Unrivaled Soldier in the City
Chapter 568: The Arrival of the Gambling Saint
"Hmm, that’s enough. Including our own chips, we have over 85,000,000 now," Lin Kuang said with a laugh.
Upon hearing this, Mu Chengzhen blinked, standing completely dumbfounded. "Wait, we won 80,000,000 that fast?" he asked incredulously.
Lin Kuang nodded with a smile. "Yeah, our luck was great. We won all that in just a few hands. Come on, let’s head to the VIP room."
With that, Lin Kuang pulled the stupefied Mu Chengzhen toward the VIP room. A few moments later, the three of them arrived, where a middle-aged man sat flanked by two beautiful women, one leaning against each of his shoulders.
"Mr. Zhang, this gentleman has arrived," the man who had escorted Lin Kuang announced with a smile.
Zhang Tianhong nodded, his gaze falling upon Lin Kuang. In truth, Zhang Tianhong was no tycoon or wealthy man. He was just an employee at this underground casino—or rather, a top-level cardsharp tasked with handling people like Lin Kuang.
"Sir, may I ask your name?" Zhang Tianhong asked with a smile.
"My surname is Lin. And yours?" Lin Kuang replied with his own smile.
"You can call me Zhang. Zhang Tianhong," he said, standing and extending his hand. "It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lin."
Seeing this, Lin Kuang also extended his hand and gave Zhang Tianhong’s a firm shake.
"Mr. Lin, please take a seat," Zhang Tianhong said with a smile, gesturing to the chair opposite him.
Lin Kuang nodded and casually sat down, while Mu Chengzhen took his place standing behind him.
"Mr. Zhang, what would you like to play?" Lin Kuang took the initiative to ask after settling in. He wasn’t stupid; he knew something was fishy, but he had dared to come because he had absolute confidence in himself.
"Oh? I quite enjoy Stud Poker. What do you think, Mr. Lin?" Zhang Tianhong asked, leaning slightly forward.
"Sure, I like it too," Lin Kuang said with a smile.
"Excellent. Arrange for a croupier. I’ll play a few hands with Mr. Lin," Zhang Tianhong said, turning his gaze to the man who had led them in.
"Certainly, Mr. Zhang. Please wait a moment," the man said before quickly exiting.
A short while later, a beautiful woman entered. She was, evidently, the croupier.
"Good evening, gentlemen. I’m your croupier. What game will you be playing?" the woman asked with a practiced smile.
"Stud Poker," Zhang Tianhong replied.
"Very good. Shall I begin dealing?" she asked, shuffling the deck.
"Go ahead," Lin Kuang said this time.
The croupier began to deal, giving the first card to Lin Kuang and the second to Zhang Tianhong.
"Seems like my luck isn’t bad at all," Lin Kuang commented with a smile after looking at his hole card.
"It looks like my luck isn’t too shabby either," Zhang Tianhong chimed in.
"Alright, let’s continue," Lin Kuang said.
The croupier dealt the next card face up. Lin Kuang received a King of Spades.
"See? My luck is pretty good," Lin Kuang laughed.
"Not necessarily. It seems my luck is quite good as well," Zhang Tianhong said, turning over his card to reveal an Ace of Hearts.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang shrugged. "Indeed, your luck is a bit better. You first."
"I noticed you were playing with high stakes earlier, Mr. Lin. How about we start with ten million?" Zhang Tianhong said with a smile, tossing 10,000,000 in chips onto the table without waiting for an answer.
"Sure. Playing small is no fun anyway," Lin Kuang said, casually tossing out 10,000,000 in chips to match.
Watching Lin Kuang’s move, Mu Chengzhen grimaced internally. Damn, ten million. He’s really willing to part with that.
"Continue," Zhang Tianhong said, tapping the table lightly as he looked at the croupier.
The croupier nodded and dealt another round of cards, starting with Zhang Tianhong since he had the high card.
"Looks like my luck is really good. An Ace of Spades," Zhang Tianhong said with a smile as he revealed his new card.
"It seems your hand is still better. A Queen of Spades," Lin Kuang said with a sigh of mock helplessness.
"Then twenty million," Zhang Tianhong declared, pushing another 20,000,000 in chips forward.
Lin Kuang followed without hesitation.
The croupier continued to deal. Zhang Tianhong received an Ace of Diamonds, while Lin Kuang got a Jack of Spades.
"Twenty million. Continue," Zhang Tianhong said, throwing another 20,000,000 in chips into the pot. Lin Kuang followed suit once more.
The croupier dealt the final up-card. This time, Zhang Tianhong received yet another Ace—the Ace of Clubs. Lin Kuang received the Ten of Spades.
"Looks like I’m in luck. Four of a kind," Zhang Tianhong said, grinning at Lin Kuang. "Mr. Lin, you have no chance of winning unless you have a straight flush."
Hearing this, Lin Kuang just smiled faintly. "My luck is very good, you know. What if my hole card happens to be the Nine of Spades?"
"Is that so? One can hope, but I don’t think your chances are very high," Zhang Tianhong said again.
"Not necessarily. I feel like I’m going to win," Lin Kuang replied with a confident smile.
"Really? In that case, why don’t we go all in?" Zhang Tianhong said, pushing his entire stack of chips forward.
Lin Kuang didn’t hesitate for a second, pushing his own stack in as well.
"Mr. Lin certainly has guts. Let’s see the cards. I have four Aces," Zhang Tianhong announced with a triumphant smile.
"Alright. Looks like I’m guaranteed to win then," Lin Kuang said, gently flipping over his hole card. It was, impossibly, the Nine of Spades.
A Nine, Ten, Jack, Queen, and King of Spades—a straight flush. Zhang Tianhong had four Aces, the second-best hand in poker, but it was still a losing hand.
Seeing Lin Kuang’s Nine of Spades, Zhang Tianhong’s expression instantly soured. The beautiful croupier’s face turned ugly as well.
"Sir, you’re cheating right in front of us! Do you think that’s acceptable?" the croupier suddenly spoke up.
"Oh? Cheating? Do you have any evidence? You shouldn’t make baseless accusations," Lin Kuang said, his eyes narrowing into a smile.
Just then, Zhang Tianhong also forced a smile. "Exactly. You can’t just say things like that. What proof do you have that Mr. Lin is cheating?"
"I saw the Nine of Spades when I was shuffling. That card wasn’t supposed to appear," the croupier insisted.
"Is that so? Then by all means, check the deck. See if you can find the Nine of Spades in there," Lin Kuang replied calmly, not the least bit angry.
The croupier nodded and spread the remaining cards across the table. However, no matter how hard she searched with her wide eyes, she couldn’t find another Nine of Spades. This meant the card Lin Kuang held had indeed come from this very deck.
Seeing this, the croupier was stunned. She clearly remembered hiding the Nine of Spades at the bottom of the deck herself. How could it have possibly appeared in his hand?
The truth was, she was also a cardsharp, deliberately placed here by the casino. She and Zhang Tianhong were partners. But to have things turn out this way left her utterly baffled.
