Treasure Hunting System: The Ocean Conquerer
Chapter 980 - 408: Resurrection Town_3
Watching this scene, Bernard shook his head helplessly and said to Alka, "Don’t mind it, friend. Every race has people who aren’t very bright. If you don’t mind, come with us."
Saying this, a few undead bypassed Baggett, treating him like air, and led Alka and the others upward.
In a place from where the port could be seen, there were some areas paved with tiles.
Although there were signs of maintenance, it was indeed already in disrepair.
There were over a dozen steps leading to the top, followed by a slightly winding path.
It stretched all the way upward to a higher path.
Watching the departing group, Baggett shrugged helplessly and limped after them.
Crossing the path and stairs, Akka and the others reached the top. Soon they saw a small town situated not far from where they could see.
Because a faint mist still lingered around, the place looked somewhat gloomy even during the day, with some lights still burning in the village.
Stone houses stood here and there, various buildings scattered across the island.
It was apparent that the island was somewhat rundown, with sparse vegetation, only exposing the island’s soil and some rocks.
However, scattered here and there were some patches of gray-black woods and shrubs.
Which only added more eeriness to the island.
"This is Resurrection Town, the only town on this island. Our people all live here," Bernard said, leading the group over.
As they passed a path, a large hole suddenly appeared in the soil beside them, and a hand stretched out from the soil.
"Who’s out there? Is it Bernard? Give me a hand, I can’t get out," a somewhat youthful voice came from within the soil, sounding a bit muffled.
Before Bernard could go over, Baggett limped over from behind.
"You foolish brat, let your uncle pull you out."
"Is it Baggett? How did you come back?" The voice from the soil sounded a bit surprised.
Then Baggett grabbed the hand bone and pulled hard.
A large section of soil began to loosen.
Then with a snap, Baggett fell to the ground, still holding a moving hand bone in his hands.
"Hey! You pulled my hand off!"
"Sorry, sorry, kid. Never mind, I’ll just dig you out," Baggett said, as he clawed at the soil in front of everyone.
The soil immediately scattered to the side, and Alka, watching this scene, narrowed his eyes slightly, sensing the presence of a treasure.
He had just been wondering why, facing his attack, this pirate didn’t use the treasure. So the treasure’s ability must be to control soil or manipulate the earth in some way?
Having such a treasure yet choosing to be a pirate at sea, one must say, is somewhat abstract.
The soil scattered aside with the force, and a skeleton crawled out from the soil.
"Thanks," said the skeleton, shaking off the dirt from its body. A large amount of soil slid down from the seams of its dry bones.
Some soil even ended up in its pant legs.
"Aren’t you going to take your pants off?" Baggett said.
The skeleton, whose voice seemed rather young, looked at Akka and the others and surprisingly showed an embarrassed expression.
"Uh, there are people here."
For a moment, Akka and the others didn’t know what expression to make.
Can a skeleton have anything to expose?
Baggett slapped him on the head, nearly knocking his skull off its neck.
"Wake up! You’re not normal anymore!"
"Alright," the youthful voice responded, a bit sullenly.
Bernard also led Alka and the others inside.
Some skeletal residents were scattered along the path, some chatting away. Others were just staring blankly at the sky.
Seeing Alka and the others as normal people, these skeletons bore their hollow eye sockets, yet through these empty eye sockets, one could clearly feel their curious emotions through the ethereal soul fire, which was a very peculiar feeling.
"This is indeed a strange island," Chadite said beside them.
Along the way, Julia had been squinting her eyes slightly, frowning, as she continuously observed the surrounding environment for changes.
As they passed the path, a large area of buildings began to appear.
Spiritual bodies floated around in mid-air, and skeletal corpses walked freely on the streets.
This was a small town inhabited by undead creatures.
It was a sight Alka and the others had never seen before, just standing at the town’s entrance and watching.
"Oh my, there are even strangers who can land on the island. Is Baggett losing his touch?" An old mummy, propped on a black wooden cane, came over and remarked, seeing Alka and the others.
"Old man, what do you mean by that?" the trailing Baggett asked displeased.
The old mummy turned its head, staring at Baggett with black eyes.
"Ah, didn’t see you there, Baggett. You actually got on the island," the mummy said, seemingly scrutinizing Baggett.
"Looks like you were thoroughly beaten by these outsiders, too bad I didn’t see it."
"Grandpa Cane, I saw it. I’ll draw you a picture later," Nalisha suddenly said.
"Alright, alright, I’ll certainly enjoy it," the conversation made Baggett extremely displeased.
Alka and his companions finally realized just how unwelcome this Pirate Captain was in this ghostly place.
Almost like a rat crossing the street, everyone wanted to step on him.
Jason stood by, watching the skeleton beside him.
"My brother, you really don’t know how to live. What on earth did you do here to make everyone hate you so much?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Faced with Jason’s question, Baggett turned his head away, not wanting to answer at all.
