Urban Super Soldier King
Chapter 1997 - 2098: Struggling to Survive in a Pile of Corpses
Xiang Yu’s face was full of anticipation. He hoped that the moment he turned around, he would see Tie Zhuzi’s figure.
But when he turned his head, there was nothing but ruins behind him, not a single human in sight.
The brothers of the guard squad lowered their heads in sadness, knowing the bond between Xiang Yu and Tie Zhuzi, it must be Xiang Yu’s illusion.
"Commander, we should leave quickly. It’s almost dawn and staying here is dangerous," the captain of the guard squad said.
Xiang Yu stubbornly looked back, trusting his own ears.
"Let’s go, check it out," Xiang Yu said and walked towards the back.
The guards had no choice but to follow Xiang Yu’s lead.
Xiang Yu walked about a dozen meters, surrounded by ruins, and stopped at a manhole cover underfoot.
"Open it," Xiang Yu ordered.
The guards shook their heads but stepped forward and opened the manhole cover. They thought Xiang Yu was hallucinating due to excessive worry for his brother.
But as soon as the manhole cover was opened, three men inside suddenly pointed guns upwards.
"Don’t move, don’t move..."
The guards did not expect anyone below and four of them quickly stood in front of Xiang Yu, afraid of any danger.
The confrontation lasted two seconds before the people below realized.
"It’s us, the Commander is here to rescue us!"
The people below shouted excitedly, and the guards could clearly see that they were from the City Guard Army.
Xiang Yu pushed through the crowd and jumped down when he saw it was his brothers.
The guards, worried about Xiang Yu’s safety, also jumped down after him.
It was dark inside, but spacious. This used to be part of the drainage system, abandoned and unused for years.
"Commander, you really came,"
The City Guard Army members were teary-eyed with gratitude. They had lost hope and never expected to see the highest Commander here.
"Is Tie Zhuzi here?" Xiang Yu asked nervously, glancing around.
He hadn’t felt this nervous in years, sometimes even doubting he retained this instinct.
The people in front nodded with a hint of dejection on their faces and led Xiang Yu further inside.
It was pitch black inside, and it took Xiang Yu a while to adjust and see his surroundings clearly.
The air was filled with a foul stench; the ground was a mix of excrement, and mosquitoes flew annoyingly in the air.
As Xiang Yu moved further in, he saw a man sitting quietly in front. The man was covered in blood, seemingly asleep.
"Zhuzi," Xiang Yu called out in a trembling voice, but the man in front didn’t respond.
"Commander, Leader Tie fainted due to excessive blood loss," someone whispered.
Xiang Yu rushed forward, seeing Tie Zhuzi’s left arm was gone, with fresh blood oozing down.
"What happened?!"
The sight shocked Xiang Yu’s mind with a buzzing noise; Tie Zhuzi’s left arm was missing.
All the City Guard Army members bowed their heads, and some started crying.
"Tell me what happened to his arm?" Xiang Yu couldn’t stand still any longer and shouted.
"Sorry, Commander, we failed to protect him. When the enemy attacked, a shell exploded next to Leader Tie, blowing his arm off."
Xiang Yu’s eyes were bloodshot, like a protective beast.
Seeing Xiang Yu’s stance, the guards quickly stepped forward, saying, "Commander, we should quickly get him out of here, or it could be dangerous."
At this moment, Tie Zhuzi groggily opened his eyes, smiling brightly at the sight of Xiang Yu.
"Yu Ge, it’s so good to see you again. I thought I was going to die in this stinky place," Tie Zhuzi said weakly.
"Don’t talk, I’m taking you out now."
After saying this, Xiang Yu stepped forward to carry Tie Zhuzi, and others rushed to help.
"Commander, we should do it,"
"Yes, I’m strong and sturdy, let me carry him."
Everyone eagerly wanted to carry Tie Zhuzi, but Xiang Yu insisted on doing it and lifted him.
"Yu Ge, am I heavy?" Tie Zhuzi said with a smile, resting on Xiang Yu’s shoulder.
"Don’t talk, and save your strength," Xiang Yu gritted his teeth and said.
He was incredibly angry at this moment, gradually accepting the reality that Tie Zhuzi’s left arm was gone.
"Yu Ge, don’t be sad. I’ve lost my left arm, but I still have my right one. It’s okay," Tie Zhuzi whispered weakly.
"Zhuzi, don’t worry, I will avenge this for you," Xiang Yu gritted his teeth and said.
"Yu Ge, I’m okay, really."
Tie Zhuzi didn’t finish his words and then fell asleep, resting on Xiang Yu’s shoulder. He was truly exhausted, and the excessive blood loss made his consciousness faint.
Xiang Yu emerged from the underground, glanced at the surrounding ruins, and ran forward with Tie Zhuzi on his back.
The guards and the City Guard Army followed close behind.
Dawn was breaking, and any further delay could be dangerous.
Currently, Xiang Yu had only one thought: quickly get Tie Zhuzi back to safety.
Xiang Yu’s group openly headed towards Lieyun City. However, because Sun City was in chaos, other organizations were also withdrawing.
As a result, no one paid attention to Xiang Yu and his group, and even if anyone noticed, they would not think this group was Xiang Yu’s.
In everyone’s eyes, Xiang Yu’s gang had been severely beaten back, and they never expected him to have the courage to come here.
At the time, the COM drove away the alliance forces for similar reasons, believing that Xiang Yu alone defending Lieyun City was meaningless, and sooner or later, it would be within their reach.
"Commander, we just received news that many organizations have started to retreat, leaving only COM and Wolf Fang," someone running beside Xiang Yu said.
Xiang Yu’s face remained cold; he said nothing, only kept running forward.
Tie Zhuzi weighed at least two hundred pounds, and the average person couldn’t possibly carry him, let alone run with him.
Some of the City Guard Army members were also injured and couldn’t keep up with Xiang Yu’s pace, forcing him to slow down.
"Commander, take a break, let us handle it," the guards said, worried about him.
Xiang Yu had run over a thousand meters with Tie Zhuzi on his back, yet he seemed to breathe evenly and showed no signs of fatigue.
Shaking his hand, Xiang Yu said, "I’m fine, and besides, I’m much more physically capable. It’s best if I carry him."
Those surrounding Xiang Yu were deeply moved, feeling a strong urge in their hearts that this man before them was their eternal Commander, someone they would follow for life.
Xiang Yu’s group ran directly out of Sun City.
From Sun City to Lieyun City, they had to cross a plain, previously developed for agriculture by Xiang Yu’s team, posing considerable danger to pass through.
"What should we do?" the guards asked nervously, looking at Xiang Yu.
They weren’t afraid of death, only concerned for Xiang Yu’s safety. Now that dawn was breaking, their advance would surely be noticed...
