Villain of Fate: The Tyrant System
Chapter 297: The Thieves Walk Into the Trap
The Thieves Walk Into the Trap
Inside his mind, an embarrassed thought surfaced.
[Wow, you can’t do this, darling.]
Julian D’Aurelius couldn’t help but smile bitterly to himself. His handsome face remained calm, but inside, he felt a little helpless. Amara Ravenswood had thrown herself against him so naturally that he almost forgot there were other people nearby.
His golden eyes instinctively shifted toward senior Miracle Doctor Ravenswood, who was standing only a few steps away.
Another helpless thought immediately followed.
[The old man is watching, it’s not appropriate.]
Amara’s beautiful hazel eyes suddenly widened.
After hearing Julian’s inner voice, she finally realized what she was doing.
A faint blush instantly spread across her delicate face. Only then did she remember that she was still wearing her loose nightgown. In her panic over Julian’s sudden arrival, she had completely forgotten about her appearance.
Feeling both embarrassed and shy, she quickly released Julian’s arm. She stuck out her tongue playfully to hide her awkwardness before looking at him with concern.
"Brother Julian, when is that thief coming? Should we call the police?"
Her voice was much softer now, but the curiosity in her eyes remained. She had already witnessed Julian’s abilities several times, yet she still couldn’t help wondering how he always seemed to know what was about to happen.
Julian calmly shook his head.
"No need, we’ll talk about it after we catch them."
His tone was steady without the slightest trace of panic.
Calling the police now would only increase the chances of alerting the enemy. If the thieves sensed danger before revealing themselves, everything prepared tonight would be wasted.
The cool night breeze drifted through the courtyard, carrying the faint scent of medicinal herbs hanging beneath the eaves. Moonlight spilled across the stone ground, while the surrounding trees swayed gently, their rustling leaves blending with the quiet chirping of insects.
Everything appeared peaceful.
Too peaceful.
Julian slowly scanned the surroundings with his sharp golden eyes.
The silence before a storm was often the most deceptive.
He then turned toward the elderly physician.
"Senior Miracle Doctor, you should all go inside and rest. Leave this to us."
Senior Miracle Doctor Ravenswood looked at Julian for several seconds.
Although he was still worried, he knew the young man before him wasn’t someone who acted recklessly. Julian had never made empty promises.
The old doctor nodded.
"Alright, but be careful."
"I will."
The elderly physician didn’t waste another word. He gathered the clinic staff, instructing everyone to return inside and lock the doors tightly.
Soon, the lively courtyard became much quieter.
Only Julian and Amara remained outside.
Even then, Amara had absolutely no intention of leaving.
"I want to stay."
Julian looked at her.
"It could become dangerous."
She folded her arms stubbornly, puffing out her cheeks.
"I won’t get in your way."
Julian simply smiled.
Her determined expression made it obvious that convincing her would be impossible.
After sending the clinic staff back to rest, Amara was adamant about staying. She insisted on squatting beside Julian to watch them catch the thief.
Julian initially wanted to send her back directly.
But after thinking it over, he quietly changed his mind.
Lina Ashford and Liza Voss were already hidden nearby. With the two women secretly protecting the area, there shouldn’t be any real danger reaching Amara.
Besides...
Having this lively girl around might make tonight a little less boring.
The two of them quietly squatted in a shadowed corner near the courtyard wall.
Neither of them spoke for a while.
The night gradually grew colder.
A gentle breeze brushed against Amara’s long brown hair as she hugged her knees, secretly stealing glances at Julian from time to time.
Under the pale moonlight, his black hair moved slightly with the wind while his calm golden eyes watched every corner of the courtyard without relaxing for even a moment.
His composure somehow made the entire place feel safer.
Without realizing it, Amara’s heartbeat became a little faster.
She wasn’t afraid.
As long as Julian was here, she felt strangely at ease.
Several minutes slipped by.
Nothing happened.
Even the insects seemed to have quieted down.
Then—
A faint sound.
It was almost impossible to notice.
A light scrape echoed from beyond the courtyard wall.
Julian’s eyes narrowed ever so slightly.
They’re here.
Almost at the same moment, two dark figures suddenly leaped over the high wall with astonishing agility.
Their movements were incredibly light.
They landed silently upon the stone ground, almost like two cats rather than human beings.
Not even a loose pebble shifted beneath their feet.
The intruders were none other than the Black Ghost and White Ghost.
After rushing over in their car, they had stormed toward the Ravenswood household without wasting any time.
The pair carried themselves with complete confidence.
Their previous success had made them complacent.
They believed that although the kid named Julian was undoubtedly powerful, Valemont was enormous.
Surely, not every place in such a vast city could possibly have another Julian D’Aurelius waiting for them.
Tonight’s target would be no different from before.
Or so they believed.
The two thieves had barely steadied themselves after landing when their eyes shifted toward one corner of the courtyard.
There...
Two people were quietly squatting together.
Four eyes met four eyes.
For a brief moment, complete silence filled the courtyard.
The unexpected encounter left both sides frozen.
The Black Ghost frowned immediately.
"Who?"
His sharp voice shattered the silence.
Since they had already been discovered, there was no point trying to hide anymore.
Instead of retreating, Black Ghost strode directly toward Julian and Amara with murderous intent filling his eyes.
Anyone who witnessed tonight’s operation had only one fate.
Death.
They would silence every witness before anyone could spread word of their mission.
Amara instinctively became nervous.
She unconsciously leaned a little closer to Julian.
Julian, however, remained perfectly calm, his expression unchanged as though everything was unfolding exactly as he had expected.
Inside his mind, another thought surfaced.
[What the hell, how did these two idiots sneak in?]
[Didn’t Lina Ashford and Liza Voss notice?]
