Villain Extra: Rogue Reader
Chapter 21: Let’s Spar
The crowd was stunned on the spot when they realized Ray was dead serious in accepting Skyler as his lackey.
"Are you not afraid of our mother’s retaliation?" Skylar stepped in and inquired. She didn’t really approve of her brother’s pathetic action, but as twins, she needed to make sure their prestige wouldn’t be hammered down by an outsider.
Not to mention, their mother would definitely give them an earful once she learned of this incident.
"Is your mother not afraid of the Lord?" In response to her question, Ray directly threw out Robert’s name.
Sure enough, Skylar’s face frowned.
"I’m not afraid of Father. I have respect for him." She clarified.
"If you have respect for him, then why didn’t Father say anything about our sparring condition? It means that he silently approves, and your action right now is no different than disrespecting him." Ray rebuked.
"..."
Skylar was rendered speechless by his seamless logic. There was nothing wrong with it, yet she still felt it was very wrong.
"If you have the courage to accept me as a lackey, then you are best prepared for the consequences." At this moment, Skyler finally regained his standing and warned.
"Come and clean this shoe that you made dirty, lackey." In response to the warning, Ray lifted his shoe, which was used to kick him in the manhood earlier.
Everyone was quickly dumbfounded by Ray’s arrogance.
However, what made everyone stupefied was that Skyler actually retrieved a handkerchief and approached Ray.
When they thought Skyler might suddenly attack him, they were once again flabbergasted.
Not only did Skyler knelt on one knee, but he also really began cleaning Ray’s shoe like a lackey.
’Hmph, a bunch of retards.’ Ray sneered inwardly when he managed to gain enough villain points from his earlier action and purchased Skyler’s profile.
Although the profile wasn’t as in-depth as Belva’s, it still gave him an insight that Skyler was the type to obey the strong and disdain the weak.
In other words, the bolder his action and speech were, the greater the submission Skyler would be.
But then again, it wasn’t quite a surprise for Ray to see such a character setting appearing. The Carrion Household was one suffocating place where, as long as one could prove their worth, they could do whatever they wanted.
In contrast, if one failed to prove themselves, they were subjected to demeaning and outright alienation.
Even the servants wouldn’t look at them brightly.
"It’s cleaned." Skyler stood up and reported.
"Very good, my lackey." Ray nodded in approval when his shoe became sparkly clean.
He gave him a good pat in the head and ordered, "Now show me to my room. I’m tired and wish to take a nap now. I really hate exercising and moving a lot."
During the patting, Ray also gained the chance to devour one of Skyler’s abilities.
Needless to say, the ability he devoured was the sword attack that Skyler tried to use on him in the spar: Rend.
Rend was the skill that enabled the user to coat their weapon or something equivalent with mana to tear the target apart violently, forcefully, or into pieces.
’Too bad there are still limitations with it.’ Ray thought to himself.
He refused to fully believe the skill was truly capable of tearing everything apart. Otherwise, his elemental barrier cast on Skyler himself would have been torn apart.
Or another possibility was that it was a user skill issue. Ray was more inclined to believe that it was definitely a skill issue.
After all, Skyler sucked at battle and got way too heated in the head.
Who the hell fights with an agitated emotion?
Unless you were the protagonist who fucking gets power-up or random flashback scenes when enraged or agitated, then you’re just being a dumbass.
"Please follow me," Skyler turned around and began guiding Ray to his room.
Ray nodded and followed him under the eyes of many.
Upon passing a certain individual, Ray curled his lips upward. "Jake, right? You want your money back? Become my lackey number 2, and you’ll get it back."
"Scram!" Jake hissed coldly and resisted the urge to beat him up.
"You don’t like money?" Ray gasped and placed a hand on his chest. He hurriedly distanced himself from Jake.
Then, under Jake’s eyes, he took the very same pouch and grabbed a few coins. "Skyler, here are some coins for you."
Skyler caught the coin and was startled by the gold coin. "I-Is this really for me?"
"Of course, it’s for you," Ray smirked. "As my lackey, how could you not be better off than others? Don’t be like a ’Jake’ and turn penniless, okay?"
Skyler nodded his head repeatedly, his eyes fixated on the gold coin in his hand. His allowance would never have a gold coin.
In the household, only two people were ever qualified to receive a gold coin allowance. They were none other than Jake and Chloe.
Jake, being the eldest son and born to the first wife, was naturally given some privileges. Even if many were dissatisfied, there was nothing much they could do.
However, Chloe earned the allowance through her ability.
Don’t underestimate her just because she was rendered speechless by Ray in a verbal spar. In terms of actual combat, Chloe was only inferior to Butler Alfred besides the obvious Marquis Robert.
That alone spoke volumes, especially when she had personally led armies to siege and defend places.
Had it not been for the Marquis’ order to come for tonight’s dinner for an important announcement, not everybody would have been present.
Just when Ray was about to leave for good this time, Chloe stepped in front of him.
"Let’s spar!" She requested.
"I’m tired." Ray waved his hand in a dismissive tone and walked around her.
What a joke that was!
Chloe, the goddamn villainous war god of the Carrion Household!
This woman alone had caused the novel to span across 10-20 Chapters of fighting, and she was only defeated because she ran out of stamina.
As for when she ran out of stamina?
That took almost a week of straight fighting from a large group of enemies!
