Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 260 - 257: Running Amok
A small error in calculating the teleportation coordinates meant Mo Qi and his two companions didn’t arrive directly at the Wolf Fang Sect, but rather at the border between it and the Wuji Sect.
And that was how they had met Yan.
By the time they reached the Wolf Fang Sect, three days had passed.
Yan was no longer in Mo Qi’s arms.
Although the warmth made her reluctant to leave, the dignity of Queen Mo Yan wouldn’t allow her to maintain such close contact with a male for long. This was true even if she currently looked like a child of eleven or twelve.
However, she was still barefoot, walking beside Mo Qi as he held her hand.
Mo Qi had thought of getting her a pair of shoes, but Yan had refused.
At first, he worried her feet wouldn’t be able to take the strain, but he soon discovered that she could walk as if on level ground, no matter how rough the terrain.
Though her feet would get covered in dirt, they never suffered any injury.
Once wiped clean, they were as fair and smooth as jade—small and delicate.
Mo Qi could only marvel at this.
If he hadn’t been unable to sense any True Essence fluctuations from her, Mo Qi might have even mistaken her for a hidden master.
"Mo the kid, have you considered my proposal?"
The Pig Emperor couldn’t pinpoint what was strange about Yan either, but it had a persistent feeling that something was off. It had suggested to Mo Qi more than once that it be allowed to perform a "poetry test" on her.
Mo Qi refused every time, without exception.
"Stop fooling around, Pig Emperor. Have you forgotten how terrifying your new ability is? Yan is just a little girl. How could she possibly withstand it?"
"But I get the feeling she’s far from ordinary."
"That’s just your speculation. What if you’re wrong?"
The Pig Emperor didn’t press the issue. While it couldn’t fathom Yan’s depths, it could sense her growing reliance on Mo Qi.
Even if she was hiding something, she probably meant him no harm.
"Yan, are you tired? Do you want me to carry you?"
As usual, Yan just shook her head, saying nothing while she nibbled on a Medicinal Pill with her cheeks puffed out.
"Then let’s rest for a while."
In three days, Yan had only spoken once—when Mo Qi first asked for her name. And she had only said a single word: "Yan."
She hadn’t spoken a word since.
Her expression remained impassive, giving her the air of a cool, distant little goddess.
Mo Qi had grown used to this. Worried that the long trek would exhaust her, he made sure to stop and rest periodically.
Sitting on a large boulder, Yan extended her feet toward Mo Qi with practiced, natural ease.
Mo Qi smiled and gently took hold of her small feet.
With a mere thought, a stream of fresh spring water flowed out from his Chaos Scripture.
He gently washed the dust from her feet.
The heat of his Nether Soul Flame Yang Fire radiated outward, drying them instantly.
A faint blush crept onto Yan’s cheeks, but her expression didn’t change.
A similar scene had played out no fewer than ten times on their journey.
’Even though it’s damaging to a Queen’s dignity,’ Yan had to admit, ’I quite enjoy it when Mo Qi washes my feet.’
It was as if he weren’t just washing her feet, but cleansing her very soul.
’By my calculations, Li Yuanhao and Zhang Shao should be here by now.’
After resting for a moment, Mo Qi took Yan’s little hand, ready to enter the Wolf Fang Sect.
"Yan, stay close. There might be a fight up ahead."
Yan allowed Mo Qi to lead her by the hand, her expression as impassive as ever. It was as if nothing in the world concerned her besides eating and having her feet washed.
"Let’s go. Time to see what this Wolf Fang Sect is all about!"
The intrusion of the four immediately set off the Wolf Fang Sect’s alarms.
"Enemies! We’re under attack again!"
Several tyrannical auras erupted from within the Wolf Fang Sect as countless figures swarmed the area.
In less than a breath’s time, a great Array enveloped Mo Qi’s party.
Mo Qi frowned. ’Isn’t the Wolf Fang Sect’s reaction a little too aggressive?’
’They didn’t even ask who we were, just immediately branded us as enemies.’
’And judging by how fast this Array activated, it’s as if they were waiting for us all along.’
