Chapter 1371: Chapter 1371: Thrown Out

His words were so direct, it actually made Carlotta’s face a bit stiff, making it seem like she was being particularly unreasonable, "I just have a better candidate, it’s not as complicated as you think."

"Carlotta, even though you raised Janelle single-handedly." Nathan Mills looked up, his voice steady but filled with a suppressed heartache, "But can you say that you don’t owe her anything?"

She was busy with work and seldom communicated with her daughter.

These words struck a chord in Carlotta’s heart, causing a sudden pang of sourness, something flickered in her eyes.

But she crossed her arms, deliberately turning slightly and avoiding the man’s gaze, unwilling to admit it.

Admitting it would mean owing.

She stood by the coffee table, he sat on the sofa, a brief silence appeared in the large living room.

"Carlotta, even if we hadn’t divorced, parents always owe their children." Nathan Mills spoke with deep feeling, "We are busy with work, neglecting companionship, which is a common issue in all families today."

Children were Carlotta’s weak spot, yet he kept playing the emotional card!

"What exactly do you want to say?!" Carlotta asked irritably.

Nathan Mills’ tone was filled with patience, "As parents, don’t we all want our children to be happy?"

"I haven’t said that I don’t want her to be happy!" Everyone here is an adult, so Carlotta understood everything he said.

But coming from his mouth, it felt like a lecture.

"Are you finished?" Carlotta, still with her arms crossed, glared down at him, "If you’re done, please leave! You’re not welcome here!"

Nathan Mills was taken aback for a moment, why was her temper flaring so abruptly?

Meeting his ex-wife’s impatient gaze, before Nathan Mills could say anything else, Carlotta came over and pulled him up, "Please leave! This is not where you should be! Go wherever you belong!"

She no longer had the patience to listen to him, every extra second added to her irritation!

"Get out! Didn’t you hear me?" Carlotta shouted at him, thinking of his current wife, her heart filled with rage!

Facing his suddenly hostile wife, Nathan Mills suddenly couldn’t say anything, he initially wanted to explain a bit more but was instead forcibly thrown out by her madness!

"Carlotta!"

"Get out! I don’t want to see you again!"

Hearing the shouting, Janelle anxiously opened her room door, just in time to see her father being pushed out.

With a bang, the suite’s door was closed!

Carlotta turned around angrily, only to meet her daughter’s eyes at the door not far away, mother and daughter exchanged a brief look.

"Mom, what are you doing?" Janelle walked out, dissatisfaction in her tone and expression, "How can you treat dad like this? Can’t you communicate properly?"

"Janelle Mills! You went behind my back to see him?!" Carlotta glared at her furiously, "You traitor!"

After saying that, the woman stormed to the coffee table, grabbed the bouquet of roses, and angrily threw it at the door that had just closed!

The sudden sound startled the girl, causing her shoulders to shrink and Janelle closed her eyes.

Shortly after, she heard another door slam shut!

Janelle tightly shut her eyes, and when she opened them again, her mother was nowhere in sight.

She couldn’t possibly follow her, so... she returned to her room.

Janelle’s arms hung at her sides, staring at the flower-strewn doorway, feeling utterly weary...

Her own issues were unresolved, and her parents’ situation was a total mess.

Is all human relationships about is either love or hate?

Can’t people get along? Even if just as friends.

Janelle was grateful for her father’s appearance today, it’s just that her mother had a bad temper.

With her mother treating him this way, he probably wouldn’t come again, would he?

As a daughter, she couldn’t bear to ask him to come a second time, Janelle felt a bit defeated, feeling like she was swirling in a vortex, unable to see a glimmer of hope.
