Chapter 39: No Scam

Ray regretted slapping himself to confirm whether he was daydreaming or not. He could have totally found another person to slap.

But then again, he wished to keep his ability a secret.

Some might call him boring or annoying to hide his ability. However, that was to retain his skills and prevent others from learning it.

There was a difference between ridiculous hiding from the actual overpowered and hiding as a weakling.

He wasn’t overpowered, so obviously, he was going to conceal his skills to play the pig to eat a tiger.

"Sigh, if only I were overpowered. I would have flexed from the get-go, but too bad so sad. I’m a damn villain extra because the author is a sadist." He pursed his lips.

[I don’t think cursing the author is a wise choice.]

"What are you going to do about it? Screw me more? Then I’ll just off myself and say bye-bye."

Stay cowardly for the entire time?

Sorry, but he ain’t going to let others play him like a puppet.

So far, he has only tried to survive because he actually enjoyed the world in Lord of Magic. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the character he supported face-to-face.

But that thought process had been fleeting as of late.

The destruction, ruins, and death he witnessed were too real.

Once the adrenaline rush was over, the mental breakdown was bursting.

’In the end, that little girl died from grief.’ Ray still remembered the report that the soldier gave him when they were returning.

He thought he would be emotionless, but the truth was far from it.

Thoughts of that had he been a bit more concerned and not avoided interacting with them much to prevent derailment in the storyline, then maybe the little girl would have lived.

In fact, the little girl wasn’t the only one who ended their life. There were many more who lost hope.

Their most beloved families were killed, and the culprit was dealt with, too, which meant that the desire for revenge was also gone. Since that was the case, nothing remained in the world that could possibly make them want to live on.

’All fun and games until shit hits the fan. This statement really isn’t wrong.’ Without hesitation, Ray exhaled deeply.

Soon, he rushed to the door and opened it.

"Greetings—"

Belva was about to greet, but Ray literally slapped her in the face. The resounding crispiness of the sound was loud.

’Tsk,’ Ray clicked his tongue, but then he spotted Jake and his mother. And upon closer inspection, Jake was carrying a tray.

’Free points.’ He smirked and grabbed the tray. Then, under everyone’s eyes, he thrashed the tray in Jake’s face.

The sudden action was completely unexpected.

Both Michelle and Belva widened their eyes in disbelief.

What was going on?

However, that wasn’t even the final straw.

"Hawk Tuah!" Ray spitted at Jake’s face, who had plopped to the ground from the previous impact.

DUN DUN DUN!

’Hmm, still not enough?’ He was dumbfounded by the gain.

Was it on purpose?

’Don’t blame me, Jake.’ Ray turned to Michelle and said, "Your son, Jake, was busy ogling women during the mission. It was a good thing that I stopped him in time, but that woman ended their life. As his Mother, I hope you can teach your son some self-control. There are brothels if he is really that desperate."

"What nonsense is this!" Jake ignored the spit on his face as he roared in fury.

Nothing was more important than clearing his innocence right now.

After all, his Mother might be a ruthless and merciless noble, especially toward commoners. But there was one thing his Mother hated the most.

And that was when someone forced themselves on an unwilling woman.

When Michelle was young, she had a maid as a friend. But tragedy struck, and they were both attacked.

To save her, the maid used herself as bait to buy time for her escape.

By the time Michelle regrouped with the rescue soldiers and returned to the scene, the maid had been defiled badly and killed.

That was when her whole personality crumbled, and Michelle swore to make the culprit pay.

She succeeded with the help of Robert, who captured all those responsible, and she personally oversaw all sorts of torture methods.

Despite the revenge being obtained, the maid she cherished as a friend would no longer appear before her.

The only thing left in her memory was the light smile on her face when she told her to flee.

"Is this true, son?" Michelle’s expression was stoic, but anyone could tell the rage dwelling in her.

"This is fake news!" Jake replied in a panic and stared at Ray. "Why are you harming me, Ray? I never even did any of that."

"No scam!" Ray shrugged his shoulders. "I was certain that you were holding the little girl while she was shouting at you to go away."

"..."

’Go fuck yourself!’ Jake nearly brought out the word mother so he cursed in his mind. He was assisting the little girl back at Moonrock Town because she was clearly in a distressed state and needed healing.

The shouting was done because the little girl was stubborn and refused to get her wounds treated, although it no longer mattered anyway when they chose death.

Alas, Jake’s silence would be his worst decision instead of just cursing out Ray’s mother.

"Look at his silence. I wasn’t lying, First Mother." Ray scratched his head and returned to his bedroom.

While Ray left the scene after causing a big mess, Michelle requested something.

"Belva, bring the stick..."

"It’s here, Madam."

Like a professional maid, Belva had made sure to keep the feather duster stick real close.

"..."

Jake’s forehead began forming sweat.

"Mother, don’t listen to that outsider." He struggled to defend himself, unaware that he had made a slip of the tongue.

"Didn’t I say the word outsider is banned?" Michelle’s expression descended into darkness as she hurled the world’s scariest attack known to mankind.

The whip!

SMACK!

"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Inside Ray’s bedroom

"See, you should have given me more points earlier, Jake. Now you have to suffer more." Ray lamented his fate.
