Venerable Demon Chef
Chapter 375 - 372: I’ll Be Very Gentle
The Feng Family’s experts, including their Immortal Ancestor, meticulously scoured the ten-mile radius around the ancestral hall at least ten times, but they found nothing.
There were no suspicious individuals, nor were there any direct clues.
Ultimately, all eyes fell on Feng Lun, Feng Liang, and Mo Qi.
Because only they had been present when the incident occurred.
"What in the world happened?" the Immortal Ancestor asked in a grave tone.
Feng Lun looked awkward. He glanced at Mo Qi and opened his mouth, but he seemed to find it difficult to speak.
’What could I say?’
’Tell them I asked Mo Qi to pay respects to our ancestors, and after a single bow, the ancestral tombs exploded?’
’Even though it’s the truth, who would believe it if I said it out loud?’
’I don’t even believe it myself!’
’If I really said that, the Immortal Ancestor would probably slap me right across the face.’
But the Immortal Ancestor had spoken, and Feng Lun dared not refuse to answer. He could only hem and haw, beating around the bush, unable to give a clear explanation.
"Enough, enough. You’re a disgrace. Step aside!" the Immortal Ancestor said, waving his hand in disgust.
He then replaced his scowl with a smile and looked at Mo Qi. "Young Mo Qi, you tell me."
Seeing this, Feng Lun wasn’t the least bit upset; instead, he let out a sigh of relief and quickly stepped aside.
Mo Qi didn’t stand on ceremony and held nothing back, recounting the entire course of events.
’I already warned him beforehand, anyway. It was Feng Lun’s own fault for not believing me.’
’This isn’t my fault!’
And so, the expressions on the faces of the Feng Family members became a sight to behold.
"You mean to say... the Feng Family’s ancestral tombs collapsed because you bowed once?" the Immortal Ancestor asked, the corner of his mouth twitching violently.
Mo Qi nodded. "Yes."
"Why?" the Immortal Ancestor blurted out instinctively. "How did you do it?"
He simply couldn’t imagine what connection there could be between bowing and exploding tombs.
There was no benefit for Mo Qi to lie about this, so despite how unbelievable it sounded, the Immortal Ancestor was somewhat inclined to believe him.
Mo Qi thought for a moment, then said with a serious expression, "It’s probably because I’m handsome."
The Immortal Ancestor: "???"
The Feng Family: "???"
’Handsome my ass!’
’This involves our ancestral tombs! This is a very serious matter!’
If not for the high regard the Immortal Ancestor held for Mo Qi, the Feng Family would have ground his bones to dust for that statement alone.
After he spoke, those in the Feng Family who had initially been friendly toward Mo Qi now looked at him with eyes full of displeasure and coldness.
Even the Immortal Ancestor’s smile vanished, his expression turning dark.
Seeing their reactions, Mo Qi shrugged and said helplessly, "I told them not to let me pay my respects, that the ancestral hall couldn’t handle it, but they refused to believe me. And look what happened."
"Now I’m telling you it’s all because I’m handsome, and you still don’t believe me!"
He paused, then pointed to Feng Liang on the ground and added, "So if I say I can make him undergo a deep awakening of his bloodline right now, you won’t believe that either, I take it?"
The members of the Feng Family all trembled at his words, their expressions a mix of emotions.
There was surprise, astonishment, suspicion, and utter bewilderment, but more than anything, there was disbelief.
Feng Liang himself was stunned for a moment before he snapped out of it, a look of contempt appearing on his face.
"Mo, cut the crap! Make *me* have a deep bloodline awakening?! Do you even know what kind of bloodline I have? Don’t you worry about that big mouth of yours getting you in trouble!"
Mo Qi ignored Feng Liang’s taunt and instead turned his gaze to the Immortal Ancestor.
He was the one in charge; the opinions of others didn’t matter at all.
The Immortal Ancestor stared intently at Mo Qi, trying to read something from his face.
