VRMMORPG: The Endless Evolution of a Goblin Through Countless Classes
Chapter 36: The guild master of the Phoenix Guild
Vyral straightened his hair while staring into the mirror – a crew cut. Then, he put on a new size-L uniform. It clung tightly to his muscles.
’’Tch. I need another size.’’
After finishing everything, he left the room and headed toward the special classroom.
He strode through the hallway, drawing the attention of students, both male and female.
Some female students blushed as Vyral walked past them. Meanwhile, the male students simply stepped aside to make way for him, lowering their heads in self-consciousness in front of such perfection. They only regained some courage after Vyral had moved on ahead.
Vyral barely noticed anything around him since he had to focus on what mattered most at the moment. Plus, his mood wasn’t as good as usual, so he kept his sharp gaze the entire time. But that only made him even more charming.
’’Who’s that handsome bastard? A new student?’’ one student stammered.
Another male student stared at Vyral with a jealous look.
’’I’ve never seen a guy that handsome before. Especially his eyes. They look like two blue sapphires.’’
A nearby male student sighed.
’’Tch. Look at our girls. They’re hopeless.’’
Most of the girls in the hallway stared at Vyral as if they had been bewitched. They couldn’t take their eyes off him, only blushing in embarrassment after realizing how foolish they looked when he finally stepped into the classroom.
’’He must be the child of some corporation. Didn’t you take his photo? I need to put it on my bathroom.’’
A fat student nearby chuckled as he showed off dozens of photos he had just taken.
’’5 dollars per photo.’’
When Vyral entered the classroom, things got even worse. Everyone shot their eyes toward him as if he were a stranger. But no one did anything, since if he really was a stranger, the door wouldn’t have opened – the system was designed to verify identity through retinal scanning.
Vyral slowly walked past Scarlet. She still kept her cold expression, yet she couldn’t hide her racing heartbeat and her blushing ears whenever she stole a glance at Vyral.
Of course, Grey had witnessed everything. He remained silent and bit his lip, closing his eyes, lost in thought at that moment.
Vyral sat in his seat. Next to him, Doran groaned in frustration.
’’Who are you...? Don’t tell me you’re that bastard.’’
Vyral shrugged his shoulders.
Doran narrowed his eyes in discomfort and muttered.
’’I’m pretty sure your goblin race is a special case.’’
Indeed, his thoughts made sense. He had read a lot about races’s information in the game through the corporation’s historical records. He had never heard of a goblin race that could so drastically affect a person’s real-world physical evolution. Moreover, in the game, Vyral’s race was not weak at all.
After spending time with Vyral, he was even more certain of it.
’’His race rank is at least Ancient, just like mine.’’
Mythical
Ancient
Legendary
Elite
Common
Even though high-ranking races usually belonged to intelligent, ancient species like dragons, elves, dwarves, etc., sometimes there were exceptions.
A few Legendary and Ancient-ranked individuals could still appear in lower races. These cases were once recorded, and even now, there are still known examples – Jame Whitmore
The guild master of the Phoenix Guild, and once the former CEO of the McCarthy Corporation. Now, he acted as an advisor to the current CEO – his son, Carter Whitmore. His race was a slime, but his rank was Ancient, with the ability to devour everything and evolve himself.
One of the OG hardcore players and one of the strongest beings in the game, he possessed countless achievements, even a noble title granted by fate – Knight of Pestilence.
And he believed Vyral was able to achieve half of the Knight of Pestilence for the above reason.
’’He is an exception.’’
Now, he felt satisfied with his decision to make friends with Vyral.
’’Maybe his race is Mythical? Nah, if so, I’ll call him big bro.’’
Vyral frowned as seeing Doran smiled for no reason. It was quite weird. Vyral sighed and said
’’It’s time to pay me, Doran.’’
Doran instantly grimaced.
’’What? I don’t owe you anything.’’
Vyral smirked.
’’Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten it. I saved you during the examination. Remember that elf.’’
Doran shrugged.
’’Saved me? I could easily kill that guy.’’
Doran knew Vyral was trying to get him to help save Polly. Actually, he had the ability to save the old man thanks to his influence, but he wanted Vyral to call him "big bro," so he held back and made him say it first.
Vyral grinned.
’’Don’t try to trick me. You must know everything that happened there. The dungeon core was stolen by an Unholy Player.’’
’’I handled that guy. You think you could defeat an Unholy Player level 4 who was smoothly controlling an artifact?... Nah, I doubt it. In any case, I saved you.’’
Doran frowned in discomfort, clenching his teeth. Indeed, he already knew it after he returned to the corporation. After that mess, Grey had been placed under restrictions for a month. Doran was genuinely satisfied with that outcome. He even laughed about it one night and provoked Grey. It explained why Grey was so quiet today.
But he didn’t expect those scumbags to slip into the examination. It seemed the academy was no longer as safe as before, or they had become stronger than the corporation had thought.
He felt really lucky that he hadn’t stayed there with Vyral. And he wondered how Vyral could handle that bastard.
Doran spat.
’’We’re friends. Why are you being so petty?’’
Vyral shrugged.
’’Really, I smell some intention from you. Are you trying to make me kneel and beg you to save my grandfather?’’
Doran responded.
’’Of course not. You just call me big bro, and I’ll do it instantly.’’
Vyral rolled his eyes.
’’Nah, pay me, bro.’’
A vein popped on Doran’s forehead as he struggled to speak.
’’Fine.’’
However, things didn’t go as easily as Doran had thought.
