Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 215: Catching Intruders
Vikram curved his lips into a smile, standing with his hands on his hips as he watched the six people rush towards him.
He definitely had to kill these dog-like neighbors who came to cause trouble near the territory every day.
He wasn’t afraid of these people coming at him together; he was only afraid of them splitting up and running away.
In the wilderness, coupled with the pitch-black darkness, chasing them would be too troublesome. Now, them charging at him together was exactly what he wanted.
In that short amount of time, the six opponents had already rushed in front of him, each holding a weapon.
The man at the very front, holding a machete, was the first to strike at his waist, but Vikram merely scoffed. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
He hadn’t even pulled out a weapon. Before the opponent’s machete could touch his waist, he grabbed the hand holding the knife.
With a slight twist of the wrist, "Crack!" accompanied by a crisp sound, the hand holding the knife was already broken.
But at this moment, strong gusts of wind swept past his head, back, and chest simultaneously. Vikram knew that the others had also closed in.
His gaze grew cold. After twisting one person’s wrist, he continued without stopping, first squatting down to dodge an overhead attack.
Then, he flashed and rolled to the side. Taking advantage of one person’s inattention, he raised his right leg high and kicked heavily at their back.
Under the effect of his physique, the person who was kicked immediately spat out a mouthful of blood, rendered unconscious by just one blow.
"Dieeeee!" Just as he had finished off one, a furious roar echoed in Vikram’s ears. Someone had already circled behind him again, wielding a metal baseball bat wildly.
Unfortunately, his momentum was good, but his strength was lacking.
The baseball bat seemed to be smashing down on his head, but Vikram caught it with one hand, preventing it from advancing another inch.
"Buddy, your output is all based on shouting. You’re not even as strong as my three female members when they hit people."
Along the way, Vikram didn’t forget to tease the other party. Then, he grabbed the opponent’s weapon, flexed his forearm slightly, and easily snatched the baseball bat.
At the same time, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, the moment he snatched the baseball bat, he slightly bent his arm, and his right elbow precisely struck the temple of one of the people preparing to sneak attack from behind.
The density of a human elbow bone is no joke, and coupled with a precise hit to the opponent’s temple, this sneak attacker was knocked out in the blink of an eye.
Vikram’s gaze swept over him; the opponent had suffered a massive intracranial hemorrhage and was as dead as could be.
The guy whose weapon had been taken away now thought about slipping away, but Vikram was not about to let him have his way.
"Bang!" The crisp sound of the metal baseball bat making intimate contact with a head rang out. His forehead immediately caved in a large section, and he instantly fell unconscious.
"That sound clearly indicates a good head."
"Wouldn’t you agree?" After dealing with three people, Vikram turned his head and gave a kind, sunny smile to the person behind him.
"Hehe, yes, yes." Seeing that his sneak attack had been discovered, he quickly put away his weapon and said with an awkward, fawning smile.
At the same time, he secretly sighed in his heart, "Damn, what kind of monster is this? He hasn’t even pulled out a weapon and he’s already killed us like this."
At this point, three people had already died on the scene, and two others had lost a hand. Only he remained unharmed, but he no longer had the heart to resist Vikram.
"I was wrong, Big Brother. I was just following orders. We’re all just trying to make a living. Can you let me go?"
"As long as you let me go, Big Brother, I’ll immediately withdraw from that territory after I leave, and then I’ll sell all their information to you. How about that?"
Before Vikram could even make a move, he knelt on the ground, crying and sniffling, trying to gain sympathy.
He also didn’t forget to add some bargaining chips for his own life.
Seeing that Vikram was unmoved, and even grabbed the Survivor whose hand Vikram had broken, putting a knife to his throat, he said, "Big Brother, if you don’t believe me, I’ll kill him right here, and you can take a photo. That way, I guarantee it’ll be impossible for me to stay in that territory. How does that sound?"
As this man, full of a strong will to survive, held a knife to his companion, he didn’t notice someone constantly approaching from behind.
Vikram naturally noticed this but had no intention of warning the other party.
"Pfft!" A white blade went in, a red blade came out. A long knife pierced through both men who had huddled together.
The sneak attacker was none other than the man whose hand Vikram had shot off earlier.
This Survivor, who had tried to avoid being killed by Vikram, would never have imagined that he would die at the hands of his companion, falling into a pool of blood with his eyes wide open in death.
Vikram let out a chuckle, truly not knowing why he had to witness such a good show when he only came out to kill a few flies.
Now, only the one-handed man and Vikram remained on the scene.
Standing still, he then raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms, wanting to see what the other party would say.
His side had clearly been targeted by a major force nearby, so keeping a live captive to extract information was best.
But just as he thought this one-handed man would also betray his master for glory, a bad premonition suddenly arose from within him.
Looking up, he only saw the endless madness in the other party’s eyes.
"Anyway, I’m going to die no matter what, so I’ll at least disgust you before I go." With that, the other party sneered, his lips almost reaching his ears.
Immediately after, he noticed that a short, stick-like object suddenly appeared in the other party’s hand.
