...

By the time Lucian woke up, it was already evening. For the first few seconds, he did not move. He looked at Evelyn lying beside him. She was still sleeping, her hand resting on his chest, her breathing soft and even. Her hair was spread over the pillow, still faintly damp from the bath they had taken before sleeping.

He continued to stare at her, recalling everything that had happened.

He then sensed the new ’connection’ he now had with her, and that made him smile.

About a minute later, Evelyn moved. Her eyelids trembled, her fingers curled on his chest, then, she slowly opened her eyes, saw Lucian, paused, and then smiled.

"Good morning, beautiful~"

Lucian greeted her with a gentle, slightly playful smile.

"Is it morning already...?"

Evelyn questioned in a lazy voice.

"It’s evening, but as they say, it’s morning when you wake up."

"No one says that."

"They do, trust me."

Evelyn only stared at him for a moment, then she smiled.

"How are you?"

He asked in a gentle, caring tone.

"I feel... strange.

Because of a certain someone, my legs feel numb."

Lucian grinned evilly at those words. Evelyn pouted, looking at him with an accusatory look. Lucian chuckled, still, he carefully looked at her, making sure she was actually fine.

Evelyn knew what he was doing. She could see the care in his eyes, and it made her smile.

Being loved truly felt... freeing.

In the end, Evelyn didn’t do anything. She just snuggled closer and closed her eyes, feeling his warmth. Lucian smiled at that. He gently patted her. He knew she liked it.

For the next few seconds, both of them remained silent.

Then—

"Lucian."

She suddenly called out.

"Hm?"

"I... feel something.

Is it your energy?"

She asked curiously.

"What does it feel like?"

Lucian asked curiously. They both knew the terms of the contract, but they were obviously new to this. They still needed to experiment and understand things on their own.

Evelyn closed her eyes, focusing on what she was feeling.

"It feels... warm?"

"Can you use it?"

"How do I use it?"

Evelyn asked, and honestly, Lucian had no idea.

"Just... try to use it?"

Those words made Evelyn move back and look at Lucian’s face with a deadpan look on her face.

"What?"

Lucian asked innocently.

"You do realise this is my first time forming a contract, right?"

Those words made Evelyn smile.

"Are you saying I took your first?"

"Yes."

Lucian nodded, knowing exactly how much that answer would satisfy her, and just as he expected, a big, proud smile appeared on Evelyn’s face.

Lucian chuckled at that, then gently kissed Evelyn’s lips, then, he sat up.

"How about you try it?"

He asked.

Evelyn nodded excitedly and sat up as well.

Who wouldn’t want to try using superpowers!?

People who have no life, maybe!

"Teach me."

Evelyn spoke, her eyes shining intensely. Lucian looked at her and chuckled again. Those expressive eyes looked so beautiful.

"As you command, my lady."

He answered with a light smile. Then, he looked around and his eyes fell on a hairpin. He picked it up, then, he placed it in the air above his palm and the next second—

The hairpin floated in the air.

Evelyn’s eyes widened in surprise.

"Is that..."

"Telekinesis, yep."

Lucian nodded.

"I did not know you could do that."

Evelyn frowned.

"I could not until yesterday."

Lucian smiled, and those words made Evelyn’s frown deepen.

"Huh? Then what’s different today?"

"Nothing, I just learned."

"You... learned?"

"Yes."

"From who?"

"Do you not remember? I went to my teacher."

Lucian tilted his head.

"She taught you this? In one night?"

"Yep."

"Teach me too!"

Evelyn grinned. She now seemed more excited. If Lucian had learned it so quickly, then wouldn’t she be able to learn it as well?

She could already imagine herself lifting cars and trucks and throwing them at her enemies like a certain redhead.

She could already imagine people calling her the Phoenix.

’Wait, would I be called Phoenix?

Do I dye my hair?

Would Lucian like it?’

She looked at him.

Lucian stared back at her. He could sense her excitement, and it made him smile.

"Do you want to try?"

He asked.

"Yes!"

Evelyn answered excitedly.

"First, feel the energy. That warm feeling you mentioned? Focus on that."

Lucian started teaching. Honestly, in theory, Evelyn shouldn’t be able to use demonic energy. After all, she was a human, and she actually could not use demonic energy. What she could use was the energy she took from Lucian, which happened to be demonic energy.

A tenth of his energy.

Lucian put that term in so Evelyn wouldn’t be helpless in emergency situations, so that she would have some way to protect herself. He wanted to give her more, but Vivienne instantly denied that.

Any more than this and it would directly affect Lucian’s strength. In a situation of panic, it was very possible for Evelyn to use up all the energy Lucian gave her access to, and if that happened, Lucian would find himself in a dangerous situation, with most of his energy gone.

Vivienne couldn’t have that, neither could Lucian, so he followed the limit Vivienne suggested, and now, because of him, Evelyn too had access to demonic energy, energy that she could use, even as a human.

With that, Lucian taught her how to control the energy. According to Vivienne, it would be easier since the contract would support her, and she was correct. Within about an hour, the air around Evelyn’s fingers trembled and—

The hairpin moved.

Only a little before it rolled off her palm and fell onto the blanket.

"I moved it!"

Evelyn exclaimed excitedly.

This really was easy!

"You did."

Lucian chuckled.

Evelyn’s face lit up. The happiness was so pure that Lucian almost forgot to breathe. She picked up the hairpin again and tried again.

Then again.

Then again.

And again.

She tried it again and again, wanting to learn how to control it completely. Then, once she mastered moving the hairpin, she would move a knife, then a missile, then thousands of missiles at the same time.

With enough training, she would become an absolute monster.

Or at least...

That’s what she thought it would go like, but...
