Chapter 144: The Art of the Scam

A completely different scene was unfolding right in front of them. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Cassian? What the fuck is that maniac doing now?

By now, the attention of almost every student in the dungeon had shifted toward Cassian. Currently, he had his eyes squeezed tightly shut as his fingers firmly pressed against the glass. Like some bizarre, oversized spider, he was scaling straight up the towering wall. Slung over his shoulder was a softly glowing rope — clearly a high-tier artifact.

"Lucian..." Lyria nudged his arm, gesturing for him to look down at the base of the wall to see exactly which team he had partnered up with.

It was none other than Zenith’s team. Standing firmly on the ground below were Zenith, Adrian, Viktor, and two other students — a male and a female — wearing the exact same Sovereign Monolith uniform. It was obvious they were also top-tier prodigies.

And it was painfully clear exactly who Cassian had borrowed that glowing rope artifact from.

Of course. Mommy’s boy hooked him up, Lucian scoffed inwardly. But still... climbing all the way up there? What exactly is he trying to do?

Deciding it was best to just observe, Lucian stayed perfectly still in his invisible state and watched the show.

High up on the wall...

Having climbed almost a hundred feet into the air, Cassian stayed glued to the wall’s surface using only one hand while running his free hand across the smooth glass. And he did all this while keeping his eyes wide open; it was clear that he wasn’t seeing any illusion at such a height.

Come on, it has to be right around here... where the hell it’s gone that weak point?

Suddenly, his hand stopped as a wide, manic grin spread across his face.

"Got it..."

Cassian leaned in, narrowing his eyes as he leaned in to take a closer look at that rough structure. It was a tiny, almost microscopic crack — so incredibly small that it was virtually impossible to spot with the naked eye. Forget the ground, no — you couldn’t even see it despite being this close, making it completely impossible from down there.

Instantly, he grabbed one end of that glowing artifact rope and hurled the rest of the coil downward. The rope seemingly extended on its own, endlessly unspooling downward until it reached its intended target.

Once it hit the ground, he yelled down at his party.

"I found it! I’m breaking through right now! Get ready, all of you!"

Down below, Viktor caught the descending end of the rope. Gripping it tightly in one hand, he gave Cassian a thumbs-up along with a confident smile.

Zenith commanded everyone.

"Alright, everyone gather close. Grab hold of the rope."

Her entire team quickly huddled together, each taking a firm grip on the glowing line.

Watching this unfold, the rest of the students couldn’t fully comprehend the strategy. However, the greed was palpable. Several students immediately stepped forward, preparing to lunge and hijack whatever opening Cassian was about to create.

Seeing the incoming crowd, Zenith let go of her grip on the rope and stepped forward and leaked her aura — intimidating the advancing students.

She only said one thing:

"Back off. I won’t say it again."

...

Just then, Cassian’s voice echoed from above once again.

"I’m doing it! Grip it tight!"

Saying that, Cassian reached into his pocket and pulled out a strange, peanut-sized egg. Without hesitating, he placed the tiny egg between his teeth and bit down hard.

Crack.

A faint wisp started forming around his mouth...

Before another word could leave his lips, he threw a hard side punch right at the raised crack.

The wall shattered in a single strike, leaving a big gap. Above it, a timer started... 10.

So fucking predictable... he thought without moving his lips.

He adjusted himself on the edge of the gap, preparing to jump to the other side. But right before making the jump, he muttered a single line.

"I am two hundred kilos..."

His body flashed with light once, and he jumped straight through.

The fact was simple. Adrian had given Cassian another artifact, allowing him to increase his own body weight so he could pull his team toward the gap, acting just like a heavy counterweight on a scale.

The rope pulled taut, directly yanking the remaining five team members from below straight up toward the open gap.

Within three seconds, they were already nearing the opening. All the prodigies knew exactly what was about to happen, so there was zero panic among them. Zenith calmly issued a command.

"Dante. Now."

The other male prodigy in their team made his move. Using his nimbleness, he swung forward and launched into a massive mid-air leap. At the exact same time, glowing light gathered in his hands, materializing into a giant hammer as He slammed the weapon directly onto that small crack, shattering the hole wide open.

It’s done leader.

Still being pulled by the rope, all the prodigies landed cleanly on the other side in perfect posture, with Dante touching down right after them. A second later, the gap regenerated and completely sealed shut.

Once again, all the hopeless students were left completely dumbfounded, watching a second team cross right in front of them.

"That was smart..." Lucian muttered."

Lyria was also impressed.

"The supposed ’hero’ of your class really knew what he was doing. Did you see this coming?"

"Not in the slightest," Lucian admitted, his eyes still fixed on the wall. He is still a wild card to me. anyway never mind him... i have figured out our way across."

"What... really... she turned to him.

Are we going to do what they did?"

"No... it’s something else. Let’s grab the others first."

Lyria just stared at the side of his face in total confusion. Sighing, she gave up trying to read him, and they both headed back to their group.

Meanwhile, something else entirely was going on over there. Zeri was curled up exactly where they left her. As for Elira and Sera they were both sprawled on the ground, casually munching on steamed buns.

"Are you for real..." Lyria deadpanned.

Sera looked up, her cheeks completely stuffed with food like a squirrel.

Chew, chew...

"Pusian, twy this... this is sow yummy."

Lucian just rubbed his forehead.

Swallow your food first, Sera. Then talk

He caught Kaelen’s eye nearby. The boy gave a nervous, slightly guilty smile, and it immediately clicked.

So that was the play. Keep the mouths full so they can’t bark. Clever little rabbit.

Lucian clapped his hands once, the sharp sound cutting through the relaxed atmosphere. "Alright, listen up. Picnic is over. Get up and get ready — we are crossing the wall."

Leaving his own team completely dumbfounded, he simply walked away.

Approaching a nearby, tense-looking mixed team, a sly grin found its way onto Lucian’s face.

"Greetings, friends..."

They immediately glared at him. The apparent leader narrowed his eyes. "What do you want?"

"Oh, nothing at all. I merely came to offer some help," Lucian shrugged nonchalantly. "But if I’m interrupting, I can always take my offer to someone else."

He pivoted on his heel, taking a slow step away.

"Hold on. What do you mean, ’help’?"

Lucian halted. His grin widened before he smoothly leaned back in.

"Everyone here is obsessing over one single thing — how to get past that barrier," Lucian drawled smoothly. "So naturally, my gullible friends, I am offering you a guaranteed way to cross it."

He had them right in the palm of his hand. though before anyone could take the bait, a loud gulp sounded from behind.

Sera had suddenly shot up from the ground. Swallowing her food whole, she marched right up to his back, grabbed his arm in a vise grip, and violently yanked him down to her level.

"Hey..." she hissed frantically into his ear.

"What the hell are you doing? Have you gone completely nuts?!"