The sneer on the other party’s lips hadn’t completely faded when the object in his hand was ignited.
He then violently threw it towards Vikram, his eyes glinting with a mad light.
Looking at the object flying towards him, Vikram’s pupils instantly constricted to the size of a needlepoint the moment his gaze scanned it.
The first moment he reacted, he had already vaulted over the wall, not even bothering with the materials dropped by the killed Survivors all over the ground, trying to avoid the flying object.
"Boom!!"
The explosion was deafening, and the flames instantly engulfed the air around him. He could feel the scorching heat wave hitting him.
Fortunately, he managed to vault over the wall just at the moment of the explosion, only sustaining a minor injury to his back.
Leaning against the inside of the wall, Vikram gasped for air, "This dog-like bastard actually had explosives?"
"Damn it, if I hadn’t used the system to scan and detect that this guy was holding a homemade bomb, I would’ve almost fallen into a ditch this time."
Clutching the slight burn on his back, Vikram grunted.
Such a loud commotion naturally attracted Sophia, Divya, and Anjali.
Seeing Vikram leaning weakly against the inside of the wall, all three women’s expressions changed drastically. They rushed toward him in a panic.
Anjali arrived first, crouching in front of Vikram and gently grasping his shoulders, her voice tearful. "Vikram, how are you? Don’t scare me!"
Sophia followed right behind, her face pale with worry. "Vikram! What happened to you? Are you badly hurt?" she asked, her voice trembling as she knelt beside him.
Divya arrived a moment later, kneeling on one knee while placing her hand on his other shoulder. Her voice was urgent and shaky. "Vikram, what exactly happened? Speak up!" Her breathing was rapid, and fine beads of sweat had formed on her forehead.
Seeing the three of them so worried and nearly crying for him, Vikram waved his hand weakly and stopped them. "It’s nothing, just a minor scratch."
He was actually quite surprised. Although he had dodged the explosion, the impact from such close proximity should have caused more than just these minor injuries.
After thinking for a moment, Vikram could only attribute it to the inherently weak power of the opponent’s homemade explosives. Coupled with his physique, which had already broken through fifty points, he had managed to escape without serious harm.
He touched his lower back; aside from some burns, it seemed to be just a simple skin abrasion. This further solidified his belief.
Coming back to his senses, he shakily stood up with the help of the three women.
Even though Vikram hadn’t suffered any major injuries from such close contact with powerful thermal weapons, he was still somewhat apprehensive. If he had been directly hit by the explosion just now, he estimated he would already be a pile of minced meat.
"What exactly happened? How do those bastards still have bombs?" Anjali asked, patting her chest and letting out a long sigh of relief after seeing Vikram was fine.
Sophia, still holding his arm tightly, added with visible concern, "Yes, Vikram. That explosion was terrifying. You’re really lucky you weren’t hurt worse."
Shaking his head, Vikram truly hadn’t expected that in a time when many people hadn’t even managed to get electricity, the other side could actually produce explosives.
"It’s good that you’re okay. Let’s hurry back to the territory to treat your wounds. It’s too unsafe out here," Divya said softly, reaching out to brush the snow off Vikram’s pants and taking his hand.
Sophia nodded in agreement, her voice gentle but firm. "Divya is right. You need to rest properly. We were so scared when we heard the explosion."
Vikram gently caressed their smooth, tender hands, not rushing to return just yet.
Turning around, his leg muscles bulged, and he instantly leaped onto the wall.
He hadn’t seen the body of the guy who threw the bomb yet, so how could he return so carelessly?
Moreover, with the opponent having explosives, he needed to be even more vigilant.
Vikram stood on the high wall and scanned the area, quickly spotting a figure lying on the ground.
From his severed hand, it was indeed the Survivor who threw the bomb.
Seeing that the opponent was motionless, Vikram didn’t leave immediately. The system’s scan showed that he was clearly not dead yet.
He cautiously approached, ensuring there were no explosives on him, before striding towards him.
Speaking of which, this guy was quite cunning; he immediately dove down after throwing the bomb. When Vikram got close, he found that, apart from some minor leg injuries, he was surprisingly unharmed.
He was completely still now, pretending to be dead.
"It seems these homemade explosives are indeed of ordinary power."
Finally approaching the opponent, Vikram stood to the side, his gaze fixated on the man on the ground, his expression cold.
He was already next to the man, but the opponent still showed no movement, looking truly convincing.
Seeing that the opponent was still feigning death, Vikram curled his lip in disdain.
Suddenly, as if remembering something, a smile played on his lips.
He immediately extended his right foot and stepped forward forcefully.
"Crack!" Only a crisp sound was heard, seemingly something breaking.
As soon as the crisp sound disappeared, it was followed by a muffled groan, coming from below him.
Even Sophia, Divya and Anjali, squatting on the wall, heard this clearly, but Vikram seemed to scratch his head as if he hadn’t noticed at all.
He muttered, "Damn it, it’s pitch black, where did that bastard run off to?" As he spoke, he didn’t forget to stomp his foot in anger.
