"Reporting, Sect Master! The Lu Family is here with a group of people! They say they want the Heavenly Inquiry Sect to give them an explanation!"

The disciple, drenched in sweat, continued, "And they’ve brought a lot of people."

The Sect Master led a group toward the sect gate.

The entrance was already crowded with disciples, all speculating why the Lu Family had suddenly shown up. After all, quite some time had passed since the incident.

"Master Lu, if this disciple may be so bold, it was Lu Nanfeng who tried to harm someone first and was killed for it. On what grounds does the Lu Family come to our Heavenly Inquiry Sect to cause a scene?"

The one blocking the gate was a Deacon Elder of the Heavenly Inquiry Sect with a Golden Core cultivation. For the sake of the Sect’s "reputation," he had no choice but to stop them at the entrance.

Master Lu was filled with grief and indignation, his eyes glinting with malice.

The Lu Family wasn’t a major clan to begin with, and they had very few outstanding members in the younger generation.

Lu Nanfeng was exceptionally talented and had become a disciple of Song Wanning. His future should have been limitless, but now he had been murdered by treacherous villains!

The Lu Family had to demand justice and make the Heavenly Inquiry Sect compensate them for all their losses!

The Sect Master’s face was grim. He stared down Master Lu, his aura heavy as he secretly used his Spiritual Energy to suppress the man’s aggressive presence.

"The story of how Lu Nanfeng died is already common knowledge. Do you think a few words can absolve him of his wrongdoing?"

"Let me tell you something! Don’t think that just because the Heavenly Inquiry Sect has been demoted, anyone can come and walk all over us. If you truly provoke us, the Lu Family can forget about having a peaceful future!"

He had taken enough abuse from all sides recently and was looking to take his frustration out on Master Lu.

It was also a chance to reassert his authority and look imposing.

But Master Lu wasn’t about to indulge him. He directly tossed out two Memory Stones.

"The news is already everywhere. Gu Qingyuan, to cover up his incestuous affair, allowed his disciple to brutally murder a fellow sect member. Are you still going to deny it?"

One projection showed Ye Chuxue brutally dismembering Lu Nanfeng. The other showed Gu Qingyuan and Ye Chuxue fleeing in disarray.

The disciples gasped, unable to reconcile the image of that savage woman with the kind, innocent Senior Sister Ye they once knew.

What was more damning was the scene with both Gu Qingyuan and Ye Chuxue. Their auras were intermingled, revealing the nature of their relationship at a single glance.

At a single glance, the Sect Master’s vision went black, and he nearly fainted from sheer rage.

His hand trembling, he pointed at Gu Qingyuan in the projection, his face alternating between deathly pale and sickly green.

’Gu Qingyuan... he actually dared to lie to me!’

"Junior Brother Gu is a fool! How could he do something so shameless?"

The other elders’ faces were dark with anger, but they remained silent and grim.

’They had warned him about this. Now, he could face the consequences and deal with it himself!’

"Calm down! Everyone, please, calm down!"

At his wit’s end, the Sect Master quickly raised a hand to stop them, gesturing for silence.

"The Heavenly Inquiry Sect will certainly give everyone an explanation. Just don’t be hasty! Please! Why don’t we discuss this in the Sect Master Hall, shall we?"

He looked anxious and utterly exhausted.

He wanted to handle this matter in private, but just as he finished speaking, a cold, clear voice cut through the air.

"Not at all."

A familiar voice, laced with ice.

The Sect Master’s heart sank. Without even looking in the direction of the voice, he closed his eyes in resignation.

’Song Wanning was back.’

’This wasn’t going to end peacefully.’

’He began to regret it. He never should have gotten involved. The loss of a disciple was the Sect’s business, so what did it have to do with him personally?’

"Song Dao You, you’ve finally returned!"
