Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 272 - 269: Am I Qualified?
"You, a stray dog and a traitor to the Sect, actually have the nerve to show your face?"
Zhang Shao’s face was grim. If the timing weren’t so inappropriate, he would have killed Jin Quan on the spot.
"Stray dog?" Jin Quan sneered. He pointed at the devastated surroundings. "Open your eyes and take a good look. Who’s the real stray dog here?"
In the past, Zhang Shao might have been unsettled by the Wolf Fang Sect’s fate.
But now that he thought he had successfully allied himself with the powerful Blessed Qin Daye, he no longer cared about such worldly possessions or people.
In his eyes, Jin Quan was just an idiot—all brawn and no brains—who couldn’t face reality.
"Heh!" Zhang Shao scoffed. Just as he was about to retort, Zhongli spoke first from a distance.
"A traitor to the Wolf Fang Sect? Heh, interesting. How about this? I can see you two can’t stand each other, so why don’t you just have a fight."
Both Jin Quan and Zhang Shao looked tempted. They both wanted to kill the other.
A fight was the best way to settle it.
"I have no objection," Zhang Shao said first. "I just wonder if you have the guts."
"Hmph, if you want a fight, you’ll get one!" Jin Quan’s tone shifted, and he looked at Zhongli. "However, I hope you will stop the senseless slaughter."
Zhongli laughed. "A mere Void Realm cultivator like you thinks you’re qualified to bargain with me? The only reason I haven’t suppressed you myself is that I want to watch a good show of dogs biting dogs."
Being compared to dogs, the expressions on both Zhang Shao and Jin Quan turned extremely ugly.
But facing Zhongli, a Void Ascendant Realm cultivator, they were helpless.
The Void Realm and the Void Ascendant Realm were on completely different levels.
"They aren’t qualified. Am I?"
Just then, a voice full of authority suddenly rang out. It carried an aura born from long-held high status, one that commanded respect and awe from all who heard it.
Everyone was shocked. Someone had gotten close without any of them noticing!
Following the sound, they saw a young man dressed in a Purple Gold Robe, with a Four-Clawed Divine Dragon embroidered on his chest.
"Young Prince?!"
Zhongli recognized him instantly, his face draining of color. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
The Wuji Sect was supported by the Imperial City’s Nangong Family. As one of the sect’s ancestors, Zhongli was naturally familiar with the key figures of the Six Great Clans.
"It seems you recognize me?" Li Yuanhao’s expression was blank, his voice cold.
The Young Prince of the Kaosan was known to be withdrawn and arrogant. Like the Kings of Kaosan before him, he was ruthless; once he identified an enemy, he would eradicate them root and stem, showing no mercy.
Recalling the information he had on Li Yuanhao, Zhongli didn’t dare to be careless and hurried forward.
"Zhongli of the Wuji Sect pays his respects to the Young Prince." His tone was reverent, his posture deeply humble.
He knew that when facing the line of the King of Kaosan, even the Nangong Family had to give them a wide berth.
If Li Yuanhao were to become displeased with the Wuji Sect, the King of Kaosan wouldn’t even need to lift a finger. The Nangong Family would be the first to annihilate them to avoid angering the King.
"So, am I qualified to make your men stand down?" Li Yuanhao stared at Zhongli, asking word by word.
Zhongli broke out in goosebumps under his gaze, a cold sweat beading on his forehead.
It wasn’t because Li Yuanhao was stronger than him, but because of the complete, overwhelming pressure of his aura.
’Could it be... the Wolf Fang Sect is a power backed by the King of Kaosan?’
’If that’s true, then we’ve really stirred up a hornet’s nest!’
"Everyone, halt!"
At that thought, Zhongli didn’t dare hesitate and immediately ordered a stop to the slaughter.
"Young Prince, please forgive us. We were unaware that the Wolf Fang Sect was under your protection. We have greatly offended you." Zhongli hurriedly apologized.
Zhang Shao was overjoyed. Li Yuanhao’s timing was simply perfect; he had arrived at just the right moment to witness the tragic state of the Wolf Fang Sect.
The Wolf Fang Sect had ended up this way because they were protecting Mo Qi.
Zhang Shao could take all the credit for this gesture and use it to curry favor with Blessed Qin Daye.
Unfortunately, Li Yuanhao didn’t spare him a single glance from beginning to end.
He was currently carrying out a very important task, just as Mo Qi had instructed.
"Gather all your men and follow me."
Li Yuanhao didn’t hold them accountable, nor did he show any intention of standing up for the Wolf Fang Sect. He simply threw out the command, turned, and left.
Zhongli was completely bewildered. He had no idea what Li Yuanhao wanted, but he didn’t dare ask. He could only follow the order, gather the men from the Wuji Sect, and follow along.
Jin Quan never imagined that the Wolf Fang Sect would have any connection to the Young Prince of the Kaosan.
Now, forget about revenge; whether he could even survive was a huge question.
"Jin Quan, you’re dead meat! HAHAHA!"
Zhang Shao burst into loud laughter, the mocking expression on his face completely unconcealed.
"Brother Jin, what do we do?" Panic was spreading, and someone couldn’t help but ask.
"Don’t panic. Nothing is set in stone yet. We’ll wait and see how things unfold!"
Li Yuanhao led Zhongli and his group to the four ancestors of the Wolf Fang Sect. Pointing at the four unconscious figures, he said, "Bring these four along as well."
As soon as he finished speaking, someone immediately came forward and hoisted up the four ancestors.
Li Yuanhao pressed his palms together, bowed toward the empty space before him, and began muttering something under his breath.
The next second, his body suddenly dropped into a standard horse stance.
Then, he pressed the index and middle fingers of both hands together. He extended one hand forward and raised the other above his head, striking an incredibly strange pose.
"Open!"
He let out a sharp cry.
However, nothing happened.
The entire area fell deathly silent. Everyone stared, dumbfounded.
Zhongli was completely baffled. ’What is the Young Prince doing?’
’Your True Essence is contained, and you haven’t released your Divine Sense. You’re just dryly going through the motions.’
’Open? Open what?’
’You can’t even open a Storage Space like that!’
’I knew he was unreliable!’
Li Yuanhao’s mouth twitched twice as he recalled what Mo Qi had told him earlier.
"My dear nephew, in a moment, I want you to strike this pose." As he spoke, Mo Qi had demonstrated the movements.
"Leave the rest to me. Your only job is to lead them in. Oh, and don’t let those four old geezers from the Wolf Fang Sect get away either."
Li Yuanhao had questioned it at the time, but Mo Qi’s confident, earnest expression had convinced him to trust him.
The result...
’Uncle! I can tolerate the cringey chuuni pose, I really can!’
’But can’t you at least give me some kind of reaction?’
’You told me to lead them in, but the key question is, in where?’
’There’s nothing here! This is so embarrassing!’
Faced with everyone’s bewildered stares, what could Li Yuanhao do?
Try it again, of course!
And so, Li Yuanhao repeated the entire sequence of movements.
Horse stance, sword fingers, pose—all in one smooth motion!
"Open!"
Still, nothing happened.
’Uncle, can you please stop messing with me!’
Li Yuanhao wanted to cry but had no tears. He felt like dying inside, but on the surface, he maintained his aloof expression and feigned confusion. "Did I remember it wrong?"
Just as Zhongli was about to ask what Li Yuanhao had remembered incorrectly, the space about a hundred feet in front of them began to tremble violently.
Soon, a flash of light streaked by, and a fissure tore open in the space.
