around her, doing the same sort of cataloging she had in the market. She logged me out at the bar in the exact way that you log a person you don’t know in any room: clocked as present, moved on. Nothing recognized, nothing marked. No connection, no context, no relationship — just a presence at a bar.

The wiki was now seventy-eight percent complete.

ESTA — UPDATED ENTRY

Personality Profile: PARTIAL

— Direct; not aggressive — careful thinker who thinks through what she’s going to say.

— Not someone with worries in nature — sibling concern flag is situational, not a natural one.

— Observational register; pays attention to detail; knows when to look around.

— Competent traveler; able to navigate herself to an unfamiliar place within two days and has an established method of operation.

— Relationship with Vorn: protective baseline but no blindness — full picture not clear

Note: Not corrupted in the background — no previous experience with corruption — meter is zero

Direct. Observational. Competent. Not really a worrier but here anyway, which meant something about this trip must have worried her.

Vorn in a seat, telling me his history in shapes, the target before Ashveil, the woman he had answered, the flags put up on suspension on his account. I remembered Vorn in Sera’s stall making himself smaller and then leaving the market altogether. I remembered Vorn in a self-determined state in which the game had no mechanics.

His sister had made a journey to locate him since something in the post-trigger state had resonated between the two of them over whatever distance, and decided it met the threshold she set.

A lot of relationship meter had gone into that without her doing much of anything.

Esta finished the room inspection and left. I looked at her as she left the place. Her corruption meter cycled as soon as she was at the door — zero again, no mechanics.

I had not established contact with her. I had not attempted to make the counter-establishment contact. I had not attempted any mechanics. I just sat there in the bar and observed.

The wiki was up to eighty-four percent.

I sat with my cup, considering the differences between my work and Vorn’s, and the neatness of that distinction both from within and out, and the fact that the corruption meter on Esta was currently standing at zero while I had registered that the instant she walked into the room.

I considered Mira’s sustainability issue, for which I still had yet to form an answer that satisfied me completely.

I put down my cup.

Sena picked it up without a word.

"She’ll return," Sena stated matter-of-factly.

I did not ask how she knew; it was becoming clear to me that this was the kind of information Sena just possessed.

In the background, the noise from the market was continuing. The wiki stood at eighty-four percent and continued to generate, sourcing data from the outside world to flesh out Esta’s profile in much the same way as it built all post-canon entities these days — not out of some preexisting script, but a real live person.

Zero corruption. Eight hundred and forty-seven with Vorn. No script, no role, nothing that could be called canonical.

She was here to look for her brother.

I was going to have to find him first.

VORN — STATUS

All flags: SUSPENDED

Post-trigger status: SELF-DETERMINING

Current location: UNKNOWN

Threat assessment: INACTIVE

Note: Sibling arrival recorded — Esta / game-native / two days in city / no contact established

The game had already logged it. Not correcting, not scripting — just watching and writing it down.

I left the Crown and walked to a canal bench.
