Urban's Fury: The War Dragon God
Chapter 1741: The Five Generals
Before reaching the north gate, Yue Shan’s group ran into another bunch of people coming from the opposite direction.
When two groups of more than a hundred stalwart men met, it was like needle against awn, neither side willing to yield.
"Oh, isn’t this Yue the General!"
A bald young man on the opposite side spoke with a touch of sarcasm, looking at the mountain-like robust Yue Shan.
"Bald Peng, you’re also heading to the north gate."
Compared to Yue Shan, the bald man was just over seven feet tall, appearing somewhat "petite" among a group of eight-foot-tall men, yet no one dared to underestimate him, for he was Peng Hai, nicknamed Arhat War General.
Peng Hai squinted at Yue Shan: "So you’re heading to the north gate, too."
"I see your brains aren’t all in your muscles."
Yue Shan listened to Peng Hai’s biting words but replied coldly, "Save your sharp tongue for the newcomer. Although most rumors are likely spread deliberately to use us as tools, Li Feng’s entrance exam results shouldn’t be fake."
"Heh, a commander appearing once in a century—I, Yue Shan, must see for myself."
"Heh, you’re not the only one who wants to see him, and this Li Feng is mine. Don’t you dare compete with me, or I won’t mind having a match with you beforehand."
Peng Hai arrogantly declared.
Yue Shan chuckled coldly, "Heh, Bald Peng, do you think I’m afraid of you? If you could beat me down, you wouldn’t waste words here."
"Why bother with this nonsense."
Instantly, the two seemed ready to clash, and their disciples behind them were also at odds, as if a single disagreement would lead to war.
"Humph, let’s first head to the north gate; as for you and me, eventually there will be a showdown."
Peng Hai scoffed, and Yue Shan replied with equal rudeness, "I also have that intention."
Immediately, the two turned around and led their followers toward the north gate.
The north gate of Vermilion Bird Camp directly faces the Central Army Camp in the center of Nine Layers Mountain, and not everywhere within Nine Layers Mountain is freely accessible. Instead, there are designated passageways to pass through; wandering around might trigger arrays between the camps.
So to enter Vermilion Bird Camp, the north gate is a necessary route.
When Yue Shan and Peng Hai arrived with their people, the air at the north gate was already stagnant, as three other groups had arrived beforehand, and soon, hundreds of people completely blocked the gateway.
"Heh, I was wondering if the rock and the bald one would come over. Looks like you aren’t that stupid!"
"Red Lady, I don’t want to argue with a woman, but don’t push your luck."
Yue Shan’s sword-like eyes scanned towards the lady surrounded in the crowd, whose red robe and leather armor accentuated her alluring figure, looking bold yet charming.
This woman was Liang Hongying, one of the four beauties of Nine Layers Mountain, once known as the top beauty of Nine Layers Mountain. However, following Sikong Yu and Ouyang Qiuhai’s arrivals, her throne was no longer secure.
Moreover, Sikong Yu became White Tiger Camp’s Flag Master within two years at Nine Layers Mountain, although self-declared, carrying special significance—a credential that adds value upon joining the Ancestor Dragon Army later on.
Ouyang Qiuhai also made her mark within a year, conquering Xuanwu Camp. As a fellow woman, Liang Hongying prided herself on not losing to them, so she aimed to become Vermilion Bird Camp’s Flag Master to compete with those two women.
As for men, she didn’t regard them at all.
"Red Lady, stop struggling. Why not become my woman? Together, we can rule Vermilion Bird Camp. You may not be the Flag Master, but you could be the Flag Master’s woman!"
Peng Hai squinted at the captivating figure of Liang Hongying, whose beauty and form still had plenty of admirers despite her losing the top beauty title.
"Pah, can’t expect ivory from a dog’s mouth. With your hairless head, I’d fear our son would take after you."
"Better give up now."
Liang Hongying spat, uncivilized yet possessing a unique charm.
"Brother Shan, it seems all five generals are here."
Nine Layers Mountain has four camps, operating independently on a daily basis, with self-contained management. If you have the talent, you can rally a group, becoming a general.
Of course, anyone daring to claim such a title must have strength. Above generals are Flag Masters, a title earned by integrating one camp.
Murong Ye is Azure Dragon Camp’s Flag Master, Sikong Yu is White Tiger Camp’s Flag Master, while Vermilion Bird Camp’s previous Flag Master left for Ancestor Dragon Army, leaving inner generals to vie among themselves.
After a series of battles, there remain five generals, the Fourth Elder’s unruly bunch who refuse to yield, stagnant among themselves.
Among them are Yue Shan, known as the Shaking Mountain General; Peng Hai, posing as Arhat General; Red Lady Liang Hongying; Mountain Opening General Xu Kaishan; and Fei Long General Hu Feiqi.
Besides these five individuals, there are minor generals on the periphery, mostly possessing martial talents, yet lacking the strength of these five, thus only observing the spectacle.
"Tsk, didn’t expect all five generals to gather—Li Feng must be quite fortunate."
"Must Li Feng come to our Vermilion Bird Camp?"
"Hmm, asking that, where’s your brain now? Among four camps, three already have Flag Masters. If Li Feng truly has commander’s potential, his talent surpasses Murong Ye of Azure Dragon Camp. If he comes, who would yield and become his stepping stone?"
"Not to mention perceived threats from this Li Feng, hence the spread of such rumors to incite anger."
"Oh, nobody believes this, right?"
"Heh, is belief significant? What’s crucial is Li Feng’s appearance, destined to unsettle some positions. Observe these five generals—why are they all present?"
"They foresee Li Feng’s arrival, considering only Vermilion Bird Camp lacks a key figure. Why would the five generals surrender, letting him overshadow them? Would you?"
This person shook their head.
"If he’s extremely strong, then naturally they’d accept, yet without combat, they remain unconvinced."
In literature there’s no first, in martial arts there’s no second.
This is the iron rule.
As physical martial arts practitioners, their bones are ingrained with pride.
"Thus, the five generals wish to test this newcomer’s mettle, or perhaps step on him for ascent, being rightful for the Flag Master title after trampling even commander talent underfoot."