But he could see nothing but composure and confidence.
’Could it be...’
"Young man, can you truly make Feng Liang undergo a deep bloodline awakening? Let me remind you, this is no joking matter!" the Immortal Ancestor said, his expression grave and his tone serious.
Mo Qi held up one finger.
"The time it takes for an incense stick to burn is all I need."
Everyone was shocked again. Making Feng Liang undergo a deep bloodline awakening in the time it takes for an incense stick to burn?!
It just sounded more and more ridiculous!
One had to understand that to help Feng Liang accumulate the Energy needed for a deep bloodline awakening, the Feng Family had paid an enormous price to activate the Ancestral Pool.
Furthermore, to keep the Ancestral Pool operational, the Feng Family had to invest a massive amount of resources every year.
Even so, after ten years of soaking and bloodline purification, Feng Liang had only neared the verge of a deep awakening; he still had a long way to go before a true awakening.
For Mo Qi to now claim he could do it in the time it takes an incense stick to burn was just preposterous.
"If you don’t believe me, I can demonstrate it right in front of all of you," Mo Qi said, holding his hands out. "Of course, the decision is yours. It makes no difference to me either way."
If the Feng Family Immortal Ancestor’s attitude hadn’t repeatedly satisfied Mo Qi, he would never have brought this up on his own initiative.
He was doing this now simply to return a favor—granting Feng Liang a fortunate opportunity and repaying a debt to the Feng Family.
At the same time, it was also a way to add to his own bargaining chips, making the Feng Family value him even more.
"Very well, young man. I will see for myself how you make Feng Liang undergo a deep bloodline awakening," the Immortal Ancestor agreed after a moment of contemplation.
Feng Liang, still lying on the ground, ignored by everyone: "..."
’Hey, hey, hey! Can you guys not be so casual about this?!’
’Can’t you show a little respect for the person involved here?’
’Did I agree to this?’
’And another thing!’
’What do you mean, ’demonstrate’?!’
’I’m the number one seed of the Feng Family, with the purest bloodline! Aren’t you afraid your little demonstration will break me?’
’Also!’
’Have you all forgotten about the ancestral tombs?!’
’Don’t you have any respect for our forefathers?!’
Just as Feng Liang was ranting in his head, Mo Qi was already rubbing his hands together, approaching with a wicked grin.
"Don’t come over here! I don’t need a deep awakening!"
Feng Liang paled in horror. He tried to get away from Mo Qi, but he was bound by a large net and paralyzed by a numbing power, only able to wriggle his body like a silkworm.
"Don’t worry, I’ll be very gentle," Mo Qi said with a grin, revealing two rows of pearly white teeth.
Then he grabbed one of Feng Liang’s legs and dragged him onto a large rock like a dead dog.
"Wh-what are you going to do?" A very bad feeling welled up in Feng Liang’s heart.
’Weren’t you acting all high and mighty just a moment ago, kid?’
’You showed up with that domineering ’who else but me’ attitude. What, getting scared now?’
"Nothing much. Just going to loosen you up a bit so I can open your Ren and Du meridians, connect the Bridge of Qi and Blood, and channel the Essence of the Sun and Moon to bolster your origin."
Feng Liang: "@#¥%&*"
’Ren and Du my ass! You’ve been listening to too many storyteller’s tales!’
’Where the hell would I have Ren and Du meridians?!’
’And that ’Bridge of Qi and Blood’ thing sounds completely made up.’
’And Essence of the Sun and Moon!’
’I’m not a Demon Beast! What the hell would I need the Essence of the Sun and Moon for?!’
"This is revenge!"
"Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because the Immortal Ancestor has your back!"
Mo Qi’s smile didn’t waver. He sent a telepathic message: "That’s right, I am taking revenge. What are you going to do about it?"
"And, I’m not sorry to say, when the Immortal Ancestor has your back, you really *can* do whatever you want."
