Villainess Rampage: The Whole Sect Begs for Mercy
Chapter 268: Slaughtering Each Other
A streak of light shot into the Array. Had an Array Master been present, they would have surely realized that Song Wanning had just activated the Array’s maximum power.
But the others weren’t fools. Even if they didn’t understand what was happening, they could feel it.
The Array suddenly gave a violent shudder, followed by an even fiercer wind.
Vast clouds of red mist billowed out, sweeping toward them.
"You’re despicable!"
An elder cried out, then turned to flee.
The red mist was overwhelmingly powerful, and they didn’t dare to face it head-on.
The group began to scatter and flee, all while brandishing their Magical Treasures to strike back with full force.
At this point, no one held back. Their only thought was to disperse the mist and escape the fate of being devoured.
Killing intent radiated from Feng Jinchuan. His composed, cold face was dark as a thundercloud as he fought back, desperately trying to figure out a way to break the Array.
But even after using several Magical Treasures in a row and casting nearly every Spell he knew, the red mist showed no signs of abating.
On the contrary, as if enraged, it surged toward them with even greater ferocity.
Immense Spiritual Power might be able to force the red mist back, but it couldn’t inflict the slightest bit of damage.
’What am I supposed to do?’
Feng Jinchuan quickly forced himself to calm down and began actively searching for a solution.
’I can’t afford to panic. If I lose my cool, it’s really all over!’
Inside the Array, the elders were desperately fighting against the red mist, but screams soon pierced the air.
One of the elders had his leg devoured by the red mist, and the pain was so excruciating he nearly fell from the sky.
Immediately after, another elder had a hole seared through his waist.
The only solution was to amputate the afflicted limb. If they let it spread, they would die even faster.
And so, Song Wanning and Bai Yang soon witnessed the elders turn their weapons on themselves, hacking off parts of their own bodies.
After all, as long as they survived, there were more than enough Elixir Pills to heal such wounds.
Blood splattered throughout the Array, and gasps of horror echoed endlessly.
Bai Yang frowned, a complicated expression on his face as he watched the elders.
In his mind, Divinity Transformation Elders were supposed to be mysterious and untouchable beings.
But these men were acting no better than common street folk. They handled pressure even worse than their juniors. It completely shattered the image he’d had of them.
Song Wanning, however, wasn’t surprised in the slightest. These people had lived lives of ease. They had grown up without facing any real storms, so naturally, their resilience was poor.
In the outside world, where Spiritual Power was scarce, ascending to the Divinity Transformation realm was an incredibly arduous task. These men had never tasted such hardship, so the very caliber of their cultivation was worlds apart.
This encounter had eased Song Wanning’s worries slightly. The Secluded Land might have many Divinity Transformation cultivators, but they were clearly not invincible. The Song Family was not doomed to lose after all...
...
Time trickled on, and the situation inside the Array grew more and more dire.
The elders had begun to constantly consume Elixir Pills to replenish their spent Spiritual Power, but the pills would eventually run out. This thought made everyone’s heart grow heavier with unease.
A closer look revealed that the once-resplendent group were now mostly missing arms or legs, a truly pathetic sight.
Only Feng Jinchuan remained largely unharmed, though his damaged hair made him look somewhat disheveled.
Song Wanning’s gaze darkened. ’The method to awaken the dragon vein is on him. If he withstands this Array, my troubles will only multiply.’
’Unfortunately, other than manipulating the Array’s basic functions, I can’t do much to increase its power. All I can do is wait.’
"You bitch, let us out of here right now!"
"If you persist in this foolishness, your entire Song Family will be wiped out tonight!"
"Do you really think killing us means the Song Family can rest easy?"
The elders began spouting vicious threats, trying to intimidate Song Wanning into letting them go.
This Array was simply too bizarre.
However, the words had barely left his mouth when another man suddenly screamed.
Everyone whipped their heads around just in time to see the man get swallowed by a massive, blood-red maw.
The next second, an incomplete human skeleton was spat out, clattering to the ground.
Dead silence fell over the Array once more.
The sight of the two skeletons was a massive shock. The Array disposed of them as easily as one would take a drink of water, making their own furious counterattacks look like a complete joke.
After a moment of silence, even fouler curses erupted.
They began cursing like madmen, completely shedding the dignity and bearing expected of Divinity Transformation cultivators.
Song Wanning remained perfectly composed, a faint smile playing on her lips the entire time.
To her, the curses of her dying enemies were the most beautiful of battle hymns, a sound that brought her immense satisfaction.
The more they lost their composure, the more she enjoyed it.
When these men were plotting to seize the Song Family’s territory, their arrogance had far outstripped her own current display.
"Save your energy for the Array."
Feng Jinchuan frowned, annoyed by the others’ vulgar curses.
’What’s the point of screaming insults at a time like this? A complete waste of breath.’
"Clan Leader, she’s just gone too far!"
The elders’ eyes were bloodshot; they were being pushed to the brink.
A flicker of gloom crossed Feng Jinchuan’s eyes. He had just dodged a tendril of red mist when another bloodcurdling scream rang out.
He turned to see another skeleton clatter to the ground.
The elders froze for a second, before their eyes turned completely bloodshot with fury.
"I’ll tear you to shreds!"
They roared and charged at the red mist.
But in the next instant, the red mist morphed into a blood-red maw and lunged at one of the men.
"Not good!"
The man’s heart leaped in terror. On pure instinct, he grabbed the elder behind him and yanked him forward to act as a shield.
The other man had been focused on fending off an attack and had let his guard down around his companion. He only realized he’d been betrayed as he was shoved into the red mist.
His eyes flew wide as he let out a defiant cry of "No!" before vanishing completely.
When he reappeared, he too had been reduced to a skeleton of gleaming white bone.
"Wu Fang, how could you—"
The remaining elders stared at him, utterly aghast.
Feng Jinchuan’s face was thunderous as he roared, "You fool!"
"At a critical time like this, we must remain united! What you just did will only get us all killed faster!"
Wu Fang couldn’t meet their gazes. He had acted purely on instinct in a moment of panic.
"I... I didn’t mean to! It was like... I was possessed or something..."
"It has to be the Array! The Array made me do it, you have to believe me!"
Wu Fang scrambled to explain, offering up a flimsy excuse.
But no one believed him. It was obvious Wu Fang was just trying to save his own skin now that disaster had struck—every man for himself.
But they had no time to condemn him, as a new wave of red mist was already upon them.
The group resumed their desperate struggle.
Standing outside the Array, Song Wanning’s lips curled into a mocking smile as she watched the scene unfold.
’So the oh-so "united" Feng Family also turns on each other, huh?’
Her eyes met Feng Jinchuan’s vicious glare.
The hatred in his eyes was like a sharp blade aimed directly at her.
"What are you looking at me for? It’s not like I forced his hand."
Song Wanning shrugged, successfully enraging Feng Jinchuan to the point that his vision went dark.