’Has the Wolf Fang Sect offended so many people that they’re on a constant war footing, always on guard for an attack?’
"Mo Xiao, Hu the Eighth, go!"
Mo Qi had no intention of humoring the Wolf Fang Sect. After all, his current identity was the mysterious and esteemed Eldest Young Master Qin.
It would be out of character not to be arrogant.
With Mo Qi’s permission, Mo Xiao and Hu the Eighth shot into the air.
One on the left and one on the right, they plunged their hands into the void and ripped it apart with all their might.
SHREEE!
BOOM!
The Array was brutally torn in two. The resulting tide of energy from its collapse washed out in all directions.
Countless Wolf Fang Sect disciples were caught in the blast, and the casualties were innumerable.
"This is bad! That traitor actually found such powerful allies! Quick, summon the Old Ancestor!"
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!
The alarm bell rang out continuously as the Wolf Fang Sect entered its highest state of alert.
Low-Tier Disciples quickly retreated while Elders of the Vajra Realm and above rushed to assemble.
ROAR! ROAR! ROAR!
Deafening roars echoed from deep underground, and a savage, powerful, and primal aura grew increasingly potent.
"What nerve! Whatever that traitor paid you, how dare you come to our Wolf Fang Sect and run amok!"
Over a dozen figures flew out to confront Mo Qi’s party. Their leader was an old man at the Peak of the Void Realm, while the others ranged from the Early to Late Stage of the Void Realm.
’Traitor? Running amok?’
Mo Qi was taken aback. ’Looks like there’s more going on here than I thought.’
’This whole setup seems to be for someone else. We just happened to stumble into it.’
Even though he knew it was a misunderstanding, Mo Qi had no intention of explaining.
He hadn’t planned on playing nice with the Wolf Fang Sect anyway. If he didn’t still need to enter their Secret Realm, he would have already let Mo Xiao and Hu the Eighth go on a rampage.
Since Mo Qi didn’t tell them to stop, Mo Xiao and Hu the Eighth didn’t hold back.
Like tigers among sheep, the two of them charged into the group of Void Realm Cultivators.
"Engage the enemy! Show no mercy!" the old man roared, manifesting his Grotto Heaven as he led the charge toward Hu the Eighth.
Hu the Eighth sneered and met him with a backhanded slap.
BOOM!
With a thunderous crash, the old man was sent flying as if he’d been hit by a mountain. He had come in fast, but he went back even faster.
He plummeted to the ground, smashing through a large swath of palace buildings.
Even his Grotto Heaven wavered on the verge of collapse, cracks spiderwebbing across its surface.
"Im...impossible!"
The old man coughed up a mouthful of blood, his face a mask of disbelief.
’I’m at the Peak of the Void Realm!’
’And yet my Grotto Heaven was nearly shattered by a single slap! What kind of terrifying power is this?!’
"You... You’re a True Void Realm cultivator!"
Hu the Eighth ignored him. He and Mo Xiao made short work of the remaining Void Realm cultivators, knocking them all to the ground.
A True Void Realm cultivator fighting a Void Realm cultivator is like a father fighting his son—there’s no contest.
"The Empire has a decree that True Void Realm cultivators are forbidden from acting so freely! You are challenging the authority of the Empire!"
The old man struggled back to his feet, then another thought struck him. "No, that’s not right. That traitor doesn’t have the resources to hire True Void Realm cultivators!"
"Who are you? What business do you have with the Wolf Fang Sect?"
"Insolent! Kneel!" Mo Xiao’s aura suddenly erupted, pressing down on the old man.
Already grievously injured, the old man couldn’t withstand it. His knees buckled, forcing him to kneel before Mo Qi as the bones in his legs shattered under the pressure, staining the ground red with his blood.
"AAAAARGH!" the old man shrieked in agony. "The Old Ancestor will not spare you!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, four auras far surpassing the Void Realm emerged from the depths of the Wolf Fang Sect.
"If you don’t give us a proper explanation, then even if you two are in the True Void Realm, this old man will ensure you stay here forever!"
