Urban's Fury: The War Dragon God
Chapter 1792: Arrival at First Line Pass
"You two junior sisters have had a long journey, I’ll first arrange accommodations for you to rest. As for this person, if he comes to the First Line Pass, I will certainly stand up for you."
"Dare to bully you, I think he doesn’t know how many eyes the Horse King has."
Du Yanran said with a frown.
"Senior brother, if that person comes to the First Line Pass, you must inform us. We want to deal with him personally and make that bastard pay."
Ouyang Qiuhai also said through gritted teeth. Du Yanran nodded: "Junior sister, don’t worry. If he really wants to go south, then the First Line Pass is a road he must take; even with wings, he can’t fly past it."
"I’ll have someone keep an eye out for him."
Saying this, Du Yanran led Sikong Yu and Ouyang Qiuhai to an independent courtyard on the mountain wall: "You will stay here for now, don’t wander around. I still have some matters to attend to."
"Senior brother, you go ahead. We won’t wander off."
Hmm.
Du Yanran turned and hurriedly left. Looking at his departing figure, Sikong Yu turned to Ouyang Qiuhai: "Are you sure it was okay to say all that?"
Ouyang Qiuhai turned around to look at Sikong Yu and said, "What else can be done? Say you and I came all this way because of curiosity over a man?"
"This fairy still cares about her reputation; besides, without a reason, if this senior brother were to tell my father, I don’t want to face his stern face."
"Besides, didn’t you tug at me earlier, wasn’t that the implication?"
Sikong Yu rolled her eyes at Ouyang Qiuhai: "I told you to be careful with your words, not to make up a story like that."
"It’s not entirely made up. He had a three-year agreement with you, and when we went to the Vermilion Bird Camp to find him, he sneaked away and even had his subordinates mess with us. That counts as provoking me, doesn’t it?"
"So what I said was not wrong. If my senior brother interprets it differently, that’s beyond my control."
Ouyang Qiuhai showed a mischievous expression, seemingly thriving on chaos. Sikong Yu was speechless, looking at Ouyang Qiuhai, who appeared every bit the noble lady, yet was internally rebellious.
"Alright, don’t worry, at most my senior brother will beat him once, it’s not a big deal. After all, he’s asking for it by being arrogant and treating others like a joke."
Sikong Yu listened to Ouyang Qiuhai’s words and wondered, how could she answer? She couldn’t admit that it was all Ouyang Qiuhai’s fabrication.
"Hmm, it’s all we can do."
"Now that we’re here, we should make ourselves comfortable. It’s my first time at the First Line Pass. Just like the books say, it’s a real hanging pass."
Ouyang Qiuhai took Sikong Yu to the courtyard wall to overlook the land in front. The Sword Qi Canyon stretched directly to this point, forming a massive abyss. The side they were on seemed to be a huge Stone Mountain which had been pierced through, leaving only half a cliff wall.
To the east of this mountain lay the Demon Beast Mountain Range, part of the vast hundred thousand mountains coming from the west.
This mountain range, together with the Great Rift Valley ahead, formed the boundary on the Southern side of Ancestor Dragon City, and the First Line Pass was built on one of the hanging sides of the mountain range. Here lay a carved-through passage resembling the Shu Road, but made with a single sweep of a sword.
Gate City was built on the concave mountain wall, providing the safest and most secure route for traversing north and south.
"Yes, the First Line Pass stands between the endpoint of the Sword Qi Gorge, the Broken Sword Abyss, and the Demon Beast Mountain Range. In the Sword Qi Gorge, the Sword Qi crisscrosses unpredictably, while numerous fierce birds and beasts dwell there, making passage difficult."
"As for the Demon Beast Mountain Range, you can bypass it, but even the shortest route has a forbidden zone like Thunder Valley. The further routes are even less feasible, as each mountain peak could harbor an overlord of the Xuan Rank, or perhaps even Earth Rank in an entire mountain range."
"These fierce beast overlords have strong territorial instincts. Once trespassed, the odds are nine to ten you’ll be attacked and ultimately become food."
"Therefore, this route became the most crucial checkpoint in the Southern passage."
Sikong Yu had never been here, but at the Nine Layers Mountain, there was a model resembling this place. However, seeing it firsthand provided a different shock than just looking at a model.
"If he intends to head south, this is the road he must take. We flew here on a giant roc, but he should be traveling on land, taking at least three to five days of nonstop travel to reach outside the pass, so he cannot cross before us."
"Just wait here, and we’re sure to catch him."
"Yes, that’s what I thought too. I just hope my father doesn’t return too early, otherwise, I’ll be in trouble."
Ouyang Qiuhai said.
Two days passed in the blink of an eye.
"Just a hundred miles more and we’ll reach the Southern pass, the First Line Pass."
Ran Yue raised her arm, and the falcon landed. She fed it meat while relaying the information to Li Feng.
"Are we almost there?"
Li Feng looked ahead. Since leaving Zeng Family Ridge, it had been three days. This was the fastest pace since their mounts were limited. Lei Ba and others, previously leaving Ancestor Dragon, all traveled separately. As for several hundred people moving together on mounts, it practically invited undue attention.
Thus, they had to rely on their legs for a nonstop journey. Despite being cultivators, they couldn’t run endlessly without rest.
"Lei Ba, Lan."
"Camp Master."
"Tell everyone to stay vigilant in the last hundred miles. Don’t relax until we enter the First Line Pass. Then, I’ll let you rest well."
"Yes, Camp Master."
They turned and left immediately.
"The last hundred miles should be safe, given how close we are to the First Line Pass, and that woman is scouting ahead."
Ran Yue referred to Shadow. Although she wasn’t fond of her long straight black hair, her skills, particularly in stealth, were undeniably sharp.
Li Feng, however, had a jumping eye: "I don’t know why, but I have a bad premonition. Since we’ve traveled south from Purple Bamboo Sea, we haven’t encountered a single pursuer. It’s unusual."
"If I’m right, they might have reached the First Line Pass before us. If they don’t act here, then it might happen either at the First Line Pass or the Wilderness south of it."
"Surely not at the First Line Pass, it’s where the Border Army is stationed. Who dares to act recklessly, especially knowing you’re a Nine Layers Mountain disciple?"
"But your analysis does make sense, better to be cautious."
With that, the group proceeded at a steady pace towards the First Line Pass.
At the same time, special scouts at the First Line Pass also observed Li Feng and his group’s movement. With a group of several hundred, it was difficult to stay hidden.
